BIWI · 19/09/2022 20:07

By now I'm sure you've all entered your final weight on the spreadsheet

So sorry for the very, very late posting of this thread!

I'm off on holiday, leaving very early tomorrow morning, so not much time to catch up on everyone's progress. But needless to say, I hope that you have enjoyed this Bootcamp, and that you've made good progress towards whatever goals you have set for yourself.

I will have my laptop with me and, wifi willing, will try and catch up with the thread/everyone while I'm away.

Re M&S, I enjoy their Greek salad with prawns, or chicken or squid rings. I've also see a protein pot of hard boiled egg and spinach which works, too.

Bonus points when they have crackling.

Agree with the frustration that so much is padded out with pasta.

prettybird · 04/10/2022 14:53

Friend died unexpectedly quickly this morning Sad so it might take a couple of days to process Sad

But it means I'll need a pre-Christmas Boot Camp all the more to stop the comfort/stress eating so I'm still happy to run the next one as something positive to do.

BIWI · 04/10/2022 15:36

I'm so sorry to hear that @prettybird - and absolutely you should take time to process that Sad Flowers

Accountability post.
B = Greek yoghurt and cinnamon
L = chicken and parmesan salad
D = salmon and veggies
S = chunk of cheddar

Need to up the water intake tomorrow

ditavonteesed · 05/10/2022 06:53

Hope you managed to sleep ok and are getting some time to process things @prettybird.
I managed to drag my butt out of bed post nights and to the gym. I was rewarded with a 2lb whoosh overnight so definitely worth the effort.
My new journal is very motivating.

On the health/mental health side of things I got the blood results back and I'm iron deficient so that could well explain everything. Going to try and get to gp today.

Low-Carb Diet and Anemia

Anemia is a medical condition in which your body doesn't have enough red blood cells. Although diet isn't the only cause, not eating enough foods rich in iron, vitamin B-12 or folate can lead to a decrease in production of red blood cells. Upping your intake of animal meat, tofu and green leafy veggies such as spinach boosts the amount of iron in your diet and is part of the treatment diet for anemia. These foods also make up the basis of the low-carb diet.

To get more iron on your low-carb diet, include foods such as red meat, poultry, seafood, tofu, spinach or eggs at most meals. Vitamin C improves iron absorption. Most fruits and veggies are a source of vitamin C, but those especially rich in the vitamin and low in carbs include peppers, tomatoes, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower and strawberries.

I’ve been on for a week now and lost 3.5lbs, timed it with my ovulation week where I fluctuate a lb or two, but happy with that.

I’ve been to the GP this morning for my annual review for my BP (raised in pregnancy and never came back down properly). I stopped taking medication after DS was about 6 months old, as at 28 I didn’t want to be medicated, bit silly I know.
I’m 32 and need to think about taking care of myself propery and was worried about my BP.
So, I decided to bite the bullet and go today expecting a lecture. BP is on the higher end of normal 😀told them about LCHF and going to gym, they have agreed to review again in 12 months time and no medication for now. Little win for today.

ditavonteesed · 05/10/2022 11:15

@ListenLinda that's excellent news.

Dr wasn't bothered about my iron levels so I'll just keep on with diet changes. Got some propanalol for anxiety symptoms. Hoping it takes the edge off so I can be a functioning human.

FinallyHere · 05/10/2022 13:15

@ListenLinda great news from the GP

prettybird · 05/10/2022 16:02

I've started a sign-up thread for the next Boot Camp.

Sign Up: 17 October Pre-Christmas Boot Camp http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/lowcarbb_bootcamp/4648765-sign-up-17-october-pre-christmas-boot-camp

ShineOnYouLikeMorningStar · 05/10/2022 16:38

Can anyone else get that link to work? I’m getting an error 404 when I click it.

prettybird · 05/10/2022 16:58

I used the official "share" from the app @ShineOnYouLikeMorningStar Confused

When I'm next on the laptop, I'll try and copying and pasting the link on a browser.

Lougle · 05/10/2022 17:30

@prettybird sorry to hear about your friend.

Try this link:
Sign Up: 17 October Pre-Christmas Boot Camp https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/low_carb_bootcamp/4648765-sign-up-17-october-pre-christmas-boot-camp

You had a couple of characters missing and so it split the link in two.

prettybird · 05/10/2022 17:35

Still not sure why it has characters missing: it was from the "share" facility on the app which loads it directly into the clipboard, complete with thread title and the only thing I changed was to put the ^ either side of the thread title to italicise it Confused - and it still works if I try it from this thread while I'm in the appConfused

Must be an app quirk/glitch. Hmm

FinallyHere · 05/10/2022 18:33

The 1st link works ok for me. I'm using the app...

Chocasaurus · 05/10/2022 20:56

@prettybird thanks for the sign up thread, I'm in!

Today's meals
B = Greek yoghurt with cinnamon
L = picky plate of ham, cheese, cucumber, green pepper and small handful of berries
D = bacon and veg fritatta with salad

Water intake much better today. Just catching up on bake off and the struggle to not eat cake is real!

prettybird · 05/10/2022 21:08

I'll do a prep thread for the next Boot Camp next week when I'm feeling in a better place Smile. I'll definitely be needing to do BootCamp by then Blush - and so will dh (we're doing a fair bit of comfort drinking in memory of our dear friend, who'd been dh's study buddy when they were studying to be MWs although they didn't pass the exams Wink) He's going to do Boot Camp with me - but won't weigh himself Hmm

In the office today and did not get up in time to make lunch, I thought, ah there is an M&S foodhall next to the train station.

Why do most of their salads have pasta/orzo/couscous/rice in them?

I really struggled to find anything, ended up with a greek salad and king prawns marinated in chilli and oil, with a pot of greek yoghurt.

does anyone have any recommendations for things from M&S, for the days when my alarm doesn’t go off!

I pick three of the 3 for £8 selection and make sure to check the carb counts on the labels. Their Ploughman's Pot is nice and I will usually go for one of the prawn options and I love the Turmeric Cauliflower Florets. If you need "dessert" as well their dark Swiss chocolate is lovely, especially the Dark Chocolate Mountain Bar.

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 07:35

Thanks @StuntNun they sound like good choices.

I balked a bit at the price, when i’m used to paying £3.00 for the Sainsburys meal deal but it’s only once a week I go into the office so I figured it’s okay once in a while, I’ve resolved to getting a bit more organised next time!
