I don't know whether to say thanks or not March I'm absolutely floored. How can I bleed like that after finishing the Progesterone and now test positive!? Help! Just fired off an email to Prof Quenby at Coventry!

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 21:21

Sorry ladies thank you for your good wishes, this is bonkers!

Hopefully Prof Quenby will email back in the morning with some advice. I have progesterone and the steroids ready to take...

I have always had implantation bleeds before bfp but never ever like a period!!

barkingtreefrog · 15/06/2015 21:23

Wow, onestep, not suprised you're shaking! Thanks

Floweroct · 15/06/2015 21:33

Great news mrsd enjoy the pizza!

onestep congratulations :)

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 21:35

I'm sitting here shaking on the sofa, googling 'pregnant straight after period'??!! All manner of nasty things coming up, so I'm closing laptop and heading up for a shower to try and relax!! Thank you all for your support, you are all flipping amazing ladies. I've gotta keep my mind positive until I can get some advice tomorrow morning. Weirdly my dr phoned me at 9am this morning asking if I was alright, she thought she had a msg from reception to call me, it was the weirdest!!!!!! Wait till I call her tomorrow morning!!!!!!

NotSpartacus · 15/06/2015 21:39

onestep I've agonised a bit over whether to say anything, but I think I have to... I once had a pregnancy with a similar set of facts to those you describe and it turned out to be ectopic. Now, I don't for a second think there is anything necessarily wrong with yours, and when I went to the EPU with mine (I wanted a scan cos it seemed so strange) not one of the doctors thought anything much of the negative test - bleed -positive test series of events. But when you speak to your doctor can you maybe please get a location scan and then everyone can laugh at me and my paranoia? I'm really sorry to have posted this, and I really hope you are just one of those women who bleeds sometimes in pregnancy (like my mum, who had "periods" for 5 months when she was carrying my brother)!

NotSpartacus · 15/06/2015 21:43

Arg! I'm sorry, I posted that before I saw your post about nasty google results. I really hope I haven't made you feel worse, I'm sorry if I have.

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 21:52

Spartacus, it was exactly what came up in google, so no worries it's now on my radar. Thank you for posting it so I'm aware and ready to take the right course of action in the morning. Did you have any pain?? X

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 22:00

Unbelievable now having light brown when I wipe!!

This is a friggin nightmare...

sebsmummy1 · 15/06/2015 22:07

Is the test a strong positive OneStep? The only time I tested positive after a period type bleed my numbers never went above 200. It wasn't an ectopic though.

Fingers crossed your numbers are nice and strong and it was implantation bleeding xx

NotSpartacus · 15/06/2015 22:10

No pain at all. No bleeding either, other than a seemingly normal (although memorably unclotty!) period.

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 22:13

Seb all what is call strong positives. The lines came up immediately - tests in the past have been faint for ages....

Goodness Spartacus, ok now you've really got me worried. How long after your bleed did you get scanned and investigated?

Thanks Sasha x

Sunandrainbow · 15/06/2015 22:22

onestep - hugs hun. Why on earth does this all have to be so difficult? Hope your doctor is helpful tomorrow and you can get an early scan to put your mind at rest. Fingers crossed is just a break through bleed. x

sebsmummy1 · 15/06/2015 22:23

Well I for one think it sounds like good news. Tomorrow you need to organise the GP and/or EPAU and see if they'll scan to see how far along you are. Plus progesterone etc.

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 22:23

Thanks fingers crossed Sun xx

OneStep2015 · 15/06/2015 22:25

Phoning John Radcliffe EPAU first thing if nothing bad happens during the night...

I fear the power of my own mind sometimes, the mind can do all sorts to the body!Sad

Sunandrainbow · 15/06/2015 22:29

onestep - hello from a fellow JR'r! I've always found them to be great - Tori and Linda looked after me so well, especially for the first mc when I was a complete wreck. Are you under the RMC there too? If so, you don't need a GP referal for the EPU and can just phone them direct. x

Minnie74 · 15/06/2015 22:31

Wow onestep very strong lines. Everything crossed for implantation bleed and a scan puts your mind at rest asap. (Whispering congrats hon- a line is a line!)

NotSpartacus · 15/06/2015 22:37

Soz, onestep, was off looking for the thread I started after I got the bfp to remind myself of timescales etc (all this happened in 2008) but couldn't find it.

I think that it was probably only a few days after the end of my period that I tested - I charted my temps and they didn't go down to normal pre ovulation levels and I felt pregnant so I realised quite quickly something was up. Then I probably saw the nurse at the GP a couple of days later and went to the EPU immediately from there. They couldn't see anything on the scan that day, so I had repeat bloods util HCG hit 1500 and then another scan, which showed the ectopic.

Was all a bit of a rollercoaster, but if there's one thing I've learned in the last 9 years it is that all sorts of random things can happen when ttc and still be normal. Try not to worry (easier said, I know).

MrsConfusion · 15/06/2015 22:38

One step ring EPU and speak to tori. She's amazing. (Sounds like we've got a little oxford club!!). I had negative then period then positive too - which turned out ectopic BUT could easily have been viable, lots of doctors said so. And don't panic, nothing bad will happen overnight even if it is ectopic. Give them a ring in the morning, PM me if you've lost the number (still in my speed dial list). What a head f*ck, I remember getting the positive after arguing really hard with GP that there was no point testing. Lots of stories of ladies being pregnant despite AF-like bleed so please don't think the worst. Holding hands over night.

mrsD thrilled for you, just thrilled. The confidence will come, day by day. You're an inspiration. X Flowers

Brummiegirl15 · 15/06/2015 22:41

Wow - I look away from the thread!! Yay MrsD that's fab!!!!! So pleased for you

Onestep bloody hell - congrats!! Keeping everything crossed for a sticky one

My nausea has returned - like a fool I was cooking Thai monkfish curry tonight and then Jesus the smell hit me. I was practically on my knees I felt so awful. I couldn't even eat it in the end, I had to eat the rice only.

The kitchen still stinks Envy

Catlover2014 · 15/06/2015 22:53

Congrats on bfp onestep. Keeping fingers crossed for you Smile
