Hi girls... let me join you. '62 was a great year, or so it seems!

Lonelymum · 27/04/2005 21:45

I feel most people are younger than me on Mumsnet too. At least half of them seem to be 24 or younger and I think to myself I am old enough to be their mother! That makes me feel old, but my body and mind don't feel 40 at all.

Potty1 · 27/04/2005 21:47

My body doesn't feel it.........just looks it. Much better dressed IYKWIM!

gingerbear · 27/04/2005 21:48

lucky you lonelymum. My body is creaking and wrinkled and 3 stones more than I was when I was 30 but in my mind I am still lissom and pert and sultry

Laurang63 · 27/04/2005 21:49

Wow I can't believe there's so many of us! This site is brill, it's my first time on here today

Do you think so? I suppose I don't have the body I had at 20, but then, I never had a very firm fleshed body, so I am pretty pleased with the way I look now. Apart from my hands - they look like my grannies'! Too much hand washing since I had children I reckon.

motherinferior · 27/04/2005 21:49

Another 1963er here.

gingerbear · 27/04/2005 21:51

Oh what a night, late December back in 63 (I was 3 months old)

Blu · 27/04/2005 21:51

LonelyMum - I'm probably old enough to be your mother! All I', saying is I was 43 when I had DS...
And if Aloha wasn't real, I'd be complaining to the ASA for misrepresentation - she does indeed look her 'Mumsnet age'

TinyGang · 27/04/2005 21:51

Thanks for the welcom Laura Yes, I do have my hands full a bit!

I wonder why we think everyone is younger WWB? It's not because they post sounding immature, nothing like that, just that sometimes they seem to sound more 'fizzy' than I feel some days

gingerbear · 27/04/2005 21:52

probably giving mum a bad night.....

feelingold · 27/04/2005 21:52

Hi, I was 40 this year (she says sobbing) and I have dd 9 and ds 4, would love more but had to have fertility treatment to have them so it's not really an option.
Cried all day on my 40th birthday, well everytime i opened another card with a big 40 on it (can't you tell most of my friends are younger or they wouldn't have done that to me would they?). Anyway, nice to know I'm not the only older mum on here.

motherinferior · 27/04/2005 21:53

Wotcher Blu

I personally feel about 183 today but that is because DD2 kept us awake all night coughing, I haven't had any serious exercise for a week and my work is crumbling around my ears. Normally - well as normal as I get - I'm fairly spritely.

sansouci · 27/04/2005 21:53

I look great, I think. By candlelight. I have very few wrinkles on my face, just a few laugh-lines around the eyes and the rest of me can be fixed with some regular excercise & a loss of about a stone. I just feel tired. My eyesight is not as good, I have sort of high bp & I'm cross with my body for "letting me down". I cannot recommend too highly that everyone should keep their skin out of the sun & wear a sunblock on the face in summer especially. I use fake tan.

gingerbear · 27/04/2005 21:55

feeling old, I had a wretched 40th birthday too. 41 felt like a breeze in comparison.
Mariella Frostrup spent hers with George Clooney - they are good friends . Cow, she is also an older mum.

aloha · 27/04/2005 21:56

Come on Feelingold - you are much younger than Madonna!
And Blu - stop it!

Lonelymum · 27/04/2005 21:56

Its those thread where you have to know something about popular culture that get me. I'm sorry, I'm not a boring old fart, and I used to watch Top of the Pops as much as anyone else, but I don't watch it now! (No teenagers and no liking for modern music). I can't name lyrics, or have even heard of modern artists, whereas, the minute I saw Gingerbear's post I knew she was quoting from The Four Seasons hit!

TinyGang · 27/04/2005 21:57

I know what you mean Feelingold! I couldn't quite grasp that those cards said 40 and were actually for me!! Many of my friends are younger than me too which doesn't help - even dh is a toyboy (well, 37)!

Laurang63 · 27/04/2005 21:58

You were born in September then gingerbear? snap

OP posts:
AuntyQuated · 27/04/2005 21:58

me too..i am 40

suedonim · 27/04/2005 21:58

I'm weeeeeell over 40, with two children older than some of the Mumsnetters! My ds's are 30 and 25 and dd's are 17 and nine.

Lonelymum · 27/04/2005 21:59

I spent my 40th birthday travelling to Paris on Eurostar with dh and 4 children (ours!). Then trekking round Paris and going up the Eiffel Tower. I am not meaning to boast about this, but just trying to say it was great because I scarcely thought about the fact that I was 40 at all.

gingerbear · 27/04/2005 21:59

yeah, but I bet you could remember the words to Come on Eileen, Dancing Queen and loads of other brill 80's stuff??

gingerbear · 27/04/2005 22:01

that was for Lonelymum btw.
Laura, when in Sept ? 16th for me.

Lonelymum · 27/04/2005 22:01

Natch!
