By now I'm sure you've all entered your final weight on the spreadsheet

So sorry for the very, very late posting of this thread!

I'm off on holiday, leaving very early tomorrow morning, so not much time to catch up on everyone's progress. But needless to say, I hope that you have enjoyed this Bootcamp, and that you've made good progress towards whatever goals you have set for yourself.

I will have my laptop with me and, wifi willing, will try and catch up with the thread/everyone while I'm away.

Wonderful photos, @ditavonteesed ! And inspiring too.

I need to join you on your water mission, as I’ve been rubbish at that lately too. I want my skin to go back to that plumptious hydrated look!

Jollyholibobs · 26/09/2022 09:26

Hi all, enjoy Kefalonia @BIWI its lovely. I am back from holiday. Weighed 2lbs up this morning. Planning to keep bootcamping and posting on this thread. Noticed references to Gillian Riley’s online course. I did it a couple of years ago. I might benefit from a revisit it was helpful at the time.

FinallyHere · 26/09/2022 12:09

Hello lovely people. How did it get to noon this morning so quickly. I'm WFH and have 3l water lined up in litre bottles on my desk. Haven't touched a drop.

Interestingly, when my concentration broke and I look around my first thought was hunger. Would be interested to know if anyone tends to feel thirst as hunger, or is less likely to feel hungry when I am on top of my water targets.

Sunsnowsun · 26/09/2022 18:55

@FinallyHere I’ve managed to get to the evening with very little water, so it’s easily done.

A NSV I’ve been clothes shopping and am definitely looking better in clothes than at the start of bootcamp, interesting as scales are staying the same.

Two and a half litres of walk later I'm resigned to several trips to the loo overnight. Got to walk up early tomorrow too. Sigh.

I don't want to make this mistake again. Drinking water seems to me to be one of the easiest things I can do for my health. And as a side effect I'm much less likely to even think about overeating if I've made my water targets.

Jollyholibobs · 27/09/2022 08:38

Good reminder for us all on the water @FinallyHere . Back on the wagon here and back to work today. Feeling very tired from traveling still.

B Black coffee
L salad leaves, avocado, French cheese, tomato, courgette. Greek Yoghurt
D portobello mushrooms as pizza bases, home made coleslaw.

Water and green tea.

Whicker · 27/09/2022 09:11

My overnight wee tally is going through the roof! At least I can kid myself it is just water water water and not the elderly bladder it undoubtedly partly is.

StuntNun · 27/09/2022 09:51

On the water front, I've been following this way of eating since 2013 and my skin is in great condition. I used to have really dry skin but I think nearly a decade of drinking lots of water has made a difference. So think of each glass of water as a gift to you ten years from now.

prettybird · 27/09/2022 10:11

I've put myself on to an egg fast to help me get back into The Zone. Fortunately I like eggs Grin

In a strange way it also helps me to drink all the water Wink

prettybird · 27/09/2022 23:41

Egg fast is going well Smile except dh opened and I shared Blush a bottle of Cava to celebrate finally getting agreement on the distribution of his mother's estate.

It's only been nearly 3 years since she died Hmm

ditavonteesed · 28/09/2022 06:46

Blimey that's 3 years @prettybird ridiculous
My plans for a fabulous week have gone awry as I'm poorly. Haven't even made it to the gym which makes me feel so guilty. I even cancelled my pt session today. May join you on egg fast I'm so bloated.

I'm trying to decide whether to see a dr, I've been low level poorly and exhausted for months now plus my anxiety is through the roof, I'm wondering if it might be the dreaded menopause. Or my thyroid, vit d or iron. I'm back to not having the energy/motivation to do anything and I can't work out if it's physical or mental.
Need to up my water today even if it's in the form of butter mint tea to help with the bloating. I've got dh addicted to it as well so I hope they don't stop stocking it again.

TheFirie · 28/09/2022 11:15

Do book an appointment @ditavonteesed why wait any longer when it has already been weeks. Some blood tests will certainly relieve your anxiety.

I wouldn't do an egg fast if you are bloated. Your gut is already inflamed, eating exclusively protein will make it worse. Try some dandelion root tea to soothe the gut. Your gut microbiome could explain the low energy, low mood especially if you eat a lot of meat, as it tends to promote more harmful bacteria. You have been doing this for a while now, do you substitute the carbs for proteins instead of fat ? If so it can be a bit damaging. Switch back to almonds, avocado, ..fats with some fibre.

So think of each glass of water as a gift to you ten years from now I like that!!!!! @StuntNun

Whicker · 28/09/2022 11:16

Do you mind me asking how old you are, @ditavonteesed ? I keep wondering if I am in the zone for menopause or not. For all the same reasons as you.

ditavonteesed · 28/09/2022 11:50

@Whicker I'm 48.
I did it I actually went to the dr this morning. He was great. Getting all my bloods done to check it's nothing physical although he said it's unlikely but worth checking thyroid etc as levels been stable for ages now.

Dr thinks it's probably more likely anxiety than menopause and wants to try ssri first but out all the menopause bloods on as well. I'm very cautious to try hrt as my mum had a stroke on it and I have dodgy history from pregnancy. Feel a bit better for doing something. Will go again next week when bloods back to discuss what to do now. Fed up of feeling crappy.

I'm having a full day of pjs and tv today and I'll try and get back on stuff tomorrow. Need to learn to relax.

@TheFirie I think your right I do tend to focus more on protein than fats as I think about the muscle building maybe time to go back to basics.

BIWI · 29/09/2022 10:10

Hope that the tests help you @ditavonteesed - but I also agree with @TheFirie that an egg fast isn't a good idea right now. You need to concentrate on good (low carb!) nutrition. So good fats, plenty of them, and good quality protein as well as plenty fresh veg and salad - a little bit of fruit wouldn't go amiss either.

Are you eating anything after your PT sessions? Something protein-based might be helpful.

I'd also consider a high strength vitamin D supplement too.

ditavonteesed · 30/09/2022 05:57

I didn't go with the egg fast, stomach has settled a bit now.

I've not made it to the gym all week due to snotty grotty cold stomach thing. Plan on getting back on it from Saturday. I don't usually eat anything after pt sessions but I could look at having a snack. Feeling much better today, thanks lovely people.

Water!!!!

FinallyHere · 30/09/2022 08:11

Glad to hear you are beginning to feel a bit better @ditavonteesed

Joining you on the water wagon. KOKO

Whicker · 30/09/2022 08:36

Have just been inspired by you to drink a pint of water!

Weighed myself this morning since the end of bootcamp (which was a week early for me because of holiday). I have lost four more pounds! 1 1/2stone to go to the glory zone of being overweight, rather than obese. That could be feasible by Christmas, couldn’t it? Though Christmas social stuff starts to get in the way in December.

ListenLinda · 30/09/2022 11:05

Hi everyone, is it alright to slink in?
at the end of last week, I was looking on the boards desperately hoping a BC was starting soon. (had great success on the early 2021 one, but fell off the wagon spectacularly).
Anyway, I decided to begin LCHF from Wednesday onwards this week when I realised BC was nearly over. Really enjoying it so far, on third day and feeling good, maybe a slight headache.
If this is the between BC thread, I’d love to join you all and keep chatting until the next BC if there is one before Christmas :)
Starting weight of 15st2lbs, 5ft 6 and a blood pressure annual review (that i’ve avoided for 2 years and need to face up to it) next week, means I need to get serious and shift some weight and feel better about myself.

BIWI · 30/09/2022 12:31

You're very welcome @ListenLinda !

ListenLinda · 30/09/2022 12:49

Thank you @BIWI it’s good to be back!

I think I’m experiencing mild carb flu symptoms, feel tired, a little bit cold (despite the house not being cold) and have a slight headache.
I’ve got some tabs that have very similar ingredients to the Hi5 tabs i’ve seen mentioned so may try one and see if that helps.

ditavonteesed · 01/10/2022 13:07

Going to have a trip to either sainbos or marks to get some nice food. Feel like I need treats. Also ordered a new diet and exercise journal to start on Monday.

FinallyHere · 01/10/2022 13:46

Oohh, I do like a fresh journal @ditavonteesed

Belated welcome back @ListenLinda Do you have any favourite meals that work well for you. I had been having a Greek phase to prolong the summer, often lamb chops & Greek feta salad.

I'm on holiday now and finding myself very tempted to order it here, too. The Canary Island made a delicacy of home grown potatoes, served plain boiled with a range of flavoured mayo. Not terribly tempting, frankly.

ListenLinda · 01/10/2022 16:15

Bolognese and veggies for me today, while the others have pasta bake and garlic bread.

what is everyone else having today?

BIWI · 01/10/2022 16:32

I have a chicken curry in the slow cooker - a bit of an experiment as I'm trying to use my slow cooker a bit more:

  • first I pan-fried seasoned, skin-on chicken thighs, in coconut oil, till they were browned
  • in the same pan, gently sautéed onions/shallots, garlic, ginger, green chilli and spices (turmeric, ground cumin, ground coriander, ground cardamom, ground cloves, chilli powder), oregano, and salt and pepper
  • added a generous splash of apple cider vinegar, then some tomato purée and a tin of coconut milk to make the sauce
  • sauce in the slow cooker first, then thighs arranged on top to stop the skins getting too wet
  • will probably put the thighs under a hot grill before serving, to see if I can crisp up the skin

Will serve it with tenderstem broccoli and cabbage braised with lemon and butter.
