This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

The scales haven't budged for me this week, but my tummy is feeling much more wobbly. I'm sure I've read about this on previous boot camps, so hoping it is a sign of an incoming whoosh!

Dailyhandtowelwash · 30/01/2021 14:04

@BrassicaBabe

"Your weight loss will hopefully be helped by the meds as they speed up the metabolism, but you’ll know that!" Stunt I hadn't picked that one up yet. Rats, now I feel like I'm cheating Sad
If it helps (and it was me wot said it and I’m only pointing that out because it’s relevant) I’m also on a stimulant med with the same side effects and have grandly stayed the same. If taking the meds was all it took, the world would be full of very slender ADHD people, and it’s really not.

Just enjoy it if it gives you a kick start right now after all the stress!

WellityWellityWellity · 30/01/2021 14:15

Thanks for the official welcome @biwi Grin.

I'll add myself to spreadsheet, along with my weight Blush. In my defence, I am tall!

cheeseisthebest · 30/01/2021 14:25

Brassicababe that's really great you got a diagnosis. Flowers

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 30/01/2021 14:28

Had a sneaky peek at the scales... they’re not moved far. So I’m concentrating on water intake today (it’s hard work which makes me realise I’d slacked off!) and going easy on the dairy... tried an espresso with salt. It tasted...salty. Think I’d rather have one per day with a splash of cream than 2-3 without!

@BrassicaBabe that’s a huge step for you, well done! I hope things continue to be so positive for you!

@crackofdoom

I've got a couple of problematic meals coming up over the next few days. Firstly, this evening I have a gentleman friend coming over (we're bubbling), and will be making sag paneer, something with aubergines, lentil daal, and some rice for him. Hopefully the lentils won't be too bad, if I have a spoonful. (also lashings of vodka and diet tonic, in a fond farewell to dry January grin)

Well firstly, seeing as you're cooking, YOU ARE IN CONTROL. This is important. I know you're a vegetarian, but lentils still aren't allowed on Bootcamp, so the first thing I'd do is to cut the dahl out.

And re the vodka, just remember that all the time you're drinking alcohol, this is what your body will use for fuel, rather than burning fat. PLUS you're drinking the artificial sweeteners - allowed in moderation on Bootcamp Lite, but just go easy.

Secondly- and this is worse- it's DS1's 11th birthday on Wednesday. Now, I always make elaborately decorated birthday cakes for the DC's birthdays- slathered in buttercream, topped in sweets, etc. This year I'm pondering a Minecraft cake. So far I have managed to stand firm against sampling bits when baking with the DC, but in this situation there is NO WAY I'm going to avoid licking my fingers a bit, and not joining him in a slice, when the only birthday celebration the poor kid's going to get this year is a meal with me and his brother, is going to be downright impossible

Is it really impossible to celebrate his birthday without eating cake? That sounds like a big fat excuse to me! (Pun intended). He and his brother can certainly eat it, but why would you do that to yourself? You're just sabotaging your best efforts, and you're only into your third week. Again, YOU ARE IN CONTROL.

Plus, I'm planning on asking him what he wants for his birthday meal, and he's going to want me to share it. He might opt for a takeaway- if I could steer him towards Indian it would be easier, but he might choose the local Chinese, and I strongly suspect that all their veggie dishes have got a lot of sugar in their sauces

And again - this sounds like you're planning to fail. Whichever he chooses, make sure you are buying from somewhere that has their menu online, so you can choose your food in advance. If you need to, link it here and we can all help you make a good, low carb choice.

^How can I undo the damage in all this? Egg fast for a couple of days afterwards??

By not doing it in the first place!!! Seriously. All you will do is undo everything you've achieved in the last two weeks. All that hard work for nothing!

@crackofdoom I have successfully baked without licking spoons - I either eat beforehand, have something like salami or cheese on hand for a snack or brush my teeth right before I start.

It’s possible, I promise.

Oneborneverydecade · 30/01/2021 17:17

@Lyrata you broke the thread ha I'm a spoon licker

In other news after this weeks bra chat I picked up 3 bras in M&S - a 32F, a 34C and a 36B. I think the 34C is the best fit. I was wearing a 38A but along with every other bra I own it was feeling a bit loose.

L: mushroom soup, extra cheese, 2sl low carb bread
D: braised sprouts and a chicken breast in sauce
S: cooked chicken dipped in mayo

Great news @BrassicaBabe

Welcome @WellityWellityWellity

Oneborneverydecade · 30/01/2021 17:21

Had a reminder of why lockdown isn't all bad earlier: bumped into my Dad & Step Mum. She says to him are you going to say anything to Oneborn about her weight loss. He replies "tbh I was distracted by all of her grey hair". Love you too Dad, you twat

StuntNun · 30/01/2021 17:32

Did you try the Boob or Bust Bra Size Calculator OneBorn? It can be quite the eye opener if you were wearing the wrong size. I originally went from a 34D to a 30F and suddenly everything fit and looked much better.

MrsMcBoatface · 30/01/2021 17:35

Brassicababe and dailyhandtowel , thanks so much for the information re ADHD. I'm having a lightbulb moment...

Lyrata-- just HOW can you bake without spoon licking? I thought that was the whole point of home baking! I admire your steely resolve.

It's a slow cooked pork kind of day here! Going to have it with a side of buttered kale. Still loving this WOE after almost two weeks!

ouchmyfeet · 30/01/2021 17:40

I have done some baking and spoon licking today Blush. The baking was unavoidable as it was kids homework but I should have avoided the spoon licking... haven't touched the finished product though.

I know that it can be done as I managed it last week. Must have breakfast next time

ListenLinda · 30/01/2021 17:58

Checking in after an unusually busy saturday.
Had to have cheese for breakfast, as no eggs or greek yogurt until tomorrow when sainsburys delivery arrives.
Lunch was sausage and a fried egg - delicious. Kept me full until now.
Just sat down with some basa fillets roasted in olive oil and a bit of spices on top, with a pile of spring greens smothered in butter.
Surprisingly only had two coffees today too! Usually had about 7 at this point in the day 😂

WellityWellityWellity · 30/01/2021 17:58

Thanks @Oneborneverydecade.

I have never made a cake without trying it, but maybe I will have a revelation and realise I do not need sugar / carbs!

ZiggZagg · 30/01/2021 18:13

Wow, looks like we're going to need a 4th thread! You guys are very chatty this time around!!Grin

MrsOmelette · 30/01/2021 18:46

Chocolate Torte is good for low carb decadent bakes. I make a low-carb carrot cake that my husband prefers to “normal” cake - ground almonds are great in baking anyway.
Good day here, L - feta, gherkins, roasted cauliflower, D - beef & vegetable curry. Lots of herbal tea and flavoured water. Tomorrow I’m shopping thank goodness as I only have corned beef and cabbage in now! (Been trying to go as long as possible between shops, our tiny Tesco is impossible to socially distance properly in.)

AthelstaneTheUnready · 30/01/2021 19:11

So pleased to hear you have results @BrassicaBabe! It can be so hard getting round to getting help, so it's fabulous that it's paid off. Flowers

Welcome @WellityWellityWellity!

Am most definitely less than I was - by about 2lbs I think, but that may vanish by Monday on the scales. But my fat jeans slip down a bit now, and I'm generally flatter in the front between neck and hips - should have taken measurements.

WellityWellityWellity · 30/01/2021 19:27

Thank you @AthelstaneTheUnready!

Great to hear you have lost some inches as well as lbs. I don't have a tape measure Blush, other than the sort you measure furniture with! So, I won't have measurements either. Fingers crossed I will notice in my clothes though 🤞

Lyrata · 30/01/2021 19:33

Hahaha I very much don’t have superhuman willpower. I just make sure my mouth tastes like toothpaste or salami or cheese, do it all as quickly as possible and think very hard that I KNOW what it’s going to taste like so I don’t need to taste it.

Food for today:
Breakfast - creamy coffee
Lunch: bit of chicken (lot of chicken skin)
Dinner: a bit of chicken soup. Not that hungry.

prettybird · 30/01/2021 19:36

@WellityWellityWellity

Thank you *@AthelstaneTheUnready*!

First time I took measurements, I did it with string and then measured with string with a steel tape measure, as that was all I had Shock

I've since bought a proper tape measure Wink

ouchmyfeet · 30/01/2021 19:40

Food post

L: omelette with salad
D: sausages with celeriac mash, leeks and mushrooms

Celeriac mash was gorgeous, never had it before but I thought it was nicer than potato Smile

prettybird · 30/01/2021 19:40

This was my supper tonight: Turkey parmigiana (using my special Parmesan, ground almonds and flaxseed coating I'm in Week 3 ) with green beans in butter & chopped garlic and celeriac chips Smile

I used a quartet of a large celeriac - should have used the other half (half was used last Sunday for the creamed celeriac that went with the scallops) as dh liked them so much we could have eaten more and would've enjoyed them cold

2nd week of Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp! But our third thread!
StuntNun · 30/01/2021 19:56

Epic food day today.
B: nothing as I fast 16:8.
L: egg bites, tin of sardines, kimchi, kefir and a little hard cheese.
D: fries. Rainbow trout with sugar snaps, tender stem broccoli and asparagus with butter drizzled over.
Special treat as it's family movie night will be "Currywurst" which is Bratwurst in curry sauce - a German delicacy.

I love this WoE.

cheeseisthebest · 30/01/2021 19:59

Can someone critique my food today please -

Breakfast 2 mashed up boiled eggs with mayo, butter and ham.
Lunch salad of spinach, cherry tomatoes, olives, feta and chicken with some olive oil drizzled on top.
Snack of smoked salmon and cream cheese, just a small amount.
Dinner pad thai with tofu and barenaked noodles which are carb free. Lors of veg with it.
3 cups of tea plus 3 pints of water, some with lemon squeezed in.

Not having anything else other than water. Am very full.
