OK, thought I'd bite the bullet and start this thread as we were talking about the possibility on the "we're great, we are" thread

Is anyone interested in a christmas meet up? I know it's early but you know how time has a habit of flying by... I'm happy to organise if so. You can post here or email me at [email protected] I'm thinking probably London or just outside London as the place and the venue depends on how many want to come. Like batey's idea of a 70s/80s theme...

I thought medeario was a nickname for da mario when I first saw that scummyone.

I'm very jealous of you all. I just know you're all going to have a riot!

Clucks, Pamina - is there room for another SW19-er?

Fionn · 14/11/2002 21:16

I'd like some Wham/Madonna stuff and some proper 70s/80s disco like Earth Wind & Fire. I don't think it'll be techno or house stuff at what is a venue probably mainly used for office parties. I'm sure we can take it in turns to ask the DJ for requests!

God help me if they play that Candi Staton/The Source track - it does something to my mental configuration and I end up doing a David Brent disco impersonation. And singing VERY LOUDLY.

WideWebWitch · 15/11/2002 09:39

Willow2 might have to request that track then to see your David Brent impression

Pamina, Florenceuk, let's take the cab to SW19. I'm getting large and round so it'll have to be a big, black one.

Not been online recently, working like a dog, fending off advances from 2 married men with children, trying to organize birthday party, and research what new car can afford, but would really like to come to Xmas party. Any space? Cannot work out who is coming or where exactly it is, as this topic has become so long to scroll down. Any chance of a quick answer?

justiner · 22/11/2002 11:17

Hi Ks,
Not sure if www has been in touch but we've been liasing with her about coming. Carrie for drinks but not dinner. Rachel and I for dinner but NOT dancing (too preggers!). Hope that's ok - if it's too late and a problem not to worry. Just let us know.
Justine

WideWebWitch · 22/11/2002 23:02

Hi ks, assume you've already factored Justine, Carrie and Rachel in as they were the 3 extra I mentioned a couple of days ago? Have also had one other email but not sure if they still want to come as they were supposed to confirm with me by now and I think it's too late isn't it unless we've had more dropping out? Really sorry not to have replied sooner, have been up to my eyes in work (how annoying!). Thanks for all the organising etc, looking forward to it.

Ks, I've got one more to add, contacted me by email which should be OK shouldn't it? Was 42 according to your last count, add 2 for dinner (Rachel, Justine) add this new one, add Cityfreak = 46. If this is right there's room for 1 more isn't there? If anyone wants this place let us know, first come first served...

OP posts:
roxie · 23/11/2002 10:37

WHERE?
WHEN?

WideWebWitch · 23/11/2002 10:47

Just to recap, here are the details for anyone who doesn't want to read the whole thread again:

Date: Saturday November 30 (a week today)
Time: 6.30 pm
At: da Mario's - website is here
It's a restaurant in South Ken.
Nearest tube is Gloucester Rd.

Ks has given them a deposit cheque (unbanked) so PLEASE let us know asap if you can't make it. Names of people coming are below. Of course you don't have to tell people your nickname when we get there if you don't want to.

As ks said before, there is a disco from 10.30 pm, ominous 'dvd' screens before...disco is a teeny tiny floor one, you could squeeze about ten people onto it I think!

Menu, £25 for garlic bread, baby octopus salad or tomato and mozzarella salad, then pizza or pasta, then pud. Francesco said we can have a mix of £30 and £25 menus. The £30 ones include a half bottle of wine. I was going to arrange to meet some people earlier but haven't so will be there at 6-ish. Presume table is booked in name of mumsnet ks?

WideWebWitch · 23/11/2002 10:49

Address of da marios is 15 Glos Rd SW7 for anyone who prints out this bit of the thread for details and needs the address on it.

Not fair, wnat to come, want to come, want to COME!!!!!

bayleaf · 23/11/2002 15:12

Being the complete 'country cousin' I'm considering coming down to London quite early on the Saturday Mornig and doing some Xmas shopping. I know practically nothing abut London - can anyone give me some hot tips as to good areas to shop - preferably with some small independant shops/market stalls as any national chains we probably have out here in the sticks albeit in smaller form!

WideWebWitch · 23/11/2002 18:54

Bayleaf, High St Ken is good for shopping and quite near where we're meeting. Lots of chains though. Depends on what you want - are you kids shopping or you shopping? Barkers is a big department store, good for a wander.

florenceuk · 23/11/2002 19:20

Don't forget, Gloucester Rd tube is closed to the Picadilly line because of the firefighters' strike. You can get there on the District Line though.
