This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Doilooklikeatourist - sounds very, very similar! Sympathies, it's no fun is it? We got a heating guy who's done a fair bit of work for me in the past round just before lockdown started last year to see what our options were regarding proper heating. He could put an air-to-air system in for about £5k, but then we'd have those big air-conditioning-style units on the walls and we don't exactly have large rooms to start with. A wet system with radiators off an air source heat pump is going to be around £12k and massive upheaval and we'd probably need to sort out extra insulation because if the rest of the house is anything like the bathroom, there isn't any - it's plasterboard and bare stone walls with nothing in between. We're now thinking that if it's going to be that much trouble we might as well go the whole hog, so once he's allowed in the house I'm getting my friendly builder in to quote for insulating all the external walls, fitting underfloor heating downstairs, radiators upstairs, fully rewiring the house and knocking down our tiny lean-to kitchen extension and replacing it with a much larger full-height extension so we get an extra bedroom as well. But no way can we afford to do it this year, so I'm resigned to at least one more winter without proper heating!

AthelstaneTheUnready - I have the same problem with the nearest supermarket being 25 miles away. There are only about 28 houses in our village, the only village shop between us and the supermarket is 7 miles away and does a great line in unhealthy things, but not very BC-friendly, although they do stock massive neeps and there's occasionally a whole duck in the freezer.

Lunch today is celeriac chips with cheese, supper I think is steak and FLGV.

BIWI · 31/01/2021 10:47

My Sainsbury's shop is coming today, but they've already told me they don't have any celeriac Sad.

Last week we had the world's smallest cauliflower, so I'm awaiting with 'interest' dread to see what gets delivered today.

The more fat you eat, the more fat-burning enzymes you produce to deal with the greater intake. So when you've digested your meal they go looking for more fat to deal with - ie your stored body fat.

One of the reasons not to snack - give them time to go looking for that body fat.

Yes, and when you’ve been low carbing for a while you learn to really appreciate those fat burning hours when you can almost feel your body doing its thing and the fat melting away...👍👍

We went on an impromptu two and a half hours plus walk yesterday across fields and hills and so on. I don’t eat breakfast so I hadn’t had anything to eat, but I felt full of energy and wasn’t hungry at all even though we didn’t get back home til three. And I loved the feeling of my body processing its way through some of my belly and thighs. 😉

Morning all and @BrassicaBabe I am so pleased for you.

The scales are finally moving downwards again, this is the end of my 4th week, I am just keeping my fingers crossed that they don’t go up again before tomorrow’s weigh in, but if they do so be it, I usually see it the following week.

@AthelstaneTheUnready So pleased you have sorted your new tank and hope that some green veg arrives sometime soon, thank goodness for your stash in the freezer.

For the person asking about Lactose free Greek yogurt , I am lactose intolerant (not allergic), I have to be really careful with milk, but am fine with total Greek yogurt and very small amounts of double cream ( a teaspoon is okay), it depends how it affects you. I believe that the process of how yogurt is made affects the lactose. I suspect whether you want to trial it depends on how severely you are affected, which of course only you know.

Today
B Greek yogurt
Lunch soup
D roast chicken

Only 20 posts left on this thread! (19 after this one)

I'll start tomorrow's chat thread today.

I think this is the first time the second week's thread has gone over 1000!

@VeryLittleOwl we’re renting a house with an air source pump and it is really impressive. Our bills have also dropped (although we had oil-fired heating before so the comparison isn’t straightforward).

Glad the food budget remains buoyant, @AthelstaneTheUnready!

We live on an island so very used to shortages. Although I try to mostly buy seasonal veg and that’s produced locally so we have plenty of that in the farm shops. Aubergines are tiny because it’s winter but our cauliflowers are lovely and big right now. I do struggle a bit with meat as no one is that fussed about high welfare so the only place I can buy free range chicken is M&S or Waitrose, if it’s stock, and there is a similar obsession with trimming fat off everything.

I have STS again. And instead of getting my period, I ovulated yesterday. So a full week of no weight loss and no idea when my period will arrive. Peri-menopause sucks.

Interesting to be reminded of the fat consumption. I don’t think I’m eating enough. I need to consider how to do it without just eating cheese.

Lunch today: wood-fired rotisserie pork from the farm, cauliflower cheese, creamed leeks, roast celeriac

I’ve also had a creamy coffee.

No idea about dinner. Possibly just a large lump of butter wrapped in green leaves! Grin

Interesting to be reminded of the fat consumption. I don’t think I’m eating enough. I need to consider how to do it without just eating cheese.

Too much cheese is likely to impede your weight loss, so it’s not the best source of fat, especially if you eat it daily. I usually have it every few days just to be on the safe side.

Do you like avocados? That’s a very good source of healthy fats.

Nuts and seeds too, once we go onto bootcamp light (but keep it under control, so for example some seeds or a small amount of nuts scattered over your salad every few days).

Plenty of dressings on salads & veg - butter, olive oil, sesame oil in Asian sauces, nut oils etc.

Plenty of fatty meat - chicken with skin on, lamb, pork belly, minced beef or pork, etc. Bacon in moderation. Never trim the fat off your meat.

Mayonnaise, if you like it. Best if you make it yourself of course.

Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 11:19

Oh forgot cream! But that can be problematic too...

Butter whizzed into your coffee. It makes it lovely and creamy!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 31/01/2021 11:30

Can’t be doing with butter in coffee sadly. I wish!

I have avocado, although I do feel guilty eating it because of the environmental impact. But I plough on and have two a week or so.

Cheese is not every day either, I don’t think, unless it’s creeping up. Probably had naked cheese three times this week, and then in some of the food.

And I’ve eaten a lot of mayo but am buying a heinously expensive brand with no sugar or anything else but what I’d use at home, so at least that’s sorted! I love fatty meat so never trim it, but we need to be eating fattier meat in general I reckon.

Will ponder.

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:32

Why not try making your own mayo @Dailyhandtowelwash? If you have a stick blender it's actually really easy.

OP posts:
Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 11:32

Have you tried it? I was dubious but it’s really nice.

I used to add a bit of cocoa powder as well.

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:33

Stick blender mayo recipe here

Tip: don't use extra virgin olive oil as the taste is too strong and it will make the mayonnaise too bitter

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:34

... but not to the mayo, @Ninkanink Wink Grin

Hopeislost · 31/01/2021 11:35

Well I live in Central London and I'm still struggling to get hold of fresh veg! No celeriac or aubergines in today's delivery and a tiny cauliflower! Thank goodness for frozen veg!

Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 11:36

Also if you’re doing all that it does sound as if your fat intake is alright...

Maybe use twice as much fat in your dressings this week just to see if it makes a difference.

Is it lack of weight loss or hunger that makes you think you’re not having enough?

Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 11:37

Yes @BIWI! Smile

wanderlove · 31/01/2021 11:40

Still stuck on the 4lb gain. But keeping on keeping on. It means I've lost 2lbs week so be which is still good.

I've just had breakfast: omelette with salami, salad with avocado and olive oil dressing and bulletproof coffee and 1 pint of water with lemon. Really focussing on upping the fats, drinking water and staying off the dairy. I'm think the cause of the weight gain was too many creamy coffees!

I'm loving hearing everyone's meals. I think I'm may extend boot camp for a bit to make up for the heavy dairy days that I think stalled me.

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:40

As this thread is almost full here's the week 3 chat thread

I meant yes you’re right, not yes do it! (Could get confusing.......) Grin

Dailyhandtowelwash · 31/01/2021 11:42

@Ninkanink yes, I’ve tried butter in coffee and just couldn’t get onboard with it. I think I’m probably lacking it because I’ve had days this week when I’ve not eaten much at all, and others which probably weren’t massively fatty.

@BIWI I can make Mayo but it takes me forever. I just don’t have time to keep up with my consumption! Time is money in this scenario. I’ll look at your recipe though.

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:44

@Dailyhandtowelwash that recipe will take you about 5 minutes to make!

OP posts:
Dailyhandtowelwash · 31/01/2021 11:46

@BIWI I’ll give a go. I am really fussy about mayonnaise so I look forward to seeing if it meets my standards. Wink

Ninkanink · 31/01/2021 11:49

@Dailyhandtowelwash try it once with the cocoa powder as well? Thinking about it, I’d forgotten that I don’t like it on its own but in a mocha I find it quite delicious...
