Time for a new general chat thread

HAPPY NEW YEAR

OP posts:
ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2007 22:01

Ah socks is one thing I can't help you with. We have always (in the 5 years I have been a parent) have an extraordinarily greedy sock monster in our washing machine, I have soo many odd socks you wouldn't beleive it. It was only recently I learnt the trick of buying multi packs of plain single coloured socks to continue utilising those that lost their partner.

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2007 22:03

Other one is South Ruislip, so I guess she is right .

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 22:19

no spare pair of hands either then...?

mellow2 · 02/02/2007 22:30

Oxo,
It took dd 2 and a half weeks before she would smile at me when I got home from work. She would be in a strop for about an hour and then it was time for her to go to bed so I didn't get any smiles or cuddles at all.

She has just started giving me cautious smiles when I get home.

I hope it doesn't take your dd long to get accustomed to you going to work.

xoxo · 02/02/2007 22:45

Thanks Mellow and Quokka: feel better now.
dd in bed (ahem, my bed ). she just wanted to hold my hand all night.
ds is much easier - he told me that he 'really misses' me when I am away, hastily followed by 'mum, does your work have kinder eggs?'

manipulative so and sos.

am enjoying nice glass of wine as dh is out on the town.

slinkstar · 03/02/2007 00:40

helloo.... newbie here- well newbie to thread not mn. but wanted to introduce and say hi and ask does "west London" include me??? bit easterer than acton but not by much just abit furthur down that lovely a40.
can i come to meetups????

Paddlechick666 · 03/02/2007 07:24

hi slinkster

yeah ok, as long as you bring cake to daytime meets and buy drinks at evening meets. We're a very shallow lot LOL!

seriously, welcome on board, the more the merrier.

by your description of a bit further up the A40 I think you qualify.

Welcome!!

foxabout2pop · 03/02/2007 08:27

Hi Slinkster and welcome

There is a west London posse night out on 10 Feb at Fat Boys in St Margeret's (7pm) if your free that evening?

Where abouts are you - White City?

I'm about to have a baby at Queen Charlotte's in the next 4 weeks

Hi everyone else. Went out with my mates to Escale last night and we all spent most of the evening in fits of giggles - not sure why but it was fun!#

Came home to find DH asleep in DC's bunk bed and DD in our bed - so she woke me several times during the night, kicking me etc.

Never mind...

Must remember to buy a new mobile phone soon as I have to give my work one back in 10 days.

Sue where did you buy your new phone? BTW how is the fridge?

foxabout2pop · 03/02/2007 08:29

Oxo - glad your job is going well and you're not missing the DC's too much. How does it feel being back at work then?

Puds - belated birthday [hugs] to DS

uwila · 03/02/2007 09:06

Sue, I've just checked and I do have a bunch of 9-12 month stuff. There are a couple of pairs of trousers, but mostl shorts. Do you want them? It's about two large rubbish bags' worth.

I'm certain not using them again so I'd be happy to donate, then you can pass anything you don't want/need onto Foxy, Ms Recycle, anyone else...

mellow2 · 03/02/2007 10:22

Welcome slinkstar. Look forward to seeing you at a meet-up soon.

quokka · 03/02/2007 16:59

hi slinkstar - love the name! I live in the Gunnersbury part of Acton, there are a couple of us that live near to you. I have ds1 2yrs and ds2 1yrs and I'm a sahm.

Mellow Northfields is nice I was looking there until we decided to stay put. Little Ealing is a great school.

Paddlechick666 · 03/02/2007 18:47

evening all

well, what a day!

mad dash to MrsB to collect pics for Ma's birthday present.

then I got to meet the utterly enchanting Daniel. I have to say, I may need to re-negotiate dd's already arranged marriage! We've all said how lucky Daniel is to have SJ but actually I think she's rather hit the jackpot. He's gorgeous!

Then home to meet dh and the skids for an afternoon of playground fun. dd and the skids have just adored each other all afternoon.

Now dh is bathing all 3 and I'm having a moment to myself so what do I do? Get on here LOL!

Once dd is in bed (hopefully by 7:30pm) we're having a chinese then watching Narnia with popcorn.

Life is good...............

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 03/02/2007 19:48

Thank you Paddle - I think I am very lucky too. However... no-one wished me happy birthday...

lookingforwardtospring · 03/02/2007 19:55

Paddlechick, just about to order in a chinese, only slight drawback is that I don't know where from as we don't usually get takeaways, arf! Can you recommend somewhere? We are in Isleworth

Paddlechick666 · 03/02/2007 20:22

dunno if i'm too late but Lucky Garden on St Margarets road 020 8892 7363 is great.

it's at the end of our street but they do deliveries and their food is yum!

Paddlechick666 · 03/02/2007 20:23

SJ, Happy Birthday!!! when is/was it?!!!

sorry [blush}

foxabout2pop · 03/02/2007 20:43

OMG Sue!!!!!

You did actually mention it was your birthday and I did actually think "must buy a cake for Sue"!!!

I'm so sorry - Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birth-day dear Sue -ooooo
Happy Birthday to you!

Um my brain is not too good atm, due to being errr...heavily PG!

[am I forgiven?]

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 03/02/2007 20:58

Actually Foxie the laugh of it was that I'd forgotten too whilst I was at your house or I would have rubbed it in a bit more that you'd forgotten! Was too busy showing off my lovely son (like I can take any credit for him yet!).

He really doesn;t stop moving - caught him climbing the stairs this afternoon! Quokka's lend of a stair gate didn;t come too soon!

My mum is on her way around with Thai TAkeaway then tomorrow we are having Xmas/birthday lunch with all the family - yum turkey dinner. And watching the rugby.

Paddlechick666 · 03/02/2007 21:05

COME ON THE WELSH!

lookingforwardtospring · 03/02/2007 21:15

PC thanks so much for your recommendation! Was slightly too late, DH turned up with an absolutely average alternative - so will def make a note of Lucky Gdn for next time Mind you, I did enjoy the prawn toast

2Cute · 03/02/2007 23:53

Happy Birthday Sue It's your 21st right?

Paddle - Happy to hear things are going well in the paddle zone

Welcome Slinkstar!

Phew, after much ringing around all over the place, I've finally booked DS's birthday party. It's on Sunday 4th March 3:30pm - 5:30pm in Hounslow. I'll bring the details when we meet on 10th. So who'd like to come? Foxi - I demand that you keep your legs crossed til then so you can attend and I'll take some extra paper towels just in case foxcub decides to pop out for the party

Nanou - I've just emailed you.

2Cute · 03/02/2007 23:54

Oh and a big (belated) birthday kiss to babypud!

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 04/02/2007 00:05

where in Hounslow is it 2Cute? (how did you know I was 21? Spooky). My DS [proud emoticon] (haven't used that term before on MN!) hasn't been invited to a birthday party before...

foxabout2pop · 04/02/2007 07:42

Sue

the roast lunch today. I triesd to do one myself in earlt Dec for my bookclub and completely botched it although I have done perfectly adequate roasts in the past. DH cooks the bird and I do the veggies. There's a pub on Richmond Hill, the Roebuck, that doe fab family Sunday roasts.

You wouldn't think I'd just eaten my breakfast would you?

2cute - we'd love to come. I'm expecting DS 2 to appear sometime between 28 Feb and 3 March (the other two were 1 or 2 days before the EDD). So there's a high chance I might end up giving birth at your DS's party

I'd quite like to birth at West Mid Hospital again though - so that would be fine

Paddle - how was your evening?

Lookingforwardtospring - I'm a bit thick atm - have you changed your name or R U a newbie?
