Week 6 - May 22 Low Carb Bootcamp - putting this weekend firmly behind us!

BIWI · 06/06/2022 08:35

Morning all.

It seems that this Jubilee weekend has been more than a challenge for many of us. But it's over now! So let's all climb quickly back onto the LC wagon.

As ever, here's the link to the spreadsheet:

docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1dopd9eo5zjJusx8VG1EmuO3YFxPPjEIR2qu-99L_W9g/edit#gid=1892381976

We have three weeks left, so still plenty of time. Certainly to undo the damage of the last few days!

If you have been struggling, or have cheated, why not go back to strict Bootcamp for a week (or two, or three)? Make sure you really are eating plenty of fat, drinking all the water and getting your carbs mainly from veg and salad.

Good luck to us all Flowers

Today i've had

L - Salad with chicken and crispy bacon
D- pork chops with homemade coleslaw and salad.

Water!

Lougle · 07/06/2022 22:20

@bella1426 sorry you're poorly. Feel better soon.

Today:
B -2 egg and double cream frittata of left over leeks/green beans/courgette, fried with mushrooms.
L - salad (baby leaves, tomatoes, olives) with goats cheese.
D - roasted belly pork with roast courgette, tomatoes, mushrooms, pepper.

Fluids: 2 cups of tea. 6 x750ml water and 1 X 250ml water (4.75 litres!)

Lougle · 07/06/2022 22:21

I bought a kilner jar drinks dispenser today and sliced some citrus fruit into it. Just nicely taints the water.

APerfectlyGoodName · 07/06/2022 23:06

I'm climbing back on the wagon here too. 2L of water drank, plus some teas.

We've been away for a couple of days so I had a google of Rendang and found this. It looks pretty easy so it's on my to-do list for tomorrow.
www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/food-and-drink/recipes/lamb-rendang-1.1658974
I'll see if I an rise to a picture! I'm in a bit of a culinary funk so I can't wait to try it.

Today I ate;
B. Fry - eggs, sausage, bacon, tomato, mushroom. Creamy coffee.
L. Chicken caesar - no croutons.
D. Greek yogurt with tsp peanut butter.
S. Herbal T with 85% chocolate.

I've had a good exercise day, which energises me! Including a 5 minute dip in the Atlantic (Chilly!!!)

Water, water, water.

venusandmars · 07/06/2022 23:46

@APerfectlyGoodName Oh I love Rendang. I think I've usualy made it with beef, but I'm going to try lamb this weekend. (plus cauliflower rice).

Don't envy your swim in the Atlantic!

I'm out for lunch tomorrow - business meeting - I choose the restaurant, so there's of good things I can have. And I've got a portion of Shepherd's Pie out of the freezer for dh's dinner, so I can have an omelette.

Food today (did I post this earlier?)
Brunch - streaky bacon, egg, mushroom, half a slice of black pudding
D - avocado, tomato, burrata in a lovely salad dressing.

I'd also bought dh a 'treat' (and a big carb hit since he is tall, active, and skinny): M&S truffled macaroni cheese 'bites' (i.e. small bits, rolled in breadcrumbs). Don't worry fellow bootcampers, if you are salivating and feeling envious, I tried half a bite (3.8g of carbs). Not worth it.

But I am now thinking that truffled cauliflower cheese (bootcamp version) would be something amazing... Hmm, I'm dreaming up the recipe now.

Todays plan

B - boiled eggs with butter, coffee with cream
L- tinned mackerel, cream cheese and celery
D - chicken and spinach creamy curry with cauliflower rice

APerfectlyGoodName · 08/06/2022 12:40

I just had this for breakfast. I'm not hungry first thing, so I've been to the gym.
It's baked scrambled eggs on a bed of spinach, topped with feta. Served with leaves and a few scraggy tomatoes 🍅.

I see the salad is nearly a week out of date. Tasted good anyway!

I love to look at my plate and think 'What diet?'

Sounds like a few of us are 'back in the zone' which is great for the last couple of weeks.

💧 💧 💧 don't forget.😚

FinallyHere · 08/06/2022 13:02

Hello lovely people. Sorry to hear about those not well, hope you feel better soon.

Truffled cauliflower cheese Mmmm @venusandmars

This morning I was glad to notice that the waistband of my formerly very tight jeans was pleasingly loose.

When I stepped on the 'InBody' scale at work I had removed jeans (and shoes and necklace) and scored 500g down over the last fortnight. Scales moving in the right direction but so sloooowly, I'm going to revert to monthly checkpoints, when I might see a kg a month. Sigh.

I'm reminding myself to focus on how much better I feel after eating low carb. Gone is indigestion and feeling lethargic, and needing a snooze after lunch.

Goodness, the scales are strict taskmasters. I didn't catch what must have been my highest weight ever after Christmas this year and started bootcamping before I'd been into work to check on the scales.

Stupidly after Jan bootcamp, I tried a different set of scales in the spa. They are clearly jemmied to make us feel good, as the results on the work scales are still not down to the reading I saw then. The NSV are keeping me going but why do I feel such elation when seeing that lower number on the untrustworthy scales.

Sigh.

ShagMeRiggins · 08/06/2022 13:02

Honestly. I disappear for a few weeks and y’all can’t remember to drink your WATER WATER WATER??!!

Grin
FinallyHere · 08/06/2022 13:06

Glad to see you back @ShagMeRiggins

Llamasally · 08/06/2022 13:15

I want to join, do I just add myself to the spreadsheet? I’ve heard of the LCBC before and had no idea there was a spreadsheet!!

BIWI · 08/06/2022 13:21

Welcome @Llamasally! Just jump in and add your name to the bottom of the spreadsheet. You'll also find Bootcamp rules on one of the tabs there.

Welcome @Llamasally

That spreadsheet has loads of really useful information to support this way of eating. Hope you enjoy it

Baystard · 08/06/2022 15:04

Argh I'm on the wagon but it doesn't feel so effortless this week and I'm not enjoying it as much. Considering revising my goal for this BC to a 9lb loss which means now just sustaining the loss I had in the first few weeks, and save further loss for next time. Possibly learning to maintain a weight is a worthy goal in itself. I think my hormones are going a bit haywire right now, hoping I can ride it out.

B- black coffee
L- 3 egg buttery omelette, salad, vv thin piece of vv thickly buttered seeded home made bread

I'm considering skipping dinner as i don't feel great (a bit queasy) and if i eat it will only be because it feels strange not eating along with the family, rather than feeling hungry.

BIWI · 08/06/2022 16:13

Sorry you're not feeling great @Baystard - either mentally or physically. But if you're feeling queasy, probably best not to eat - just make sure you keep yourself hydrated.

Hi, shuffles in quietly and takes a seat at the back.

So I've been struggling a bit with everything lately. Checked in this morning and I have actually put on half a stone over the last month. I mentioned to personal trainer this morning and he was very kind said well you have been doing a lot of weights and resistance stuff, but admitted that it wouldn't really account for half a stone.
I think I have been having cheer myself up treats, I'm too tired treats, teenagers doing exams is beyond stressful treats, night shifts are hard treats and generally just propping myself up with food.
It stops today!
Breakfast sausages and eggs on low carb toast.
Dinner chicken kebab with tomatoes basil, and mozzarella.
Logging on my fitness pal for accountability 20g carbs for the whole day.

IveNeverTriedThisBefore · 08/06/2022 18:36

Hi @APerfectlyGoodName - that is the recipe I used for my lamb rendang yday. Had leftovers for lunch today, it is tasty. There was no lamb pieces when I did my grocery shopping so I made it with lamb shanks and put it in the slow cooker and it was yum
That author has a low carb cookbook called 'ketogenic kitchen' I bought it at the weekend just for some inspiration. I will report back when I try a few more
Do you live on west coast of Ireland? I am on east coast and started doing a few dips recently too.. but it is cold!

B: met a friend for coffee so didn't do IF today as had milk in it. Are we allowed 'batista style alpro coconut milk' on BC? I googled it and the carbs seemed low but the fat seemed low too so I skipped it. Was just wondering as it would've been a 'treat' - my friend tucked into a huge slice of carrot cake and I was envious as its my favourite 😆
L: leftover rendang with spinach
D: chicken, cashew and broccoli stir-fry wirh more spinach- also from ketogenic kitchen book. It was very quick to make after work and family had it with noodles. Had 3 tbsps of yog afterwards as thought maybe not enough fat today

Bit slow on the water but going to catch up before day is out

Lougle · 08/06/2022 19:03

Sorry that you aren't feeling good @Baystard . Well done for hanging on @ditavonteesed .

I'm scraping the barrel when it comes to food today - need to do a shop.

B - 2 egg omelette with double cream and cheddar
L - baby leaves, cucumber, 2 slices belly pork.
D - broccoli, leek, cauliflower, courgette, all sauteed in butter, with 2 slices belly pork.

2 cups of tea. 5 X 750ml water so far.

venusandmars · 08/06/2022 20:09

Good to see you around @ShagMeRiggins we need you here...

Was out for lunch and had scallops with pork belly and cauliflower, followed by salmon with asparagus and truffle and hollandaise sauce, and a side of garlic butter broccoli.

Came home and dh made chilli and crab omelette (from Jamie's 5 ingredients). Lovey man x

APerfectlyGoodName · 08/06/2022 20:20

Bloody hell - I did the recipe exactly - 2Kg of stewing lamb. But DH said he doesn't really like lamb so I doubled up and did 2kg of beef also. AND ..... My kids don't like it and wont eat it!!! 4 Kg of rendang!! I'll try buying some freezer trays for tomorrow - but there's only so much of it I want. I have limited freezer capacity. Definitely some will get the bin. 🙄🙄

glamourousindierockandroll · 08/06/2022 20:47

Another pound off from my carb gain over the weekend. Phew! All may not be lost...

Good tesco shop ordered for tomorrow (with plenty of Mr Porky scratchings - my favourite!)

L- ham and cheese salad with mayonnaise
T- beef burgers with cheese and caramelised onions and halloumi fries

Off to top up my water levels!

APerfectlyGoodName · 08/06/2022 20:56

@IveNeverTriedThisBefore I have her book 'Domini at Home' from the library. (I have too many cookbooks). It's not especially LC, but I'm browsing.

@ditavonteesed I'm so with you - in the food reward club. I can't restrict myself at all when I'm tired. Hopefully of those 7lbs, 3 might disappear fast. Shedding those 7lbs would be a good goal for this BC

I've missed you @ShagMeRiggins . Great to see you with your water reminders.

I hope PrettyBird is closeby.
