Sue have you forgotten where I have just moved from? Guess you could say I saw the error of my ways .

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 12:17

blimey Cov - I can;t imagine still being awake at 3.30am these days!

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 02/02/2007 12:18

exactly - I wasn;t going to mention it Cov - no point rubbing peoples noses in their previous mistakes

comeoveneer · 02/02/2007 12:27

It nearly killed me. It was a friend of dh's (and mine to I guess) and I was sittingnext to dh on the sofa nudging him and giving him "looks", plus exaggerated yawns, but it wasn't working.

Paddlechick666 · 02/02/2007 13:33

Sue, stop disabusing people of the notion that West London is cool and trendy!

As for single with no mates, yeah well thanks a bunch! that's told the West London posse!

do i qualify as single? semi-single? part-time single? married single-parent? LOL.

I had a single friend who is desperate to settle down and have kids stay one weekend. She was great, fitted in with the routine, entertained herself. Tried to entertain dd so I could have a shower etc but I think the experience may have affected her.

She left saying "jesus to christ it's hard work!" and tbh, she failed to keep dd happy whilst i showered!!

i very rarely have people to visit in the evenings nowadays, once DD is in bed i relish my quiet time.

trying2bgood · 02/02/2007 13:43

single friends are difficult, sometimes I love it as when you go out with them, you talk about other subjects rather than just kids but on the other hand sometimes they don't get the whole 'need to plan' and 'check whether it is ok' business. Things are a lot easier now as many more of my friends have babies or planning to have kids. It makes me laugh when they complain about their own single friends!

trying2bgood · 02/02/2007 13:45

Parts of west london are trendy but not acton! It is edgy and real though! Being a native north londoner I consider that to be the land of the truly cool and trendy!

pudding77 · 02/02/2007 13:45

I remember people coming over to visit just after ds had been born, I'd take him off to bed but was so tired would also end up going to bed and they'd be left wondering where I'd got to

How is everyone?

majorstress · 02/02/2007 13:52

I used to work in Acton, edgy is a good word for it. I saw 2 women having a huge punch-up twice (different sets and occasions) as I left work to go to the station. Though we call our current abode ASBO avenue, I haven't witnessed any punch-ups.

foxabout2pop · 02/02/2007 14:03

I remember someone saying to me that south Londoners are people who can't afford to live in north London.....and north Londers are people who are too scared to live in south London!

I like seeing my single friends on Saturdays for a walk, so the kids can run free and we can chat. Hate them coming over during the week - or "on school days" as they say.

CoV/MrsR - any boys clothes welcome. newborn-1 year after Sue has had a turn, as I've already got some of DS's old stuff, but love hand me downs which are handed over to me

I love Quilon from waitrose too - its wonderful and we eat it once a week

The kids love the chicken korma - its their fave food.

Am off on a girls nice out tonight to my fave restuarant, Escale (licks lips)

foxabout2pop · 02/02/2007 14:04

major - which bit of NL do you live in - Hackney by the sounds of ASBO aveneue LOL!

Paddlechick666 · 02/02/2007 14:08

Hackney's East London Foxie!

Just had a nice pub lunch with old friend so suppose i should do some work this arvo!

mind you, am leaving at 3:30 to catch Richmond shops so I don't have any errands to do tomorrow.

i think it's unreasonable to be on a conference call and have one of the other participants tell you about the Toblerone they're eating.............

quokka · 02/02/2007 14:08

he's so lovely!!!! I got lots of smiles and a cuddle . Thanks for having us SJ, found the bolt on my front door mat so will send it over soon!

Paddlechick666 · 02/02/2007 14:09

ps: we took kids to Pontins near Bristol 2 years ago and I renamed it Asbo Land!

Paddlechick666 · 02/02/2007 14:09

uho! duck and cover Quokka! Uwila's gonna kick your ass for gloating!!!

comeoveneer · 02/02/2007 14:09

You'll have Uwila after you in a mo .

uwila · 02/02/2007 14:17

I think it's lovely that you got to meet him Quokka.

foxabout2pop · 02/02/2007 14:22

Grin Wink

Paddlechick666 · 02/02/2007 14:29

that's not a grin icon at the end of Uwila's post, it;s a gritted teeth, pretending not to be jealous icon!

majorstress · 02/02/2007 14:29

Hackney! I live in Mill Hill, north of Hendon, which has lots of millionaires. Then there is ASBO avenue, built so that the millionaires can look down from the Ridgeway, and gloat.

majorstress · 02/02/2007 14:30

MN needs a green gritted teeth icon then?

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2007 14:31

Mill Hill, you are just around the corner from where I lived (Woodside Park).

majorstress · 02/02/2007 14:38

so is it nicer? why did you move?

ComeOVeneer · 02/02/2007 14:40

Much nicer, bigger house (extra 800 sq ft), nearer to my family, further from dh's family , still commutable for dh's work in the city (takes the same time), more greenery, etc etc.

majorstress · 02/02/2007 14:42

"further from dh's family "
