By now I'm sure you've all entered your final weight on the spreadsheet

So sorry for the very, very late posting of this thread!

I'm off on holiday, leaving very early tomorrow morning, so not much time to catch up on everyone's progress. But needless to say, I hope that you have enjoyed this Bootcamp, and that you've made good progress towards whatever goals you have set for yourself.

I will have my laptop with me and, wifi willing, will try and catch up with the thread/everyone while I'm away.

You’re worth it though, @ListenLinda !

ListenLinda · 06/10/2022 20:59

It was rather nice, definately worth it :D

Hello bootcamp people. I’ve done bootcamp a couple of times under a different user name. I’ve been back on it for a month exactly (so just over 4 weeks) and am posting here to record my frustration at the week 3-5 stall. I’ve lost around 10lbs in a month which is great but my weight now hasn’t budged for over a fortnight. I’m doing it properly, drinking all the water, I’ve even eaten less than usual because I’ve got a cold which has removed my appetite, but not even half a pound. Infuriating. I never had the stall this bad the other couple of times that I bootcamped.

venusandmars · 07/10/2022 09:28

@prettybird sorry to hear your news and thanks for setting up the new thread and for leading the next bootcamp. I'm happy to offer whatever support I can.

@Underroad keep going and don't let it demotivate you. I have found that when I'm unwell my body seems to hold on to weight - maybe it thinks it might need it? I hope that as your cold goes, your weight drops too.

I wonder if that’s it then? I came down with Covid in my first low carb week then caught a cold just as my symptoms were becoming more manageable so my body has been been bombarded with viruses all month. Ughhhhhh.

BIWI · 07/10/2022 16:00

@Underroad just because it hasn't happened before doesn't mean it's not what's happening this time around! You know that it works, so KOKO and things will get going again.

pinknsparkly · 07/10/2022 22:29

@prettybird I'm so sorry about your friend and very impressed that you're still intending to run another bootcamp! Please be kind to yourself in the meantime 😘 I've just signed up

I'm at an all day event and the least carby food option was tomato soup (from a tin.) I haven't had tomato soup in years and I wasn't expecting it to be so sweet. It was like drinking sugar. Envy Never again but I hadn't had any breakfast and I needed something to keep me going as I've been working all day.

BIWI · 08/10/2022 16:33

Heinz Tomato soup was always something I had at home when I was poorly, so it has very strong comfort associations for me!

OP posts:
BIWI · 08/10/2022 16:34

... but yes, it's very carby! Heinz Cream of Tomato is 13.6g carbs for half a 400g tin, of which 9.7g are sugar.

StuntNun · 08/10/2022 17:49

Thanks BIWI actually that's not too bad as it was only a paper cup's worth of soup AND I sneaked a couple of packets of butter and stuck them in there to increase the fat content. I didn't have anything else to eat until I got home after 4 p.m. and had a fresh mint and goats cheese omelette which was absolutely lush.

ditavonteesed · 09/10/2022 07:14

Definitely with the comfort associates with Heinz tomato soup. In Sheffield we have Henderson relish (it's a bit like Worcestershire sauce but so much better and please don't tell anyone from Sheffield I used that description or I'll be kicked out) which is amazing and you swirl it through the soup. I wonder if it would be possible to make a cream tomato soup that was anything like or is it the sugar that makes it?
My new journal is definitely focusing me, my weight has been all over the place this week, started at 11 9, went down to 11 6 and back up to 11 9 today. My aim is to be 11 by Christmas.
I've decided I'm going to be brave and ry some classes at the gym, I get so self conscious and anxious about them but I figured I could do body pump and things to mix it up a bit, I'm not bored at all but I really want to make sure I don't get bored.

DearieMeWhatsUp · 09/10/2022 08:15

I'm still lurking. Managed to get down to 11st 12, from 12st6, and defo feel a bit less blubbery. This low carb lark is a lot easier now I'm not veggie! I'm hoping to be 11st by Christmas (I lose slowwwly), unless I'm pregnant by then, in which case who knows, will just try not to pile on as much as I did last time when I fell into cheese crackers and instant noodles cravings.

comfortablyfrumpy · 09/10/2022 10:13

Mmm. I have lost over 2st since Aptil, bit for the last month have firmly plateaued. I have been firmly on the LC wagon but suspect overall calories are too high now.

I do TRE , rarely have breakfast before 11 (I find that amazing, I used to be starving by 7am but I am genuinely not hungry til late morning now)

I am surprised as my exercise level has increased a lot in the last few weeks.

So a new tactic is required. Possibly less cheese!

BIWI · 09/10/2022 10:15

Have you taken your measurements though, @comfortablyfrumpy? If you've been upping your exercise you may find that although you weigh the same, you're more toned and so will have lost inches. (If you haven't measured, then how about the fit of your clothes?)

On the soup front.... I tried to buy some LC soup recently and couldn't find any. I was gobsmacked just how much carbs/sugar is in tinned soups.

Sugar gets put into everything doesn't it .

Doesn't it just, @comfortablyfrumpy

I'm constantly amazed to check the label of something made of meat and be astonished by the carbs which have crept in

ditavonteesed · 09/10/2022 12:22

@comfortablyfrumpy I've been excursions for about 6 months, have barely lost anything in that time but have changed shape massively. I was really worried to start with but I'm happy with it now I'm getting all muscly, just need to find the six pack, I know it's there under a few layers of lard.

Indeed it does @comfortablyfrumpy!

Have a look at the ingredients list of this spice:

Tinned soups are generally carby but you can usually find fresh soups that are low carb. Yorkshire Provender Cauliflower and Kale soup from Sainsburys is only 3g carbs per 100g. Carrot and coriander can often be low as well but the best thing is to check all the labels. When I heat them up I add a wodge of butter to increase the fat content.

venusandmars · 09/10/2022 16:15

@ditavonteesed I make this recipe (from M&S cookbook circa 1980). The egg thickens it nicely and the wine and vinegar add a piquancy. I miss out the sugar, and sometimes add worcestershire sauce.

750g tomatoes
I onion
600ml chicken stock
150ml red wine
tablespoon wine vinegar
15g sugar
200ml double cream
2 egg yolks
freshly ground black pepper

Put chopped tomatoes and onion in a pan with stock, wine, vinegar sugar, s&p. Simmer for about 20 minutes. Blend / liquidise. Sieve to remove skin if you want to.
Bring soup to the boil. Mix cream with egg yolks and add to the soup (stirring constantly). Stir over a gentle heat until soup thickens.

ditavonteesed · 09/10/2022 16:39

Oooo thank you @venusandmars I shall give that a go this week as this chat has got me craving tomato soup

ZiggZagg · 09/10/2022 18:07

I tried a fabulous Asparagus and Chervil soup on my cruise and have been really craving it so tried to recreate it and it's yummy (not the same but as good and low carb)

I'm sorry I can't do measurements as I'm more of a throw in and hope for the best girl Blush

Asparagus (1Packet)
3 echallion shallots
3florets of broccoli and 3 of cauliflower
4 cloves garlic
Olive oil
Butter
Parsley
Veg stick cube and water

I fried the garlic, shallots and asparagus in the olive oil, butter and parsley (I used a LOT of oil and butter) then added the stock cube and water/ other veg and boiled for a bit then swished it up in the blender (or as 4 year old DS calls it- Glenda- I kind of like the thought of Glenda making my soups- the good LOW CARB witch hehe)

Anyway was delicious with a low carb roll again with plenty of butter Smile

ditavonteesed · 09/10/2022 18:11

Loving these, keep them coming I'm ina real soup phase at the moment, I've found soup and a pot of grated cheese hits the spot on a night shift.
