Now that the weather's getting a bit nicer thought it might be good to arrange a daytime meet-up.

Whereabouts in Bristol are you LittleMy?

LittleMy34 · 23/04/2008 21:18

Westbury Park - how about you?

MaeWest · 23/04/2008 21:20

St George - there's a fair few MNers scattered throughout the city (you just need to now the secret handshake )

LittleMy34 · 23/04/2008 21:26

does the handshake involve standing on one leg or anything?

i've seen a few mentions of meet ups but never been around for one. I know ChinaSurprise is a Bristol girl, but that's the limit of my MN Bristol knowledge.

I'd love a day time meet up - I'm at home with DS on Tues and Fridays, so name your place!

MaeWest · 23/04/2008 21:34

Don't think I know ChinaGirl...

I work on Tues, but around on Fridays. I don't have a car during the week but anything on a bus route is OK. Museum cafe is pretty good (nice cake).

My DS is 21 months - how about yours?

MaeWest · 23/04/2008 21:35

ChinaSurprise not ChinaGirl (time for bed I think...)

LittleMy34 · 23/04/2008 21:46

DS turned two last week - Museum sounds good to me! have horrible headache now so going to bed - more tomorrow.

DixiePixie · 24/04/2008 00:25

Did someone say meet up?

charlotte121 · 26/04/2008 12:17

hey fellow bristolians i think a meet up is definatly in order. (even tho i have never met any of you before) Im big and fat and i need some fun!!! Im due to have my baby in 5 weeks and im sure my little boy would love some company from some other children and some adults who arn't a freak like his mother

MaeWest · 26/04/2008 13:34

Hi charlotte - so you're just at the stage of pg when people say things like 'not long to go now' and you want to smack them?! .

DixiePixie - how's things with you?

Right, to brass tacks - I can't do next Friday as I am working (not usual for me, but my boss is retiring and we are giving him a v sedate party) but can do the Friday after, which is 9 May. How about meeting at the Museum at about 10.30?

Who's in?

PosieParker · 26/04/2008 13:39

Hello, I am in Bishopston. Do we need copies of Catcher in the Rye or something??

charlotte121 · 26/04/2008 15:15

what gets me is i either have people telling me what i neat little bump i have "ooooh are you eating enough... where are you hiding it" or i get people saying im huge... oh you wernt this big with the last one.... yeah cheers i do realise that im a heffer i dont need reminding. I indulged in a very diluted glass of white wine and lots of lemonaide last week and all i got was glares and shud you be drinking that... yes i bloody well should be. rant over... not long to go its gonna b soooo mad at my house. whats catcher in the rye?

friday is good for me as long as you dont mind being associated with a chav oh and my son will probs drown you all in dribble as well, its a very attractive look he's sporting at the moment. think we may finally have some teeth coming through... but yeah im in!

PosieParker · 26/04/2008 15:35

It's a book that people take on a blind date so people know it's them!!

charlotte121 · 26/04/2008 16:06

oooh right.... i am just a tad bit dumb sometimes!

DixiePixie · 28/04/2008 11:04

Hiya

I'm fine thanks Mae, how are things with you?

I'm pretty sure I could do 9th May. Lets hope that irritating lady that works at the museum isn't there this time(!) Last time we went there for a meet up she was practically stood over me and DD the whole time fussing and moaning. I don't think she was a natural children-person!!

I haven't actually taken DD around any of the museum yet, so it might be nice to do that.

LaundryFairy · 28/04/2008 11:24

Hello - I'm in Bristol as well. I'm relatively new to mumsnet: is there some sort of innitiation ceremony you have to go through to learn the secret handshake? Can anyone turn up at the museum?

MaeWest · 28/04/2008 14:10

LaundryFairy - all welcome at the meet-up. Can you make it on 9 May?

Some of us have met before but I think when we didn't know each other we just gave descriptions of appearance to avoid any embarrassing incidents where you attach yourself to a group of women with children only to find that it's the wrong one (at least I don't think that happened to anyone...).

I'm tallish, blondish, wear glasses and have a brown Maclaren buggy, usually containing a chunky toddler.

Dixie - they've just opened their new Egypt gallery, DS loved this as there are mummified cats...

DixiePixie · 28/04/2008 14:34

When we had a meet up at the urban beach, I ended up having to borrow the microphone of the DJ there to make an announcement Don't think that will be an option at the museum though

charlotte121 · 28/04/2008 15:10

so is the 9th of may a definate now? the museum lady sound like a barell of laughs... did she not have anything better to do than stalk u?
last time i went there we were asked to leave coz my friends little bro threw up everywhere and had a major head fit... good times

LittleMy34 · 28/04/2008 18:42

I can't do Friday mornings, we go to playgroup - boo

Maybe next time.

LaundryFairy · 28/04/2008 20:47

Hi Mae

Friday the 9th should be fine - hope to see you then.

MaeWest · 29/04/2008 20:10
