Good Morning Campers Smile

Sorry for starting this a bit late - meant to do it last night Blush

Here's the spreadsheet

Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Already seen some great losses recorded on the Week 1 thread so that's heartening Smile. It's always great seeing how newbies see that it really does work Grin

But don't despair if you haven't lost as much as others. Remember, this isn't a competition. We're all here with different startpoints, and everyone loses at a different rate anyway. We all need to KOKO.

One more week of strict Boot Camp and then we can choose to go on to Boot Canp Light for those of us who want to Halo

@prettybird we had water collecting in the bottom of our downstairs hotpress, literally where the pipes come up out of the floor. We assumed it was a leak from the hot water system but it was from the roof but presented as a wet patch coming up from floor level. Have you had heavy rain since your neighbour reported it having stopped?

@debka is it an actual phone you're on? I'm not a nurse but also spend alot of time on phone. Have swapped my wired headset for a Bluetooth one so I can pace up and down my office while I'm on the phone. Assumes you're not in an open plan office though Grin

Too many cups of tea today (milk in all of them). Don't like drinking coffee after lunchtime but wanted something hot and tea with milk is my favourite. Had 3 or 4 cups. Ordered buttermint teabags from ebay today, an expensive way to buy them but cheaper than going to a big out of town supermarket just for that.

Didn't weigh this morning, going to try to give it at least a week before I weigh again.

Baystard · 25/10/2022 20:13

@Skiphopbump great reminder about pork scratchings. They're a bit crunchy given my dental history but porky puffs on the other hand...

prettybird · 25/10/2022 20:52

@Baystard - we've had the rain from hell at the end of last week and most of Saturday - so that has also crossed my mind.

It's been relatively dry since then but more really heavy rain is due tonight, so dh is going to be turning the water off at 10 Grin

Had more lovely courgetti bolognaise tonight - the joy of having batch cooked a ragu a few weeks ago Smile

Must get on with drinking my water Shock

Evening all, watching bake off whilst meal planning isn't a good idea I've found 😀 today has been good, and managed to keep on top of water in the office.

B Greek yog and cinnamon
L chicken and parmesan salad
D sausages and FLGV
S mouthful of scrambled egg to encourage dd to eat hers
W 3litres (and 2 coffees)

My nsv is that I have finallt shifted my cough (I think), but the sore throat from hell continues. Been almost 3 weeks now so might have to admit defeat and attempt to get a gp appointment in a useful time frame

RuLu · 25/10/2022 21:30

Breakfast- nothing as I was fasting
Lunch - Broccoli soup
Snack - fat bomb
Dinner - a dish I invented which involved frying a load of cabbage in butter & adding bacon, garlic then served with grated cheese on top. I'll be making it again as it was good! Followed by 4 raspberries, 2 small chopped strawberries & ricotta mixed with double cream!

RuLu · 25/10/2022 21:31

You can get salt & vinegar pork scratchings! They are sooooo good

Lucienandjean · 25/10/2022 22:40

B: nothing
L: sausages and fried eggs
D: pork chop, Brussels sprouts, fried mushrooms and tomato
S: a spoonful of clotted cream. A handful of radishes.

Yes, yes, all the water. 💦

CaffeineFreee · 26/10/2022 00:02

B. Eggs and salmon
L. Chicken Ceaser
D. Chowder, buttery broccoli with pesto
S. Greek yogurt

TakeItCheesy · 26/10/2022 00:26

Congratulations on the mortgage freedom @prettybird!

Ok day today I think, though I've been hit by insomnia again. Realised that I often snack on carbs things to soothe the wired feeling insomnia gives me, so doing a bit of sewing to distract myself.

B: 2 eggs and 1/2 avocado, plus 2 coffees with a dash of cream
L: celery salad with a bit of chorizo
D: Moroccan pulled pork with a lemony green bean salad
S: spiced chai tea with a bit of squirty cream. Had this while my (thin as a rake!) partner had hot choc made with double cream and caramel sauce, so feeling pretty virtuous despite the extra dairy.

Backstreets · 26/10/2022 05:31

Good morning! Period arrived which explains why I've been feeling a bit (a lot) miserable and listless, can't wait for it to fuck off. I need to get myself together and keep up with the water rather than mindlessly scroll - work is busy and that's great but I find it takes me hours to decompress lately. Think I'll try to leave a bit early today. Scales say things are moving in the right direction. Very tempted to go in the box of clothes marked "too small" but will resist until we're a bit further in ;)

ditavonteesed · 26/10/2022 07:25

Morning, I seem to have without planning slipped into an extended fast, I last ate at 11pm on Monday on nights and went to bed like normal yesterday, when I woke up I wasn't hungry so I thought I'm not eating for the sake of it. Have woke up this morning still not hungry so will leave breakfast till after I've walked the dogs. @StuntNun I know you do extended fasts, how long do you normally do it for? And how often? I feel really good. Not sure I could have planned it.

I'm a seasoned low carber I know fasting not recommended for first 2 weeks of bootcamp.

BIWI · 26/10/2022 07:58

@RuLu are you doing Bootcamp Light? If not, then you shouldn't be eating fruit at this stage

RuLu · 26/10/2022 07:59

I was still under 20g of carbs for the day so I can't see the problem?

Jollyholibobs · 26/10/2022 08:04

Hope you got off to sleep @TakeItCheesy . Doing bootcamp this time I also am focusing on sleeping better and reducing screen time and caffeine. I definitely know that when I haven’t slept well I crave carbs.

Congrats on mortgage @prettybird

Have weighed in late this morning showing 3.2lbs down. It’s a little more than a week as my starting weight was last Tuesday. I should expect less loss next week.

I finally made it back from Scotland last night after my flight being cancelled on Monday. Had to pay an extra £67 to get out of car park in Luton. I had opted for the one nearest the terminal as I should have been returning to my car at about 23.00. 😥

Getting my COVID booster this morning and hoping it doesn’t make me poorly as DH was wiped out last week.

B Scrambled egg and Swiss chard
L tuna salad
D fish pie with celeriac mash topping and flgv.

Lolojojonesi · 26/10/2022 08:31

I'm also in Scotland! Though I'm from Yorkshire so learn all my Scots off my husband,. Favourite word is hattered, which means tired and stressed out - very applicable to work (finishing big big project) and home (increasingly expensive building work) at the moment!

I was 4.4lbs down last week - really pleased - but am anxious about keeping going given stressful times, plus it's my older son's 21st birthday on Friday and we're going out for a big dinner. Lots of seafood so the meal itself shouldn't be a problem, but have ordered a big cake and I think I'll have a slice and then go back to bootcamp on Saturday for an extra few days. He's only 21 once, right?

Really inspiring to read all your menus - thank you.
B - baked eggs
L - sardines, home made mayo and salad
D - maybe tofu shashlik, need to double check ingredients for carbs.

StuntNun · 26/10/2022 08:35

@ditavonteesed I'll answer you on the low carb fasting thread so as not to derail this one. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/fasting_diet/4158937-Combining-fasting-with-low-carb-1 It will be later today though as I'm busy at the mo.

prettybird · 26/10/2022 09:02

@RuLu - there are two reasons we don't allow fruit in the first two weeks: one is that we don't count carbs on this WoE (the whole point is to make it easy) and the other (probably more important) reason is that we're trying to break the hold that "sweet" things (like fruit) have on us.

After the first two weeks, you can go onto Boot Camp Light and reintroduce fruit, high cocoa chocolate, low carb alcohol (dry wine, certain spirits) and nuts/seeds in moderation not all at once Wink

The only exception is if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, in which case you can start on Boot Camp Light immediately Smile

I was still under 20g of carbs for the day so I can't see the problem?

Have you read Bootcamp rules?!

venusandmars · 26/10/2022 09:20

@Lolojojonesi I'd agree with you on the one small slice of cake. You might be surprised by how sweet you find it, so notice whether you actually enjoy it, or whether you're just enjoying being part of the occasion.

I've got lamb casserole in the slow cooker for dinner tonight. I cooked duck legs in it a few days ago and still have the fat and juices left from that (in the fridge not left lying in the slow cooker!) - it's all joined the lamb along with some shallot, onion and porcinni mushrooms. To be served with green beans and broccoli.

B - avocado, coffee with cream
L - left over chicken with salad and mayonnaise

Pickmeup78 · 26/10/2022 12:09

Also started late due to being ill last week - but I'm fully committed 😀

FinallyHere · 26/10/2022 13:26

@Backstreets

Very tempted to go in the box of clothes marked "too small" but will resist until we're a bit further in

Such a good feeling when you get a win in that department. I left it six months this time round, and only checked 'the pile' when the weather started to get a bit autumn-y

My bottom half seems to have skipped over a good few sizes while my top half only really one size down but now skimming rather than bulging .

Such concrete confirmation of the success of boot-camping.

Crazyone84 · 26/10/2022 14:13

feeling a bit "off" today, bit shaky and heady, not hungry. had lots of water , might be to do with TOTM but not sure, any words of advice or help I would be greatful

Mercedesbenz2022 · 26/10/2022 14:27

I Got the pork scratchings !
needed some crunch and these hit the spot . Also they feel like a treat and as if they are ‘ not allowed’ when of course they are
koko

BIWI · 26/10/2022 14:32
