BIWI · 19/09/2022 20:07

By now I'm sure you've all entered your final weight on the spreadsheet

So sorry for the very, very late posting of this thread!

I'm off on holiday, leaving very early tomorrow morning, so not much time to catch up on everyone's progress. But needless to say, I hope that you have enjoyed this Bootcamp, and that you've made good progress towards whatever goals you have set for yourself.

I will have my laptop with me and, wifi willing, will try and catch up with the thread/everyone while I'm away.

Afternoon everyone 😊 I was a newbie on the last thread, now had a name change.
Homemade chicken curry with cauliflower rice for me tonight.

3 weeks in and 6lbs lost. Feeling good!

BIWI · 01/10/2022 20:30

Great progress @PopSingersFearOfThePollenCount !

I had gammon and green veg. Was lovely.

Sunsnowsun · 02/10/2022 09:10

i have bolognaise with green veg, family had spaghetti, I really don’t miss the pasta.

Have stayed the same this week, but not been doing as much walking as have been in a training course.

ListenLinda · 02/10/2022 13:21

Just inadvertently missed breakfast, wasn’t hungry at all so decided to crack on with the cleaning. Went to make the kids & my lunch and noticed it’s the first thing I had eaten. Hopefully that’s a good sign!

ditavonteesed · 02/10/2022 15:32

@ListenLinda definitely a good sign.
I had the left over gammon and eggs for my lunch today. Got salmon and sprouts for dinner and soup for supper at work.

Wish me will power for work that's been my downfall for a few weeks now but I'm determined to get back on it.

Whicker · 03/10/2022 13:06

Bit of a shaky weekend, but an exemplary start to today, apart from not enough water. Three weeks till I have to appear in a swimming costume in front of colleagues, so a bit of renewed focus is no bad thing.

@BIWI , are you still undecided about whether to run a pre Christmas bootcamp? I’m sure everyone would totally
understand if you didn’t - you deserve an award for how much you’ve done for people as it is - but I was just wondering what your current thoughts were.

FinallyHere · 03/10/2022 13:37

Hello lovely people. Checking in on how everyone is doing.

Holiday still going well here. Had the odd glass of something bubbly but mostly it's about all.the.water and feeling really good about this way of eating. It's effortless eating in restaurants, all have been totally accommodating about swapping things around, raw cabbage or spinach for potatoes.

Had a small cloud in the sky this morning. Took 30mins to restore the totally blue sky 😁

ZiggZagg · 03/10/2022 14:03

Hi everyone currently coming to the end of my cruise and about a million stone heavier, so just placemarking to get right back to it when I get home 😭

BIWI · 03/10/2022 15:17

@Whicker I think it's probably not a good idea for me to do it - we have family coming over from Oz staying with us for most of December, so there's going to be a lot of prep work for that before they arrive.

But I'm fairly sure that @prettybird has offered to run one?

OP posts:
Whicker · 03/10/2022 15:47

That sounds entirely sensible @BIWI ! I will look out for any threads from @prettybird :)

prettybird · 03/10/2022 19:53

I did indeed @BIWI Grin - along as @FinallyHere agrees to look after the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness Wink

Just having to deal with some personal stuff at the moment - a friend is seriously ill and on palliative care Sad. Hopefully he'll be stabilised in the next day or so.

I'll start a sign-up thread tomorrow or Wednesday.

BIWI · 03/10/2022 20:19

Sorry to hear about your friend @prettybird Sad

Chocasaurus · 03/10/2022 21:32

Sorry to hear about your friend @prettybird and no rush to sort the sign up thread - thank you for offering to do it. I definitely will be joining as struggling a bit with it at the moment...too much temptation at work from chocolate/treats. Start the day well but then waver mid afternoon 😣

FinallyHere · 03/10/2022 22:34

Sorry to hear about your friend @prettybird

And thank you for offering to run the next bootcamp.

I'm delighted to report for spreadsheet duties on bootcamp.

Looking forward to it.

ditavonteesed · 04/10/2022 00:46

@prettybird so sorry to hear about your friend.

CleanQueen123 · 04/10/2022 06:23

Oh gosh @prettybird. I'm so sorry about your friend. Absolutely no rush for a pre Christmas bootcamp.

We seem to be chatting away and keeping more or less on the straight and narrow here.

Mercedesbenz2022 · 04/10/2022 07:30

Checking in to placemark
pre holiday and Christmas focus for me , and picking up ideas for meals going into winter.

sorry to hear about your friend @prettybird

@biwi

BIWI · 04/10/2022 09:37

Now - here's a challenge for you all.

When said Oz family arrives, I will be catering for 6 adults and 2 10yos.

The children are mainly vegetarian - any fish they eat will be of the fish finger variety - and their mum is pescatarian. The children have fairly limited repertoires, so will mainly be pasta/pizza based, so freezer foods really, which will be easy to accommodate.

The rest of us will eat anything.

As they will be with us for just shy of a fortnight, and they have a fairly limited budget for their time here, I need to come up with some dishes I can cook for us all. I'm going to make some stuff in advance and freeze it, so this is what I'm thinking so far:

  • one meat lasagne and one veggie/lentil lasagne
  • one shepherd's pie and one veggie version
  • one fish pie
  • one chicken curry/one veg curry
  • cornish pasties/cheese and onion pasties

I'd like to include something more fish-based, but can't think of anything that would freeze well - any ideas? Or any ideas generally for this kind of catering that will stop me from being in the kitchen every day?!

(I'll worry about how I'm going to incorporate low carbing at some point later Confused)

Can I ask, what's the general opinion on recipes from The Keto King youtube channel please? Especially the bread/pizza base recipes, & flaxseed wrap. I've not really looked at many of the others yet, as they look a bit too good to be true... I've found some wheat gluten flour which is 7g carbs per 100g, & the YT channel says the bread is about 2g carbs per slice. Is this ok? I've been low carbing a few days but haven't tried these recipes in case it's a bad idea.

@BIWI - how about a veggie sausage & bean casserole for the guest family (basically a vegetarian cassoulet), & your preference of a meat & vegetable casserole. Could serve whatever carbs you like alongside for anyone what wants them. My mum used to make "cheat cassoulet" a lot in winter - tinned tomatoes, baked beans, carrots etc in a big pan, then stick some grilled sausages in for the last half hour - you have to grill or fry them or you get nasty anaemic white skins. Sometimes when we had more money we had pork in it too, I've tried it since with just low carb veg & it's still really tasty, but obviously doesn't thicken up as much as no beans. I personally like it over a big pile of cabbage or kale.

BIWI · 04/10/2022 10:38

Oh yes! Sausage casserole is a really good idea. Thanks.

I've never looked at the Keto King YT channel - but to be honest, if all they're doing is giving you replacements for higher carb ingredients, I'd probably give it a swerve. Remember, if you're doing Bootcamp, the majority of your carbs should be coming from vegetables and salad, with some fruit.

That said, I'll go and have a look at the channel now.

In the office today and did not get up in time to make lunch, I thought, ah there is an M&S foodhall next to the train station.

Why do most of their salads have pasta/orzo/couscous/rice in them?

I really struggled to find anything, ended up with a greek salad and king prawns marinated in chilli and oil, with a pot of greek yoghurt.

does anyone have any recommendations for things from M&S, for the days when my alarm doesn’t go off!

Whicker · 04/10/2022 12:39

M&S is usually quite good, I think, but you’re right that it’s hard to get a solution in a single bowl. I do tend to have to buy 2-3 things.

FinallyHere · 04/10/2022 13:16

Might a Pick your own salad work for the group?

Set out bowls of cabbage, spinach, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, olives, fresh parsley, feta cheese, selection of seafood smoked salmon, tuna, squid rings and a bottle of dressing. Add add sweetcorn, peppers to taste.

There again, I'm on holiday in the sun. Maybe better in summer in UK
