This thread has been running for many years and has proved invaluable for so many of us who have suffered recurrent miscarriages as we go through this incredibly tough journey.

Discussions cover immune issues, NK (natural killer) cells, thyroid issues, PGS and many many more.

Welcome to the group no-one wants to be in

Tinpo Re shielding did Dr S say you need to shield from 4 weeks after taking pred? How much will your dose be? I started 20mg on Saturday but I am 6 weeks tomorrow. Long story. I’m not sure it will even work and would only be on it for 5 weeks before I start tapering off if it works.
LaurenAB94 I am going for my 6 week scan tomorrow and feel like you. My bust was so sore and sensitive before my result and up to yesterday but now seems a bit less firm and sensitive and I am panicking too...
my last miscarriage I had a 6 weeks scan and it measured too small and had a heartbeat but at the 8 week scan it’s heart was really slow and it hadn’t grown much. I am so anxious it will be the same tomorrow with 5 miscarriages under my belt in 18 months and a failed ivf transfer...

Tinpo · 11/01/2021 16:33

Hi @Unicorn9 yeah he said I’d have to shield once I’ve been on it for four weeks. I’m on 25mg from 4 weeks until 12 weeks and then have to start weaning off it. I’m hoping I would only have to shield for about 6 weeks if I’m coming off it at 12 weeks.

My losses have all been past 12 weeks so o do feel worried about coming off it then, but I think he will be monitoring me so maybe it could be extended if needed.

He mentioned to me that steroids can mask pregnancy symptoms so that could be why you’re not feeling them so much anymore x

Unicorn9 · 11/01/2021 16:39

Tinpo Thank you re the steroids masking pregnancy symptoms. It does give me some hope. It so tough. Good luck with yours too. If I had the ability to make everyone’s dream come true I would especially when making having babies easier. It’s so lonely sometimes...

Unicorn9 · 11/01/2021 16:40

Tinpo I’m so sorry you have miscarriages after 12 weeks.

Tinpo · 11/01/2021 17:55

Thank you @Unicorn9 I really hope it all works out for you ❤️

Whyisthistakingsolong · 12/01/2021 08:16

Morning all. Woken up with some spotting. Certain this is another miscarriage as this is when they happen. Gutted. Does anyone know what the clinic will suggest at this point? Is it too early for them to test the fetus?

Daffodil21 · 12/01/2021 09:39

@Whyisthistakingsolong I'm so sorry to read this. It may not necessarily be what you think. I had a bright red bleed right at the time it usually happens for me too, but it was okay. I don't know about the clinic, sorry, but how far along are you? I really really hope it's ok ❤️

Tinpo · 12/01/2021 09:55

I’m so sorry @Whyisthistakingsolong I’m not sure how far along you are, but I hope they can test the baby for you to try to find a reason. But hopefully it’s just a scare and everything will be ok 💕

Whyisthistakingsolong · 12/01/2021 10:11

Thanks @daffodil21 I'm 5w+2, so super early. It was a light amount but this has happened every time, so not convinced it could have a positive outcome. Waiting to hear back from the clinic, not sure they'd do much at this stage since there's not much to see. I've taken the day off sick! X

Whyisthistakingsolong · 12/01/2021 10:13

Thanks tinpo. I'm v early - 5 wks 2 days

Whyisthistakingsolong · 12/01/2021 10:13

@tinpo rather, thanks

Daffodil21 · 12/01/2021 10:56

@Whyisthistakingsolong glad you've taken the day off. Keep us posted x

NICK7nick7 · 12/01/2021 11:22

@Whyisthistakingsolong so sorry to hear this, I hope there is another reason for the bleeding. I’m pleased you’ve taken the day off, keeping everything crossed for you xx

KtAgs · 12/01/2021 11:48

I'm sorry to hear that @Whyisthistakingsolong. I hope the clinic get back to you soon and that they can offer some support. I know a lot of ladies on here had early bleeding and positive outcomes. In other pregnancies, I have seen a sac and fetal pole at 5 weeks so its possible a scan might offer you some reassurance but it's such a horrible time.

On a separate note, I don't pop on here as much as I used to but I've seen the thread will close in 10 messages time so its probably worth someone setting up another one? I set up this one and tagged a few regulars but its probably good if someone who comes on regularly starts afresh for thread 27 :). Katy x

Hi, I hope you don't mind me joining this thread. I have been following for a while now. We saw Dr Shehata 21st April for tests and back 5th May for results. In the past 3 years we have had 1 MMC, 2 chemicals, 1 PUL and a blighted ovum. We had all tests on the NHS plus some private for myself and husband which all indicate autoimmune issues being the reason for our losses after ruling out so many other things. We know I have high NK cells found from previous tests which I was treated for last pregnancy but from a positive test not preconception, I have hashimoto's, reactive hypoglycemia and positive ANA antibodies. Will be interesting to see what else is found. I'm so sorry we all find ourselves in this position. I do feel the most hopeful in a long time being under Dr Shehatas care. Xx

@Rainbowdreams1983 this thread is dormant now as it got to 1000 posts. There is a new one now, link just below (I can't copy it for you but hopefully you can see it)

Rainbowdreams1983 · 27/04/2021 22:25

Thanks KittyKatSmile I found it 😊 xx

Leapfrog123 · 01/07/2021 14:53

Hello. Sorry if this has been answered before. I’m an ex pred thread participant who’s NC for this. Just wondering if any of you who have been diagnosed with high or aggressive NK cells as the reason for your losses has had any of the Covid jabs? Have any of them impacted on your NK cell levels? I’m trying to conceive again (in the midst of an MC) have already had Covid and am debating about getting the jab or not. I’m very home based and don’t interface with anyone for the time being so I’m not much (if any) of a transmission risk.

KittyKatSmile · 01/07/2021 16:11

@Leapfrog123 this thread is dead. I think the new one is below

@Everhopeful35 and everyone else hiiiiii. I realise this post is a bit old but I came across is after
I just had my second failed fet at argc but 16th failed cycle in total. Im still working my way through reading it all but managed to get some helpful info. We did ivig this time and intralipids in December. I think they will suggest humira next time so I saw that you mentioned buying humira for £250!! Can you please share where it was from as everywhere I have enquired is almost quoting £1000!!!!!! We are on our last embryo now and have no more money to afford a fresh cycle and with immunes it is so expensive I'm even more stressed out. I hope everyone else has been getting their bfp and staying strong x
