Time for a new general chat thread

HAPPY NEW YEAR

We nearly lost DD a couple of years ago on the beach in Portugal. This huge wave came in, which reached about shoulder height on an adult and swept all the towels etc away. Luckily DH reacted very quickly and grabbed DD, but had to really hang onto her so she didn't get swept into the sea (she was one at the time). DS found it hilarious for some reason

More importantly our camera didn't get ruined as I was holding it...

sfxmum · 18/01/2007 17:33

did you film it foxie?

foxabout2pop · 18/01/2007 17:44

Nah not that quick unfortunately..

I have an unrelated question. I need to buy a new mobile phone as I have to give my work one back once I pop.

I just want a basic cheap one - nothing fancy or techy as I won't be able to understand it anyway.

Anyone got one they love which they can recommend??

sfxmum · 18/01/2007 17:59

i have this and i like it very much quite simple just big enough so i don't loose it

foxabout2pop · 18/01/2007 18:07

Video??

Quanta Costa?

sfxmum · 18/01/2007 18:16

oh foxie you flatter me! custa £100 more or less got it at carphone warehouse back in june Payg

foxabout2pop · 18/01/2007 18:18

pay as you go or monthly bill etc which is better...?

that is the question

pudding77 · 18/01/2007 18:18

I've got this one which I like.

Cost depends on what you want - you can either get a contract and pay monthly in which case most places will give you the phone for free or you can get a pay as you go and I think then you buy the phone outright. I usually just go to Carphone Warehouse and let them talk me through it all!

pudding77 · 18/01/2007 18:20

oops, cross-posted! If you can get a good contract then they can work out cheaper than payg.

2Cute · 18/01/2007 18:40

Evening all.

It looked like every toddler in the area was at the Lollipop today. I guess everyone was hiding from the weather. Paddle - I recognised your DD but didn't want to look like a plum so went up to your mum saying your little girl looks alot like a friend's child and it was! Your mum's lovely BTW. Your DD was having a good time, she's a right little exporer now isn't she?

2Cute · 18/01/2007 18:43

That was explorer....wind's gone to my head.

sfxmum · 18/01/2007 19:30

just before dinner dd flew off her rocking horse type thing head first into her box of bookslight cut lip cue screaming, once she calmed down she got back on the horsei choose to believe she is brave

Paddlechick666 · 18/01/2007 19:51

evening all, total nightmare getting back from waterloo tonight. sprinting up and down the platforms as they changed the richmond train departure point!

swear the rail staff do it for a laugh!

2cute, ma said she'd met you too LOL. dd is into everything now!

off to sign contracts with new CM shortly.

foxie, I've got one old phone and am about to upgrade so will have 2 old phones. i always like to keep a back up.

would you be interested in it? unfortunately i can't seem to find a link to it.

can look it out for you - it's Orange so you'll need an Orange sim or an unlock for it.

might just be easier to get a free handset on a plan or pay as you go tho........

MrsBigD · 18/01/2007 20:49

foxie I got my phone from
this lot . My plan is quite expensive but I've got heaps of free texts and minutes. Though there's heaps of selection on that site

Everybody home safe and sound or anybody still braving the high winds?

OP posts:
Paddlechick666 · 18/01/2007 21:29

foxie, it's a nokia 6680 does photo and text but not 3g. your ds will love it LOL!

i know it's around here somewhere!

mrsb, just texted you about that car seat. me and CM are thinking to go halves on one as she hasn't got one and i can't be fagged to take mine out etc.

maybe i could get some details and have a look Sunday?

well contracts all signed and dd goes for 2 hours tomorrow. keep 'em crossed she settles in well........

mellownomore · 18/01/2007 21:37

I had the worst possible time coming back from my meeting in Coventry today. I spent 6 and a half hours getting back to Brentford.

Train back to London terminated at Northampton 'cos the power was down. I had to pay £25 taxi to go to another station and finally got on a train which got in at 5 pm then spent 2 and a half hours on train then tube to get home.

I think work would be okay if you didn't have to deal with the horrible public transport system.

Hi all
just packing to go to Dorset for the weekend and thought I'd pop in and say have a BRILLIANT night out tomorrow. MrsR: we will miss you but Marlow is only an hour away - and very beautiful!! expect visitors (esp little noisy ones).

also - Quokka and family - have a fab birthday party. someone take photos.

and I wnat to hear all the gossip when I get back!! dancing on tables, getting kicked out of nightclubs etc

also - am having a clear out. does anyone need the following:
-2 wooden (birch I think) 'pressure' stair gates (the expensive type - idiot mother!!)
-1 child car seat (Brittax, with reclining mode) from 9mths to 4 yrs (unless you have tall little girl!)
pop up samsonite portable baby cot (works up to say 6 mths when they start to sit up)
-toys
-clothes for girl (aged 1-2)
-Boys clothes (age 3 -4)

bye for now. off to acquire a taste for cider (puking expression)

cheers

mellownomore · 19/01/2007 09:41

Where did you get your nappy pail? Was it bought online? I'd like to get one just like that.
