Late miscarriage

Hi everyone,
I am in hospital atm, and have been told I am having a late miscarriage at 19 weeks. I'm just a bit confused as to what to do once I'm induced.
I'm not sure if I want to hold my baby afterwoods, and like the hospital have said they could maybe do me foot/hand prints instead...but I'm even scared of seeing them incase they are really tiny....I'm just wondering what people's experiences are?

That's ok! don't worry about it! I'm happy to help.

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 14:59

Shame it takes so long, like...you just sorta want it over and done with, you know?

I know what you mean yes! I was in labour for a whole day and then it suddenly stopped... they waited until the next morning before examining me and then my little girl was born.

Tina2003 · 07/06/2012 15:07

Had a miscarriage as well, I was allowed a proper burial even though it was about 16 weeks. I remember hospital staff insisting I ate something, take their advice as you will need your strength. I didn't want to see or anything as I was very distressed at the moment. Just go with your instinct, and I will say a prayer for you and your angel.

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 15:21

It's hard isn't it :( And it's hard knowing if what your feeling and what's happening to you is normal and stuff
Sorry to hear about your miscarriage Tina :( I am trying to still eat and keep my strength up, as I'm struggling M.E wise, so know I need to really take care of myself now, before the bad stuff happens so that I have the strength :) x

Bluetinkerbell · 07/06/2012 15:46

Keeping your strength up is good! Wish there was someone who could bring you some proper food, as hospital food isn't all that, is it?

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 15:50

No, especially when you're a vegetarian :P

OP posts:
Bluetinkerbell · 07/06/2012 15:52

Yes indeed, veggie here too! Horrible things they brought me...

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 15:57

Ditto :P Just getting by with the cheese sandwhich I had for lunch lol

Maybe you can ask for some toast in between? although from what I remember that wasn't great either Wink Which ward are you on?

BellaOfTheBalls · 07/06/2012 16:03

phoebe

I have no advice but couldn't read and run. Really hope you're OK. You sound so "together" in your posts, I guess you just go onto autopilot. I hope everything goes smoothly for you. You're in my thoughts and I'm sending you some very big, squeeze un-mumsnetty hugs.

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 16:12

Haha :P Would be a good idea for toast though, as icky as it may be :P I'm on the labour ward :S
Thank you Bellaoftheballs, yeah I guess I am on auto pilot atm, that is a good way to describe it :)

I guess I am just so lucky I was here anyways, so I have like lots of things with me to make it feel more like....homely...not that it could feel homely...but it's a bit of a comfort...you know?

OP posts:
BellaOfTheBalls · 07/06/2012 16:18

Yes I know what you mean. A little less...clinical?

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 16:28

Yeah, that's what I was trying to say :p

Bluetinkerbell · 07/06/2012 16:54

Have they got you into a special room or are you sharing with someone else?
I hope you have some privacy! We were in a room designed for people going through pregnancy loss/stillbirth.

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 17:07

No, I'm in my own room thankfully :) in a lot of pain now :(

OP posts:
Bluetinkerbell · 07/06/2012 17:11

That's good that you have your own room...
I guess the co-codamol has finished working, please ask for some more pain relief! Like I said before you have several options... no need to be in pain, the situation you're in is bad enough as it is! x

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 17:16

It's difficult cos no one comes in and checks on me much, and I'm really shy! And don't really feel up to going out and asking cos legs are wobbly, but it's not exactly an "emergency" so can't buzz...maybe I am just over thinking things too much :P

OP posts:
Bluetinkerbell · 07/06/2012 17:18

Of course you can buzz for it! Don't be silly! That's what the buzzer is for and that's what the midwives are paid to do!

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 17:23

I thought it was like...if you were dying :P Like to be used in emergency not just for like...stomach cramps...
I don't think I can have anymore though....I suffer from endementriosis and used to be in agony with period cramps, so like massivley abused painkillers when I was at my worst, the 1stday always used to be the worst, so I used to have to take like a cocktail of different things and still not even be able to get out of bed...and frmo doing that I gave myself gastritis, so like my stomach linning gets inflammed when I take painkillers so have to be careful with them, and I can feel it going a bit iffy....so think I might try and get by without co-codamol until I am like...desperate

Tina2003 · 07/06/2012 17:24

which hospital are you in? you have family that can come and stay with you? if you are close to me I can come and keep you company :(

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 17:26

Sorry....I've been like...looking at other posts on here (bit too scared to reply to others atm) but most people like...state their problem and that's it really....but I'm here rambling on and on and giving you a running commentary! I'm really sorry if I'm imposing and not doing what I'm meant to do :(

OP posts:
Bluetinkerbell · 07/06/2012 17:27

Maybe you could ask for morphine? or use gas & air?

xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 17:27

My family aren't really speaking to me atm, and are preoccupised with my Gran. My best friend is back this evening as been away from half term, so she is gonna come in for a few hours as soon as she's back :) So at least I will have someone to talk to! Been here since saturday, so feel a bit insane atm :P

OP posts:
xPhoebex · 07/06/2012 17:28

Am I allowed that already? No ones really telling me much, and I don't want to be a burden :(
