Hi there tom* thorn and inamay*, welcome and sorry you find yourselves here, but this thread really saved my sanity four months ago and gives support in the way medical practitioners can't.

Can't get over how many of our tupduffed ladies have had spotting recently, it really is diconcerting. It's like we are in a constant arm-wresle with the mc monster who wants our babies...

So this is my forward plan since bfp. Please tell me to add anything else if i havn't put it down for fat, forty and cycle of 32 days (long folicular phase usually but not short luteal phase)

  • Low carb/sugar diet
-Folic acid tabs -Pregnacare (will double up on the folic acid and some of the other stuff) -Agnus castus (1000mg doze from amazon)
  • Vit b12
-Vit b6 -Evening primrose oil
  • Iron and vit c sup
  • Mooncup for after sex.
  • chesty cough mixture for 5 days run up to ov.
  • Ov sticks for 5 days run up to ov.
  • Sending fresh menses as soon as starts to athens (old stuff binned)
  • possibly coventry in july or aug.

Can i throw anything else at it? Any ideas?

Brummie**, me, cheesy, pop n minnie (yorkshire contingent) are meeting at hotel chocolate in Leeds next sat at 11.30 if you fancy a trip up north? We mentioned it back in april and seemed ages away, but now it's less than a week! X

Frecklefire · 14/06/2015 16:47

Omg twilight - we appear to have merged our brains! I am thinking exactly the same thing. It's time to get gung-ho and no messing! I've bought dh the male version of pregnacare, he seemed quite pleased! Tell me about yam, maca and q10?

Frecklefire · 14/06/2015 16:53

Oooo pop** - indie kid of the 90's here too! (Actually that should read Leeds student wasting too many nights at Brighton Beach, tnc and tge polly bop! So glad my beloved Pulp got retrospective rave reviews (babies, do you remember the first time - sigh). And Madchester too - woohoo! Dh and i were in 7th heaven last night!!!

twilightstruggle · 14/06/2015 16:55

I thought that Freckle - I was thinking, she can't possibly have typed that in 5 minutes in response to me!

They're all as a result of googling - which doesn't feel terribly scientific. Plus it means I keep adding stuff to my amazon basket!

twilightstruggle · 14/06/2015 17:02

I'm now finding negative stuff about yams.

Never thought I'd be obsessively googling yams.

NotSpartacus · 14/06/2015 17:53

Freckle- I think I have read that royal jelly is not a good idea when ttc, will see if I can find out why. I don't know anything about maca. The other stuff is pretty much what I take - a good multivitamin (i use Zita West ones), extra folic acid, Omega 3, vit D3 and Co enzyme Q10.
DH is also on a Zita West manvit, extra vit C and Co-enzyme Q10. I contemplated adding in some other bits but he would never remember to take them.
I found out last week that I have an MfTHR mutation (but only heterozygous), for whch Dr Google seems to recommend all sorts of silliness. Not one of the sites on this topic makes any sense and all are written in deeply messy fonts so I can't bear to wade through the quackery! The specialist said it is neither here nor there, and I am inclined to believe him!

Why are you sending your period to Athens???

Catlover2014 · 14/06/2015 17:57

If you're throwing kitchen sink at it ladies I would suggest you order some inofolic off the internet. It's not cheap and there's limited evidence it works but I can't help but feel it has helped me! X

Thornfield38 · 14/06/2015 18:36

Thanks for the welcome ladies, I'm very glad I found you all!

I would second vit D3, I did a lot of research on supplements after mc 1 and it seems there's growing evidence that Vitamin D is essential for many things, including normal endocrine function.

NotSpartacus · 14/06/2015 18:41

Ah, it was twilight with the royal jelly, not freckle. I swear I need to make written notes when I read this thread!

Ok, have checked the royal j point now, and it doesn't seem to be actively bad. It's more that there is nothing to suggest it does anything, and some people have an allergic reaction to it. So I guess if you are an allergic person it is not great...

Brummiegirl15 · 14/06/2015 18:49

Aaah Freckle I can't do next Saturday but I defo would've considered it. Keep me posted re anymore.

Yes Thorne I'm from Princes Risborough - went to Aylesbury High School so it amuses me greatly Bucks Grammar School teachers on here!

I need a slap as I'm worried about my nausea vanishing. Although my tiredness is out of control. Cooked this afternoon for FIL and his girlfriend and my DP and Christ I'm on my knees I'm so exhausted

I've got to have a kip!!!

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday

twilightstruggle · 14/06/2015 18:52

Right - the royal jelly and maca are out.

Me: Pregnacare, extra folic acid, omega 3, Vit D3, and co-enzyme q-10. Plus evening primrose oil and grapefruit juice up until ovulation, progesterone from CD21, SMEP, legs in air post-sex, and pineapple core post ovulation.

DH: Pregnacare, vitamin C, vitamin E, and Omega 3. Wanted to give him co-enzyme q-10 too, but he's on BP meds and I gather they don't go well together.

I'm still on the fence about yams - mainly because I'm now so fond of the word yams.

Yams.

twilightstruggle · 14/06/2015 19:01

Thanks for the advice everyone! Spartacus - I found much the same conclusion about royal jelly. Perhaps I'll add it in if I've no luck next time.

I feel much better now I feel I've taken control. I'm also thinking about acupuncture as I'm hearing so many positive things about it.

Brummie - sorry your nausea isn't as constantly horrible as would be 'nice'. Well done for getting through a day of hosting though, particularly when probably feeling exhausted and distracted. A sleep sounds well deserved.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 14/06/2015 19:09

twilight I'm taking pregna care conception, omega 3, vit d3 (I am deficient), wobenzym and methylfolate (I am heterozygous mthfr). As I'm under Dr shehata' s care I am taking aspirin as well, I know it's controversial but that's what he recommends.

freckle I think I read 50% of successful pregnancies have some spotting or bleeding but with our bad experiences it's hard not to take it as a negative thing. I know someone who bled everyday of her second pregnancy. She went home to Poland because doctors here said they couldn't do anything and she was given progesterone and steroids. The bleeding didn't stop but she had regular scans and had a healthy baby.

So I, or I should say we,did something stupid last night and dtd unprotected Blush had nothing in the house and was working out in my head that surely if I was going to ovulate in my wtf cycle it surely would have happened by now. But today I did an opk. It's not positive but it's definitely close. So now I'm just hoping I was post ov and there's just LH in my system or that one time won't knock me up. Do your opks have a line after you've ovulated or do they go blank again? So stupid! We weren't supposed to be TTC this month.

NotSpartacus · 14/06/2015 19:32

Snoopy, can you explain the methylfolate / folic acid thing to me? I am heterozygous MTHFR too. My multi vits have folic acid in them... should I stop taking them and swap in methylfolate? (I do hope not.. As I think I would need to take about 10 pills to get the same mix of things that I get from the multivits)

ThePopAndCry · 14/06/2015 19:34

freckle twighlight I've used these websites to come up with my ridiculous concoction of vitamins and supplements:

sites.google.com/site/miscarriageresearch/

natural-fertility-info.com/fertility-therapies

Hope they’re of some use. I’m on wobenzym for the scarring, folate because you have to, vit b complex to help with hormones, high strength vitamin d because the doc said I am deficient, l’arginine for lining, and vitex for hormones. Tried the maca for one day and I felt a bit shaky so stopped. Haven’t bothered with dh as we’re not ttc and don’t think the problem is his. Will be interested to see how you both get on. cat have had a look at inofolic and am definitely interested...

Btw freckle are you at Leeds tomorrow for an appt or was that Minnie?

Hope you’ve all had a good weekend, my lovelies. Back to it tomorrow Sad.

ThePopAndCry · 14/06/2015 19:36

Oh and me too! me too! on the Pulp thing, freckle x

Frecklefire · 14/06/2015 19:39

Twilight** - i am also on the accupuncture. What's with the grapefruit and pineapple core? And do you eat the pineapple too?!

Spartacus** check out serum clinic athens for hidden c test!

twilightstruggle · 14/06/2015 19:49

Grapefruit is supposed to increase EWCM - I've used it on and off since mc1 and anecdotally do find it works.

Pineapple core is supposed to help with implantation - again I've done it for ages. However, thinking about it I'm supposed to be making my uterus less receptive so perhaps it's one I should drop.

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 14/06/2015 20:01

spartacus, please bear in mind I have no medical training, but from what I've read having an mthfr mutation means it can be difficult to absorb folic acid. The severity of this depends on your mutation and whether it is heterozygous or homozygous. My doctor doesn't think its an issue but I'm taking the methylfolate just in case. There are some people that believe you should avoid all folic acid and just take methylfolate but a) there doesn't seem to be a consensus on this and b) I spent too much on pregna care not to take it Grin

NotSpartacus · 14/06/2015 20:07

Ah makes sense. Interesting your doc also doesn't think it's an issue. I understand 40% of us are heterozygous MTHFR , so hard to imagine it is really much of a problem!

Will be adding carelessly chopped pineapple to my smoothie tomorrow, I am sure my ability to implant could use some help...

I bought some baby aspirin today. You know, just in case. Although no matter how many times I prod my boobs they do not hurt therfore I know I am not with child.

inamaymaybewrong · 14/06/2015 20:23

I'm going to review that supplements list later. Some look familiar and some are new.
I tend to eat a few Brazil nuts a day - lovely on muesli and yoghurt! Apparently they help build a good lining, I think due to the selenium in them?

OneStep2015 · 14/06/2015 21:04

Thorn hello!, yes I'm on the Watermead, just had to google Queens Park, didn't know whereabouts that was in Aylesbury. Moved up here in 2012 from North London so I'm still finding my feet in Aylesbury! So sorry that you have found yourself on here too, but what an amazing group this is! If you ever want to meet up for a coffee just shout. XSmile

sebsmummy1 · 14/06/2015 21:04

Hiya, can't keep up!! Re. Supplements I had DP on FertilAid and Mobility Boost and I was taking the female version and FertileCM. I was also taking vit B6, Ubiquinol, a good quality multi vit with folic acid and a teaspoon of Apimist + Pollen honey with Royal Jelly.

If I had to recommend anything it would be acupuncture and diet. I stuck to a Weight Watchers diet in the last few months and lost 10lb. I was eating so many vegetables and healthy food, lean protein etc whereas previously it was pretty much toast and not much else!!

Brummie I have no symptoms whatsoever except tiredness, so I share your anxiety. I have my second HCG test tomorrow and I am bricking it. I'm already assuming it will be bad news and I will be told it isn't viable. I keep having mini panic attacks, it's horrible.

fififolle · 14/06/2015 21:36

Hi everyone! This is my first post on this thread but have been lurking on earlier threads and had to pop up to congratulate Brummie.
I've just found out I'm pregnant again after two MC's in the past year.
Stats:
Fififolle 37 TTC DC#2 MC Oct '14 at 6 weeks, found out at nearly 10 weeks, MMC then ERPC.
MC April '15 at 7 weeks 4 days, found out just over 9 weeks, natural MC.
I had my wtf cycle then conceived on the next. CD 1 was 11th May and I had a smiley on CB digi ov test on day 18. Pre April my cycle was 28 days but I delayed testing until last thurs as ov was late. I got a strong +ve on CB blue dye test then 'Pregnant 2-3 weeks' (since conception), which is making me think I'm possibly further along??
I saw a consultant privately in April and he mentioned progesterone and extra folic acid after my next bfp, unfortunately he's on annual leave until next week. I've made an appointment with my GP for this fri to ask them to prescribe it. I'm taking an omega 3 supplement and antenatal vits. I'm getting a bit worried as would like to start progesterone ASAP. I am using the cream.
Sorry for the mega post but are there any other supplements I should be taking?

fififolle · 14/06/2015 21:36

PS weirdly symptoms are different this time, v little boob tenderness, just slight nausea.
