Hi - just moved into the area, have 3 yr old ds. As I work most days, not yet been able to attend mothers & kids groups - anyone know of activities around on Fridays or any MNer meets?
Thanks in advance!

Zola that's a huge area! Where do you live?

ZolaPola · 23/06/2004 20:03

I know..geography is not my forte, also little response previously so thought I'd widen it..!
Live in Windsor but work most days in London and already have friends/family in Surrey...

I don't personally know of anyone in Windsor but you would of course be very welcome at the SW London meet ups. Not much help for local friends I know.

Why don't you have a look in your local doctor's surgery, they usually have posters for playgroups etc in there.

ZolaPola · 23/06/2004 21:22

Hi again - yes, might well join you on way back from work one time. Where do you meet, out Richmond way at all?

ZolaPola · 23/06/2004 23:09

I do shop in Windsor. Theres a lovely shop called jamborie i think, bit pricey but i love looking

Branster · 24/06/2004 00:20

Hi ZolaPola! Your local library (or the library local to the area you want to socialize in with ds) would have lots of info on local activities for under 5s. Gou out with children in Surrey (i think that was the title) for about£2.50, Grapevine (free) and they would also have lots of notices on the board. CS is right, the health visitor would also be able to give you lots of information too. The local concil website might have something as well. Don't know if Netmums have covered these particular geographical areas yet but worth a look. Local Leisure Centre or a local good gym (i.e. david lloyd) should have some sort of activities happening there. You're bound to find something for Fridays. alternatively, look for a class for ds (music, tumble tots, crafts etc). Good luck!

ZolaPola · 24/06/2004 00:21

some great shops here - a window shoppers paradise! am trying to avoid all those sale signs, especially in central station..need to get curtains & furniture for new house first, not clothes!

local library would have a website (you'd find it through the council's website) see if they give any information on there.

ZolaPola · 24/06/2004 11:07

thanks Branster! found some useful stuff from the local Children's info service....struggling to find Fri stuff of interest to him & appropriate to his age group though..still looking..I'll probably go for a tumbletots type thing

Here I am! Trying to contact you on other threads but no joy.

Have moved about a month ago into Windsor. How are you getting on? Let me know, looking forward to swapping Windsor stories! Know what you mean about the shops!! Don't know of anything on Fridays as yet but will let you know if I hear of anything. We are free mornings all week as DD1 goes to nursery school in Old Windsor in the afternoons, and we're often in Windsor in the mornings so let me know. That park behind the library is nice in good weather, safe area for kids to play and mums can sit on grass and sunbathe and watch over at same time - also there is a a sprinkler/fountain thing that they can play in. Have you been there?

ZolaPola · 07/07/2004 12:14

hi Tatcity! - sorry, not been on much at mo as applying for jobs (again) and usual house sorting etc! Great to hear from you, you're settled in now, then? Lots on ours still to do - decorating, new bath (at some point)etc etc, but like it here - even been to castle already!
Bacherlor's acre is great - also another park at the wonderful leisure centre along the river..still lots more to discover, I'm sure!
I'm around most Fridays, btw but away for a few w/es over summer.

Nice to hear back, thought I'd lost you there! Yes, we're decorating lounge at the moment, cancelling out dark burgundy, dark green and gold wallpaper. Have had floors sanded which made a massive difference - only another 4 rooms to go!! What was the castle like? Did kiddies enjoy it?

StickyNote · 07/07/2004 16:18

Has this meet-up got anywhere? It seems that this area is the MN equivalent of the Bermuda triangle - people post once and then are never...seen...again...

CP3 · 07/07/2004 16:29

Ive been watching it, but not got anywhere. I quite fancy a windsor meet up. Nice day out? Anybody?. Im off on hols for a week, not to the bermuds triangle but close.

Bigmerlin · 07/07/2004 16:48

Hello
I live in Windsor too. Baby is due in August, so wouldn't have any children to contribute to a meet-up yet!

CP3 · 07/07/2004 16:49

You could have one of mine Bigmerlin

StickyNote · 07/07/2004 17:31

And mine

Well, let's go for it - a July meet-up in Windsor, on a Friday. How does that sound?

StickyNote · 07/07/2004 17:31

And bumps very welcome

ZolaPola · 07/07/2004 21:26

Hi - what a great response! How about meeting up for a coffee and chat at Cafe Rouge (in central station) - plenty of room for buggies (or bumps)...I could do 11ish Friday 9 (oh, just realised that's next week, maybe too soon) or 16 July or 6 Aug. Any of those good for people?

OP posts:
StickyNote · 08/07/2004 00:52

What's Cafe Rouge like for kids?

StickyNote · 09/07/2004 19:37

The Bermuda Triangle strikes again...

ZolaPola · 09/07/2004 22:03

Hi there - it's fine, just come back from there - got a kids menu and separate area for them if you wish, so quite relaxing...open to other ideas though!
