Morning all!

here's the spreadsheet . If you haven't already seen it, check out the new info for veg/nuts/fruit that @AthelstaneTheUnready has added to it. Updated (and hopefully now the most accurate) data for all three categories, and all grouped into traffic light categories - green to eat freely (when allowed, in the case of nuts and fruit), amber to be more cautious about and red to avoid as much as possible.

If there's a particular ingredient that isn't on there, just let me know and I'll find the data for that and add it.

And now to week 4

A reminder that this week is also one where you're unlikely to see much loss - and possibly may see a gain. Just remember that THIS IS PERFECTLY NORMAL! Don't panic, but just KOKO and things should get moving again from next week.

Off to catch up with the end of last week's thread now. Hope everyone has an enjoyable bank holiday Monday Flowers

Cheers Biwi

devoncreamtea · 03/05/2021 09:17

Ooh, first post!

I’ve lost 2.6 pounds this week, pleased with that! And over 8lbs now since I started (a week or so before bc). I think this might be my best yet - as I tend to be slower to lose. Hope it continues!!

Andi2020 · 03/05/2021 09:17

Thanks @BIWI
Just read end of thread 3
@Linda I see you got a nights sleep
Hope you sorted with ring.

Hope everyone has good luck on scales around a 1lb off again will know when I put on spreadsheet but feel much better more energy.

@ilovecherries can't wait for your inspiration

Timetobuckup · 03/05/2021 09:19

Always nice to see a shiny new thread.

I am going to KOKO with the strict bootcamp (other than a couple of gins) The WOE is really suiting me, I have never not snacked until now.
I always knew that the carb crashes were an issue for me but I honestly thought this would be so much harder . I know it is early days and there are bound to be tricky days ahead but for now I am just so chuffed I am 3 weeks in and over 11 pounds have buggered off Grin

Good luck to all weighing today!

BIWI · 03/05/2021 09:21

Well I clearly haven't had enough coffee yet, because I just posted on last week's thread! Blush

C+P:

Oh @AthelstaneTheUnready you do have a lot going on right now, don't you? Sad. Really well done for staying off the booze and fags. Star

Sorry, too, @colouringindoors and @ListenLinda that you're having difficult times Flowers

@ilovecherries - welcome back! Very sorry that you, too, have had such a hard time. Hopefully this WOE will help your recovery. Flowers

@Chattycatty welcome! Yes, I use the SLC bread and bread rolls, and I think they're fantastic. The only problem with them is the price. As far as I can see, it doesn't impact on my weight, so definitely give them a go. It's so great to be able to just knock up a quick sandwich at lunchtime after years of either going without or cheating!

@Bestbees

MIM - bootcamp. Which will probably kill me!

Then do you need The Big Stick?! Wink

Great progress @MrsBertBibby! Star

Right that's me caught up for the moment. We're off out for lunch today, at a nearby pub that has a covered, heated area in their garden - which means we can also see DS2, which will be lovely.

Then from tomorrow I have to deal with MIM, as I have been a bit remiss with my running. I was due to go out for my last C25K run on Saturday but didn't feel too great, and then yesterday I just couldn't be bothered Blush. But I will do it tomorrow when I will have no more excuses.

11lbs! Really well done timetobuckup Smile

ilovecherries · 03/05/2021 09:29

Thank you everyone for your kind welcome back last night. I’m so emotionally overwrought just now I felt quite tearful. Anyway, as I said, no weighing for me as my expectation is that I will actually gain a bit of weight and I know that’s not necessarily helpful for other people to see at this stage. Having said that, my intention is to be very strict for a few weeks to try and get myself feeling physically better ASAP. So for breakfast I’ve had chaffles with crispy garlic fried mushroom and wilted spinach. The kitchen is now closed till lunchtime apart from access to the water chiller. Good luck to everyone weighing today, and hope you have the results you want to see.

ElasticFirecracker · 03/05/2021 09:33

I posted on week 3 thread so just copying this over.

Well as I may have predicted the spreadsheet show -2lbs. Which is a gain of 2lbs. It's not what I would like to have seen, but I am not at all surprised.

I've put on a lot of weight since Christmas, and I think my eating must have got way out of control. Because normally if I was putting on weight, I would just rein myself in a bit and it would go, but I've really not been able to manage that recently. Every time I stepped on the scales I seemed to put on another kg.

I will just keep on keeping on. To a certain extent even keeping my weight static is an achievement.

Tickledtrout · 03/05/2021 09:34

@ilovecherries so sorry to hear things have been tough for you. I have some ( many actually) very beautiful Toast size 12 items I am determined to get back into. Hope this bootcamp brings you what you need tooFlowers

venusandmars · 03/05/2021 09:36

No access to scales, so just place marking so I can keep up with everyone's news. @ilovecherries your plan to eat what does you good sounds excellent, hope it feels like a small way of taking control in a world that feels chaotic and uncontrollable.

Lovely cheese omelette for breakfast and no idea what the rest of the day holds, except rain and wild winds!

ouchmyfeet · 03/05/2021 09:40

3lbs off which I'm pleased with but didn't quite make it below the magic 20. I'm exactly 280.0lbs this morning so couldn't be closer. Definitely going to make it next week Wink

Well done to the losers and KOKO. I love how open everyone on this thread is about their struggles in a way that doesn't de-rail it from the focus. I suppose it's what sustainable weightloss looks like, learning to manage it alongside all the other shit we all have going on.

Happy bank hols, hope most of you have better weather than it looks like we'll be getting in Manchester. I'm feeling like crap after my first covid jab on Saturday so having a quiet one

Chattycatty · 03/05/2021 09:42

Thanks for the welcome. Today is my first weigh in and I've lost 8lbs so I'm delighted with that. Happy week 4 to you all.

prettybird · 03/05/2021 09:58

Couple of pictures that I took quickly last night of my "new" trousers, to place mark.

I know they're at least 16 years old as my mum altered the crotch slightly (it was at the time that low rise jeans were being introduced and neither she nor I liked them) , so it was before her accident but I have a suspicion that they're closer to 26 years old, as I think I had them when we went to South Africa for my granny's 85th birthday but I might be confusing them with another pair Wink.

They've been hidden on the trouser rails in my DJ's wardrobe Shock.

Another couple of pounds to lose before I wear them outside as there's a hint of camel toe Blush

Will weigh in formally tomorrow as having a relaxed start to the day and have already had multiple cups of tea no milk Wink.

Nateismine · 03/05/2021 10:01

I've been rigidly sticking to strict boot camp so am disappointed with a 1lb loss.
I'm really enjoying this WOE and feel that it's sustainable long term. In a couple more weeks I'm going to order some of the low carb bread and hopefully that's a game changer. I'm also looking forward to experiment with some baking and low carb treats.

Can someone reassure me that all this water drinking is the right thing? I'm forcing myself to drink 3l every day. I hate every sip still as I never feel thirsty. And I find it quite stressful needing the toilet all the time. I went 12 times yesterday and we were out and about, so lots of squatting in the countryside. I'm always thinking about where the next toilet will be. I had hoped that seeing would settle down, but it hasn't. Should I drink less?

Figrus2 · 03/05/2021 10:12

Three pound gone soni am delighted. I am trying not to be greedy about eating cheese as it stalled me in another bootcamp. I'm still finding it hard to get the water down

VeryLittleOwl · 03/05/2021 10:14

Flowers Flowers Flowers for @AthelstaneTheUnready, @colouringindoors and @ListenLinda and everything crossed for your mum, Athelstane. A friend of mine was recently finally persuaded to go and see the doctor about how tired she was feeling and how she had no appetite. They found an absolutely huge lump in her abdomen so she made a will, got a power of attorney in place, basically prepared not to be around for much longer as the consultants were extremely concerned. They operated, took out a 12 KILOGRAM mass, she was in hospital for about a week while they ran tests on it - completely benign. No further treatment needed and she's back at work three months after her first appointment. So even when it looks terrible, life can still surprise you and I hope it's the case for your mum.

2lbs off here, though I'm taking yesterday's weight after having to scramble into my clothes rather quickly this morning when DH came running in to say the ewe he'd thought was going to lamb fairly soonish when he checked on them at 5.30am had decided to jump out of our field, go across a neighbour's field and jump out of their field into our big field where all the ewes who've already lambed are. (These are properly fenced with sheep netting and single strand wire over the top!). DH tracked her down at 7.30am after searching our home fields thoroughly for her first and came to get me as he thought she was in labour. She started pushing not long after I got there and had it in 20 minutes flat. I mean, kudos to her in that I don't have to move them down the road in a couple of days' time, but she's missed out on a bit of pampering and extra grub in the top field for a couple of days!

BestIsWest · 03/05/2021 10:18

Not weighing either as I know of old that I get dispirited if the cakes don’t move or go the wrong way plus my scales don’t work.
However I can see that weight has been lost from my shoulders and bust.

Just looked at the new carb counts on the spreadsheet and gutted to see blueberries are now in the red zone. Were they always? I’m sure they weren’t last time I did this.

ElasticFirecracker · 03/05/2021 10:20

@BIWI I have made some notes below on how I am doing in relation to the 10 rules, and I think I need help with quantities of fat and what the dairy limits are. I also am not sure about some processed foods.

Thanks in advance.

Lockdown Rules

I've been though all the rules carefully and written myself a crib sheet.

Some rules are easier to follow than others.

Drinking the water, no sugar, no fruit, no seeds or nuts. These are all fine and I am observing these rules.

Where I am having problems:

dairy This is probably my worst area. I eat tons of dairy - yoghurt and cheese, and would be drinking milk if I could. I had an idea that because cheese is fat I should eat as much as I wanted.

3 meals, not snacking I am snacking more than I think I should.
Just need to improve this. Snacking encourages emotional eating for me, so it's important.

Fat I have no idea whether I'm eating enough fat. It's very likely that I'm not eating enough.

Vegetables I should definitely be eating more and this is just down to disorganisation and bad planning.

Alcohol - I don't think it's a problem, but I did drink alcohol last week when I didn't plan to. So I should be careful here.

Processed Food I like to think I don't eat processed food, but I do. I have been having bacon, ham and smoked salmon.

I'm confused about things like: artichoke hearts in a jar, tinned fish. Do I just need to check they don't have added sugar?

Bestbees · 03/05/2021 10:20

Just making sure I am on the thread. Hiding in bed eating peanut butter from the jar. Blush

ListenLinda · 03/05/2021 10:25

Checking in for this thread. Off to ring the insurance people, wish me luck Sad

Timetobuckup · 03/05/2021 10:41

Good luck @ListenLinda , how is your finger today ?

colouringindoors · 03/05/2021 10:42

1 pound down, on large due to car crash of a weekend. Trauma sucks.

Onwards.

Good luck with week 4 everyone.

Random789 · 03/05/2021 10:45

Good luck re insurance ,ListenLinda!

Well, blimmin scales stayed exactly the same for me AngryAngry.

The onnly positives I can find is that this might partly be due to:

--constipation, despite drinking 2l daily.

--Muscle gain??? I've been going a lot to the gym and running, and I think I'm correcting some of the general withering of strength that may have occurred during lockdown. Or am I kidding myself?

I measured myself in a few places. Thighs and chest and upper arm have lost a bit, but measuring seems very hard to do with precision (esp using tape measure from a christmas cracker) so I'm not confident these losses are real.

Only upside is that I do feel quite strong anf fit compared with a week or two ago.

What should I dooo? Just KOKO as before or try to reduce my portion size?

prettybird · 03/05/2021 10:46

Catching up on the last thread:

@ListenLinda - sorry about your woes and injuries. I had that happen to my engagement ring once (but without the injury to my finger): got it caught somehow on a trolley at Lidl heaven knows how and it pinged off in the checkout area. Fortunately, everyone helped look for it and we found it glinting over by the packing area.

@AthelstaneTheUnready : sorry to hear about your mum and that AthelCat is still unwell If you're ever back in the office in Glasgow, we could now meet up for a coffee and chat, if you'd like

@ilovecherries : lovely to "see" you again (and ditto: if you're ever up in Glasgow, would love to meet for a coffee and chat Smile). I was just thinking of you the other day and was going to name check you as an inspiration for those that were dispirited at an extended stall. You kept on KOKO for months and were eventually rewarded Grin
