OK, thought I'd bite the bullet and start this thread as we were talking about the possibility on the "we're great, we are" thread

Is anyone interested in a christmas meet up? I know it's early but you know how time has a habit of flying by... I'm happy to organise if so. You can post here or email me at [email protected] I'm thinking probably London or just outside London as the place and the venue depends on how many want to come. Like batey's idea of a 70s/80s theme...

Heh heh heh! No chance of me arriving as a fairy - my 6 yr old has exclusive rights to fairydom, in this house.

WideWebWitch · 12/09/2002 21:46

OK, deborahf just asked how this was going and it looks like there are about 25 ish of us interested in coming but I have no idea where we could have it. Also, someone said to me that if we choose the 2 weeks before Christmas then we will almost certainly have to pay a deposit to hold a restaurant table unless we go to a pub. And most pubs will be packed and presumably we'd all like to be able to talk and to hear each other? God, I'm getting old, making remarks like that

What do we all think about a Pizza Express somewhere? Cheap ish, usually good quality etc... but where? Dean St? Any suggestions? I don't mind phoning and making enquiries about deposits and dates etc if most people agree PE is a good idea. And there will come a point when I actually have to pay it and then people will have to commit before I do etc. But that's a way off yet. Can't be arsed with 70s/80s theme myself, (good idea, but a hassle) but if anyone wants to come as that bloke from Kiss or Boy George, they're most welcome

So dates: what about Saturdays 30th November, 7th December or 14th December? 21st seems a bit close to Christmas doesn't it? Votes?

OK I'll start ! Would love to come but could only do 30th Nov due to family commitments in Dec. Don't care where it is as long as there is red wine and it's not too smokey.

Ailsa · 12/09/2002 22:13

Any date, anywhere.

phew, no 70s/80s theme! ok then count me in, pe is a dependable choice. marginal preference for 30th november.

Deborahf · 12/09/2002 22:41

Hi WWW - just seen the note. Really would like to come, but can't do 30th November or 7th December. Diary is already filling up pre-Christmas So my vote is for 14th December. Pizza Express is fine by me - nice food, and you're right we'd be able to hear each other speak Hopefully, I'll be able to join you all. If you need a deposit to hold the venue - let me know. Contact mumsnet for my email address.

I can't do Dec 7

Enid · 13/09/2002 09:08

30th Nov suits me best too. Maybe 7th at a push.

Willow2 · 13/09/2002 12:08

Think I can do any of the dates - but earlier is better as things always seem to go pear shaped as the day approaches.

Sounds great to me ks, what does everyone else think? Glos Rd tube is good from Paddington but what about other mainline stations? I'd say go for £25 without wine so if people don't drink they just pay this and we have a separate drinks bill as discussed when talking about other meet ups. End of November is looking like the preferred date isn't it? Votes please!!!

KS - is it on the Cromwell Road? The firm I worked for 10 years ago used to hire it out for the staff Christmas do if it's the place I'm thinking of.
WWW - any date, any location for me is fine.

Yes, count me in, probably end of November is best, but no mad preference. Da mario sounds nice, and £25 per head including disco is fair enough.
See you all there

Just had a look at their website - looks ok to me.

WideWebWitch · 13/09/2002 19:55

Not the one I was thinking of ks, but looks good to me. What a cheesy painting of Princess Diana!
