Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

Loving the bathroom talk. Wish we'd been creative and confident enough to use antique/reclaimed items.

I've just had the most delicious omlette -- with bacon, feta, mushrooms,, spring onions, rocket. I'm enjoying food so much more on this low-carb way of eating. Really getting pleaaure from it, without the fear of calories or 'losing control' (or with less of that fear anyway).

I also went for a fabulous run this morning. I felt strong and non-sickly: I'm definitely post-carb-flu now. I was very, very slow, but I'm beginning to be able to contemplate trying to improve my speed, rather than just surviving the run.

MotherBuckets · 09/05/2021 12:48

@venusandmars love those tiles! We have similar in a strip round our end suite but ours are silvery. Has taken 5 years to choose the paint colour to paint the wall above Blush

Finally settled on some lush metallic purple paint which looks amazing, but after a couple of steamy showers was dripping down the wall so will probably just paint it white again and put some pictures up in another 5 years Blush

Didn't mean to post the manky dripping picture twice BlushGrin

FusionChefGeoff · 09/05/2021 12:56

@prettybird dammit just catching up whilst eating my salad - saag paneer omelette is flipping genius idea!!!! Might do that for dinner tomorrow.

@Angliski love that bathroom

@MotherBuckets oh that's shit. What beautiful paint and what a shame!

I've had a thought that I could go Mediterranean with the lamb and go for roasted veg and feta!!!

Can someone talk to me about roasting frozen broccoli?? Is that a thing?? It's so soggy I'm desperate to use up the bag that's lurking at the back of the freezer.

Turns out I'm not feeling that bad after all - my crossroads technique meant I've just done a very unexpected 10 miles!!!!!

Off to have a bath and chill now as everyone else is at a rugby match until 3pm woo hoo

prettybird · 09/05/2021 13:00

Wisnae me @FusionChefGeoff Wink - I've never even had sag paneer Confused

Orcagirl · 09/05/2021 13:00

Haven’t posted in a while... had a horrid chest infection and went off the boil slightly. So I’m going to post daily again for accountability.

Today will be
2 coffees and Greek yogurt
Chicken and cauliflower Alfredo for dinner

Have you looked at omnitubs/ Japanese soaking tubs for the bathroom @prettybird? It won't let me post a pic at the moment, but I was obsessed with the idea briefly before DH reminded me that he's 6ft 4 and I don't take baths

nowlook · 09/05/2021 13:08

Have you namechanged @BIWI? Grin

Jollyholibobs · 09/05/2021 13:10

Well done @FusionChefGeoff. I am feeling a bit of a fraud now. Misread my training plan. It was 10 miles today with a 30 minute faster section. All done and thanks for the encouragement everyone. Also new shoes ok now I have ----trimmed my hooves cut my toenails Hmm.

Must post some bathroom photos but some tidying required first.

FusionChefGeoff · 09/05/2021 13:10

Sorry @prettybird don't know what happened there - you're missing out though

Meant to credit @Hopeislost for the omelette!!

prettybird · 09/05/2021 14:03

In true MN fashion (mostly required for parking/neighbour dispute threads Wink) here is a diagram of my proposed design. It's even to scale! Grin

Want a double-ended bath as dh and I used to occasionally treat ourselves to a both together - although we haven't done that much recently a) since ds arrived although he's mostly away from home now Wink and b) the current bath taps make it not very comfortable Grin We both like to take regular relaxing baths on our own anyway.

It's looking like it would have to be a 1500mm bath (shorter but wider and deeper than we currently have) as that style seems to jump from 1500 to 1700 and even a Google search doesn't turn up any 1600 (best is 1670 - but I think that would be too tight).

Window is not overlooked and we're on the 1st floor so even though dh wants to put in a simple blind for the winter, it would rarely be pulled down.

@devoncreamtea sorry to read that you are not feeling well. Hope it wears off soon.

@nowlook @Rshard loving the idea that this thread can support all of the different situations, including local take away suggestions. 😀

@venusandmars. I've taken a snap of your maintenance tips, thank you very much.

I have a long way to go but honestly find strictly keeping to Bootcamp much easier than trying to manage maintenance.

I do love the look of the contrasting mosaic. I wasn't brave enough for our en-suite then DH fell for some quite dark tiles anyway and that was that. 😀

@Angliski. Great vintage bathroom.

10miles by accident, that's some run @FusionChefGeoff

Welcome back @Orcagirl that Alfredo will be delicious.

@prettybird that diagram looks very promising. I wish I had stuck to a 1500 bath, I've hardly used the new one, I went for 1700 because there was space. My feet don't reach the other end unless i slouch a lot, which is not very relaxing.

Oddbutnotodd · 09/05/2021 14:42

Prettybird. I think you need to balance the space with a 600 mm basin and 1000 x700 shower tray to allow a bit more space around the loo. Some people have larger bottoms. I think otherwise the loo will be a bit too close to the bath. Is the shower going to have a sliding door?

prettybird · 09/05/2021 15:14

@Oddbutnotodd - fair point. I think there will be more room than I show for the loo as we've still to establish the space used by the pipes in the boxed off corner, so how deep the "shelf" needs to be. Plus I've drawn the bath wider than it will actually be.

Shower panels are going to be open "walk in" ones - a 600 one down the side and a 700 one at the end to protect the sink. I've also assured dh that we'll choose a range which would allow retrospectively fitting a 300mm flipper panel if ds and I splash too much Grin

I'll talk to the bathroom designer/fitter and the supplier (both of whom we're seeing again this week) about the size of the shower tray vis-à-vis the rest of the space. It's going to be the thing that we have to nail down the soonest as apparently there is a shortage of resin so they are difficult to get hold of at the moment.

Ifeelmuchlessfat · 09/05/2021 16:06

@nowlook re giving up the fags - I stopped overnight after maybe thirty years of loving it due to a) The Easy way.. by Allen Carr, and b) taking L-glutamine as apparently cigarette papers are steeped in sugar which contributes to the withdrawal symptoms - L-glutamine counteracts this somehow.
I really wanted to give up, which helped, and just needed advice as to how to reduce what I saw as inevitable withdrawals, but actually i found it easy after many failed attempts.
Right time combined with right help.

Alternative layouts which could also work @prettybird

Failed to manage a run or bike but did some yoga this morning and will get a swim in tomorrow before DH goes away again. Just ordered an updated Garmin watch so really need to do some exercise to justify it! Mainly it's to get something more delicate on my puny wrists I'm happy to wear all the time as a smart watch after my old everyday watch broke, instead of my current clunky one I put on for exercise only. Can eBay the old one for a half-decent amount I think. Also dreading one of the guys a work noticing my Rolex and never hearing the end of it

Nice graph after 4 weeks of weigh ins attached.

Thanks @Ifeelmuchlessfat Flowers

It's over a year now since I last had a cigarette, but I am over-reliant on the vape thing. I don't mind the lozenges either- but they make me a bit gassy Grin

I'll have a look at L-glutamine as never heard of it before. I've a long-standing habit of saying I'll give it all up when I get to 8.5 stone (giving myself half a stone margin for error) Hmm

nowlook · 09/05/2021 16:44

Re: Rolexi Grin @Rayna37

If asked, I used to say that I got mine on the beach in Lanzarote and that it was as good as gold provided I didn't get it wet Wink

FusionChefGeoff · 09/05/2021 17:14

@BIWI or any other celeriac mash experts??

Recipe says use hand blender to mash does that mean a hand blitzed with chopper blade??

Or normal masher??

nowlook · 09/05/2021 17:20

I always use the my Annabel Karmel hand blender with choppy blade from back in the day @FusionChefGeoff. I don't think you'd make much headway with the leeks if you used a masher.

prettybird · 09/05/2021 17:21

They're possibilities @nowlook - but might be a bit radical for dh Wink

Can't move the loo too far as there is a cast iron soil pipe which makes it difficult to adjust (our soil pipe rules are different up here, I think: they go down the side of the house and join the sewage system underground). Plumber thinks he can move its location about a foot further into the room, keeping a sufficient slope.

nowlook · 09/05/2021 17:27

Gah! That's exactly the situation I had with our loo. I live in a Georgian farmhouse, so get all the dodgy old plumbing but without the benefit of wonderfully high ceilings and Minton tiles Hmm

New bathrooms are exciting and irritating in equal measure. I asked to turn a spare bedroom into the family bathroom with a copper tub in the middle in front of the fireplace. That got the eyebrow from DH as we live in Derbyshire and not a 1980s Flake advert...
