Time for a new general chat thread

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Thanks Paddle. DS is still sleeping poor thing - he's a wee bit under the weather. Am tempted to venture out without the family but don't know if I can face shopping alone....I kind of get used to telling them off during shopping trips and don't know whether I'd be able to shop without the stress any more

Or maybe just can't peel myself of MN

MrsRecycle · 28/01/2007 09:56

Fox - thanks for thinking of me (and yourself ).

What a brilliant idea!!

Paddlechick666 · 28/01/2007 09:57

well, i'm not revolting at that LOL!

it'd have to be a lunch thing tho tbh, dd is ready for bed too early for a sophisticated evening out these days!

happy for you to bring foxcub#3 anytime tho - also happy to have cuddles while you eat

mellownomore · 28/01/2007 09:59

PC,
I've just texted you. Sorry I just found out you texted me on my other mobile. I'm using my work mobile now. I would love to see you at Fat Boys.

Foxie,
I think that's a great idea to have meet ups with babes. This way, PC and others can come. But is dinner too late for the LOs? Lunch? Is that too controversial?

[runs away too . . .]

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 10:04

How about a 3.30/4pm meet one Sunday for a couple of hours?

I wouldn't dream of bringing DS/DD BTW, just babies . The older ones would be far too demanding.... at the very thought of it!

My book club meets at about 3pm Sunday and its quite a good time - means we all get home at a reasonable time for getting ready for work/school etc on Monday, but still feel we "been out".

at the thought of getting my norks out in a restaurant again!!

Paddlechick666 · 28/01/2007 10:16

sounds good to me!

off to tesco now Foxie, maybe see ya there. you can tick me off all the way round if you like LOL!

sfxmum · 28/01/2007 10:20

hello all

i think as the weather warms up it is easier to go somewhere with the children, preferably somewhere with outdoor seating.

my plan for today is get dh and dd off to swimming pool and do some tidying up - oh my glamorous life!and catch up with study my book and yesterdays paper - bit too ambitious
might be tempted to go out too but really should not really need to put some order in this place

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 10:26

Paddle - if you're a good girl, I might buy you a treat...a small treat mind

DS is still asleep....

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 10:28

sfx - good point. When it warms up we must definately do a meet up at the Anglers in Teddington, with its great play area etc....

uwila · 28/01/2007 14:44

I'm happy to do weekend meet ups with kids, but I would probably request that older ones (aged almost 2 and almost 4) are also invited.

Actually there's no reason not to still have evening dinner / booze up meets. I mean let's be serious one does not cancel the other. :-)

Actually I very much welcome the idea of meet ups with kids on the weekend. I've always found that being a working mum I miss out on all the play date stuff. So I'd like if all the West London Meet up kids could play together more.

If you guys want I could take a turn hosting (like Foxy did in December)? That is, of course, if people don't mind venturing out to Sunbury.

uwila · 28/01/2007 14:46

What is the anglers?

MrsBigD · 28/01/2007 15:08

I'd be happy to host in Marlow

foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 15:42

Great stuff

Uwila the Anglers is a pub by the river in Teddington, which has a great playground and really nice food. So the grown ups can be grown ups and the kids can play. They also do kids dinners. Its outside though, so we have to wait until its warmer.

Daytime playdates at the weekend is a great idea too

But with regard to the restaurant thing, there will be those of us with young babies or who can't get babysitters, who could bring the babies with us if we choose the right kind of restaurant. That would mean that Paddle, Sue, me and others can still meet and eat.

It'll be much easier once we can sopread outside though, as sfx said earlier.

We went to Tesco at about 11am and have just got back. TBH it does actually feel as though we spent 4 hours in Tesco !!

sfxmum · 28/01/2007 15:49

flat a bit cleaner now

Paddle got me thinking about going to the movies, i love cinema and remember fondly the bliss of the double and triple bills at the Electric in Portobello and the Riverside studios (before that area went all new labour River Cafe)

these days i think i would might just fall asleep, unless it would be a double bill of the new James Bond and the Bourne thing, sheer lusting should keep me awake

Paddlechick666 · 28/01/2007 19:47

evening all

well dd has gone to bed without a feed. she had some cows milk and then we had about 30 mins of thrashing and bashing but not on the scale previously experienced.

not sure how i feel! mixed emotions.

hope you all have a peaceful night

MrsBigD · 28/01/2007 19:53

let's hope she'll let you sleep tonight . As for mixed emotions... you've 'lasted' a long time so be proud

suejonezisdanielsmummy · 28/01/2007 20:13

Haven't seen Lemonaid around since I've been back - is she away?

MrsBigD · 28/01/2007 20:24

I think I saw her back on one of the other threads. Believe she went into 'hibernation' for a while due to not being well.

OP posts:
foxabout2pop · 28/01/2007 20:34

Paddle - MrsD is right, you've fed DD for an admirable length of time. Its a wierd feeling giving up isn't it?

Hope she sleeps well tonight

sfxmum · 28/01/2007 21:12

paddle hugs to you be ok soon enough you two have a great relationship

xoxo · 28/01/2007 21:32

hi all, suggest that in warmer weather we do picnics? with booze. still don't know where of course

also I'm well up for Pizza Express with kids - an early dinner say 4.30 - 5pm on saturday/ sundays would be fab. PE in Richmond has a small garden taht we could commandeer

But - can the next one be a mums only one? plenty of wine needed

Paddlechick666 · 29/01/2007 07:49

morning all

well, dd slept till 7 without a peep! not that I did! went to bed at 10:30 and tossed and turned all night!

dh's birthday today, he's coming for dinner!!

thanks for all your comments about the bf. sfx, that was a really lovely thing to say and made me feel heaps better.

there's been a great deal more kissing and cuddling which is always nice!

maybe she's been ready longer than me huh!

kids LOL.

quokka · 29/01/2007 08:52

Well done to dd PC! Have a fab time tonight, let me know how it all goes?

quokka · 29/01/2007 08:57

I agree oxo, can this one be lo free? Then we can do some baby friendly places, when its a bit warmer. Or we could do PE for an early dinner with the kids then someone could whisk the kids away and then we bring out the booze!

foxabout2pop · 29/01/2007 09:27

I didn't know PE had a garden!! That sounds very inviting

Kew Gardens picnics are great and I intend to have at least one MN one in my garden in July/August.
