Time for a new general chat thread

HAPPY NEW YEAR

OP posts:

I'm off MN for 24 hours and what do I find when I get back...A hi-jacking by north londoners?! What's going on?

Aquarium was great. Though I think I've traumatised DS after telling him the bits floating in the tank were the fish's poop, he was horrified that "eew dirty fish for not going on a potty!" We spent alot of the time finding nemo (boom boom) as the coral reef fish are near the exit.

Pud - How are your DS's birthday preps going? It's 2morrow right?

Nanou - really sorry about the tax issue I had my own run-in with the inland revenue last year. They aren't the most undestanding of people either. You can pay installments but have to pay interest on top.

Wave to everyone

uwila · 02/02/2007 15:09

Nope, it was a grin. So Quokka, tell us about him. Does he look at you funny as if to say "You speak that same weird language mummy speaks"? Did you buy his love with biscuits or was it a genuine cuddle?

mellow2 · 02/02/2007 15:23

I should move out of England to be further away from dh's family.

But I love London too much and I don't fit in anymore in Malaysia or Singapore.

sfxmum · 02/02/2007 15:24

hello everyone incl NL interloper

Sue would have loved to have seen you and met ds but only managed to leave the house at 11 took dd to run around Kew then shop in Richmond. sometime soon i hope at one of the local cafes

2happy that sounds like a great day out i am planning to go to the Science and Natural history museums soon, dd might be too young for most of it but i have great memories from taking niece and bephew there years ago.

i have guests over weekend so be baking tonight
hope you are all well

trying2bgood · 02/02/2007 15:32

Foxie - that is so funny and I suspect partly true. I remember when I was 19 and went to see a friend who lived in Lewishmam, I thought it was terrible and vowed that I would rather live in a tent than live in a mansion in south london! And I grew up in tottenham!

Mellow - I love london too. I think it is largely a great place to be and live.

Major - they always say acton is up and coming but I don't know when it will actually up and come! I think the people are lovely here on the whole and the transport links are great.

Nanou1 · 02/02/2007 15:36

this is what i will miss about acton when we move to south ealing - the transport links!

MrsRecycle · 02/02/2007 15:40

Hi Trying - how are you? My dh used to live in Lewisham and was horrified that he had to move West to be with me. But now he's here he wouldn't move back and detests even driving through South London. Still supports Spurs though!

mellow2 · 02/02/2007 15:56

Nanou,

What are the transport links like for South Ealing? [Drops voice to a whisper] we're planning to buy in South Ealing or Acton.

Nanou1 · 02/02/2007 16:12

hi mellow! bus or walk to acton town then 1 stop to south ealing - or 2 i can't remember?!

sfxmum · 02/02/2007 17:04

i wonder how MrsD is getting on, i expect it will take some time to recover

quokka · 02/02/2007 17:43

sorry guys been a bit busy, ds2 has friend over. He is beautiful, and he smiled at me right away no bribery needed! He has a lovely nature is is really friendly. He isn't as small as I thought he would be - big feet!!!!!

foxabout2pop · 02/02/2007 17:44

Were they moving today - it was the 2nd wasn't it? (PG brain - my excuse)

We lived in Peckham so I can claim more street cred than any of you softies!!

trying2bgood · 02/02/2007 18:11

Nanou - A friend of mine is moving to northfields today from Acton as well. It seems everyone wants to get out! Acton will miss you!

Mellow - have you thought about northfields? Lovely high street, good tube, and more importantly good primary schools esp little ealing. My friend (above) was telling me that the street she is moving to has 'mums nights out' and about 20 mums attend - this is one street! We have an acton mums night out group and we average about 6-8!!!!! What a difference!

MrsR - am well. LOL regarding your hubby. I am also a spurs fan, it's the best north london team, ahem, I mean arsenal originally came from woolwich!!! My hubby supports them - boo!

Quokka - I should be able to go on 10th so would be great to go together.

HI all
this thread moves so fast when I'm not looking.
We are not allowed internet access at work so can only catch up at evening .
dd in major 'rejecyion' huff so will spend most of this evening re-assurung her that I do love her and miss her terribly at work. Which, suprisingly I don't (miss her I mean). It just goes so fast I don't get teh chance to.

Bad mum alert?

and both have colds so am on snot clear up duty.

glad to see you're back in the swing Sue. Am sure I will catch up with everyone properly at dindins.

quokka · 02/02/2007 19:14

oxo sounnds like the job keeps you busy!

Boys in bed so finally have time to out my feet up.

Sj thanks for having us around today, you have a beautiful little ds and motherhood suits you !!!!

quokka · 02/02/2007 19:15

oxo meant to say you couldn't be bad mother even if you tried!

pudding77 · 02/02/2007 19:19

hi everyone, 2cute ds's birthday was last Friday! It went well considering he was teething and not really on great form!

We moved from Leyton to West London - surely that means I had street cred too?! If we move away from Brentford, then it will be out of London altogether, either up north or down to the coast.

And typical - dh won tickets to see the England vs Scotland game at Twickenham tomorrow and we can't go so bil going instead

MrsRecycle · 02/02/2007 20:44

Ooh and another boast for Ruislip - we have FIVE yes 5 tube stations! Come-on ladies move out my way - I used to live in Ealing (Cleveland Road near Pitshanger) but much prefer Ruislip and the schools are very good.

sfxmum · 02/02/2007 21:22

mrsR are you paid by your council's tourist board?

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 21:28

Don;t be silly - you can't possibly have 5 tube stations...

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 21:29

And I don;t think there's been anything like enough ooh'ing and ah'ing over how lovely Daniel is. Quokka is a woman of rare insight and vast experience - she knows quality when she sees it, you know.

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 21:31

and she gave me lots of Mothercare vouchers which are fantastic. HAd to stop myself rushing out and buying a pile of shiny new stuff I don't need - went to Sainsburys instead while my mum looked after D for an hour. Little bugger had a lovely time and didn;t miss me at all

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2007 21:36

OK so there is Ruislip, Ruislip Manor, Ruislip Gardens, West Ruislip and ?

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2007 21:37

Sue is there anything he does need? I have a 2 year old ds (born in dec so right "season") and a garage full of stuff so if there is anything give me a holler and I'll see what I can do.

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 21:53

Cov - I think you're making those tube stations up.

Very short of socks at the moment! And could do with another pair of hands...
