This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

Today was a breakfast of two fried eggs and some quorn bacon (veggie so eat some low carb quorn), and veggie meatballs in a sauce of tomato and mascarpone with peppers, courgette and mushroom, and a side of cauli cheese. Feel very full!

I need to think of something to use up the mascarpone! I started 1st Jan so can have nuts etc. Any inspiration welcome, sweet or savoury!

VeryLittleOwl · 30/01/2021 20:49

Blimey, I step away from the thread for a couple of days and get back to find prettybird is busting out the eveningwear - you look fabulous!

nowlook - woodchip is a bastard, but if it's not too heavily painted over, try the wallpaper paste trick. You might need to score it first, but you may get away without. Mix up a slightly sloppy batch of wallpaper paste, slather it thickly over the woodchip, leave it for about half an hour to soak in and it then should dissolve the old paste on the other side and it peels off much more easily. Kind of like putting on more nail varnish to get the old stuff off.

I don't know what happened to me on Thursday, but I could not. stop. eating. And not BC-friendly stuff either :( I'm not going to type out the full list, as BIWI would probably need several Big Sticks, but I was so wired on sugar that I didn't get to sleep until about 3am. Back to normal eating yesterday and today with no problems. Not PMT. I'm wondering if it's something to do with being cold. We don't have central heating in this house, we have a stupid Highlands-only system called Total Heating, Total Control, which is night storage heaters on a separate electrical circuit controlled by the power company(!), so although we can choose whether the system is turned on or off at the wall, the actual times it comes on are set by Scottish Hydro Electric depending on the weather forecast. It's backed up by a ropey old panel heater in our bedroom, but DH's alarm clock/weather station has recorded as low as 10.3C in our bedroom overnight. It's making it very difficult for me to get through all my water, as I don't want to drink chilled tap water out of the fridge, room temperature tap water has a vile taste to it, and I can't get through 3 litres of hot water with lemon in a day. Hoping it'll start warming up a bit soon.

cheeseisthebest · 30/01/2021 20:58

Verylittleowl we have storage heaters, hate them!

StuntNun · 30/01/2021 21:08

AWryGiraffe you can mix mascarpone with cocoa powder and a little cream to make a low carb chocolate mousse.

OakSnows · 30/01/2021 21:38

Hi, I’ve just found this thread. I’ve been recommended to do a keto diet for medical reasons, so looking for any help/guidance etc. Think I’m going to spend about a week reading and learning and shopping and start a week Monday.
What apps/websites etc do people use? Happy to pay for some of them if they are genuinely helpful, think I’d rather real food than shakes etc.

LostaraYil · 30/01/2021 21:54

Really happy for you Brassica!
I definitely have the munchies today and have had too many creamy coffees trying to control it. Other than that food has been
L- Chinese crispy duck with lettuce, cucumber and mayo
D- Turkey, sprouts and swede
I'm pretty sure the cream will impede weight loss for me but at least I stayed away from the chocolate cake DS made.

prettybird · 30/01/2021 22:27

@OakSnows - no need to pay for anything Shock. Just read The Rules that are in the Opening Post of the Week 1 thread and are also in the one of the tabs of the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness that is linked to in the OP of each week's thread (caveat: there was a problem with the spreadsheet this week or last, so @AthelstaneTheUnready had to create a new one)

There are lots of resources in it so take your time to explore. There will be a new link to it tomorrow or the day after for the Week 3 thread.

Don't leave it a few weeks. Jump in now Smile The only thing you need to do differently to the rest of us is stay on the strict 1st 2 weeks regime, while some of us progress to the slightly more relaxed Boot Camp Light I actually started Boot Camp just over a week early so that I could enjoy Burns Night Smile

StuntNun · 30/01/2021 22:28

Welcome OakSnows have you been told to do a keto diet or simply to reduce your carbohydrate intake? Bootcamp is a low carb way of eating but is not keto which requires very strict limitation of protein intake and a high fat intake as well as a low carbohydrate intake. All the information you need is in the spreadsheet and there are plenty of helpful people posting on the ongoing threads.

venusandmars · 30/01/2021 22:56

@Lyrata

Food for today: Breakfast - creamy coffee; Lunch: bit of chicken (lot of chicken skin); Dinner: a bit of chicken soup. Not that hungry.

Did you have any vegetables????

venusandmars · 30/01/2021 23:01

Tonight I had confit duck legs using this very simple recipe Once the duck legs were removed there was sticky, fatty, winey, ducky liquor left. I used it to braise 1/8th chunks of cabbage (OMG - delicious).

Dinner was the duck legs, the braised cabbage, plus leeks and cavolo nero.

However there is still ducky liquor left over. It's in the fridge and tomorrow I'll add cream and blitz it and pour it over veg.... Yum!

Motivateinmotion · 30/01/2021 23:05

@WellityWellityWellity welcome! I second the using some string/a belt/dressing gown cord to do your measurements then check against your tape measure. It helps when the scales aren’t moving but you know theres been a change in your body

Welcome @OakSnows too!

Meals today:
L: 3 chicken thighs, lots of lettuce, cubes of cheddar and some Boursin all dressed in garlic oil
S: pork scratchings (had never actually tried them until this WOE and know they’re highly processed and need to be cut out before they become the new addiction)
D: chicken fajitas with peppers, mushrooms in butter, homemade guacamole, cheese, sour cream all wrapped up in lettuce leaves

1 oxo, 4 coffee with almond milk and 4L water

lurknolinger · 30/01/2021 23:53

cheeseisthebest please can you share your Phad Thai recipe, I love it but have never found a good sauce that hasn't got a lot of palm sugar in it, do you omit it or use something else? Thanks.

MarmaladeTeepee · 31/01/2021 06:06

Welcome @WellityWellityWellity!

@BrassicaBabe I'm so pleased for you! I'm a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in a mainstream primary school and I work with children with a range of learning difficulties: ADHD, ASD, DCD, dyslexia etc and just having that knowledge that there's nothing wrong with you, your brain just works differently makes such a difference to a person's self esteem. It really is transformative and so wonderful to see. Helping them to develop processes that work for them, along with the right medication where necessary, is my absolute favourite part of the job. There can still be a lot of stigma around these conditions but they are absolutely learning difficulties not disabilities and have no correlation to a person's intelligence or capability. I hope your diagnosis continues to open a multitude of doors for you (further education, change or career, promotion etc) as well as relieving lots of stress (and weight!).

Lyrata · 31/01/2021 06:33

@venusandmars ducky liquor sounds like something I would happily drink out of a glass.

Errrr I did have one cherry tomato. Other than that, no. I normally eat heaps - it was a lack of planning yesterday.

Bestbees · 31/01/2021 07:18

@BrassicaBabe I went on a course about ADHD last year and they presented some really interesting research about the evolutionary purpose and necessity of ADHD. I found it fascinating, and really helped my mindset in thinking how to support the young people in my school.

www.healthline.com/health/adhd/evolution#ADHD-and-hunter-gatherers

Ended up being a very nibbly day yesterday. Not hungry just wanted to eat. I am craving crispy apples. Bit bored of fatty things! Any ideas of things to eat to help? Thinking iceberg lettuce, celery, cucumber. I wonder if I need to add in a bit more of a range of veg, more red and orange stuff to get a bigger range of vitamins?
Plan for today
B not sure, maybe those cream cheese pancakes or an egg mayo lettuce wrap
L broc and Stilton soup
D roast chicken with swede and leek mash and veg.

Reflecting on whether to say no cheese during the week as I am finding it way to easy to eat too much!

ChristMyArse · 31/01/2021 08:24

Morning!

Once again I'm gonna have to go back and read posts.. be on the 4th thread today I recon!

Yesterday was
B - slices of cheese
L - fry up with mushrooms
D - salmon with courgette and spinach

4ltr water

ListenLinda · 31/01/2021 09:03

My sainsburys order isn’t being delivered until 17.51-18.51 Sad
No cheese, no yogurt, no eggs.
I luckily got some chicken thighs out to defrost for lunch and have a whole chicken to cook for tea, with roasts for DH & the kids and plenty of veg.
Surprisingly not hungry yet, but wonder if I will make it lunch haha

venusandmars · 31/01/2021 09:16

Going for a long frosty walk - nice to see some bright skies

B - coffee with cream
L - left over veg in the creamy, duck cooking liquor
D - butter chicken with spinach and cauliflower rice

LittleMissPlump · 31/01/2021 09:19

Please can I jump onboard? I realise I’m a little late to the party but I really need to make some changes to my eating habits and the thought of not feeling hungry between meals is very appealing! I’m sorry if these questions have been asked before but what are people eating for breakfast? And is there a lactose free version of the full fat Greek yogurt available does anyone know? Third and final question but what dressings are people using for their salads? Thanks so much in advance of your help... I’m really excited that this way of eating might bring me some calmness to my anxiety and to my relationship with food.

prettybird · 31/01/2021 09:26

Welcome Thanks

Don't know about lactose free yoghurt but for breakfast we can have eggs, leftovers from last night especially veg Wink, cheese and/or meat (think continental breakfasts with their spreads of ham and cheese).

I'm a seasoned low carber now though, so I tend not to have breakfast as I follow the 16:8 fasting routine.

Doilooklikeatourist · 31/01/2021 09:26

@VeryLittleOwl we must live in the Welsh equivalent of your house ( complete with DH bedside weather station
The coldest our bedroom got to was 8.7 °c . I actually cried I was so cold under my 2 duvets , wearing a nightie and a cardigan
We had electric radiators installed a couple of winters ago , they are so good ( though it’s still only 14.1°c this morning inside and 1.7° c outside )
Stress central here !

Which idiot though it would be a good idea to buy and sell a house in lockdown ... me
Anyway , see what the scales say in the morning , have kept with the tons of veg , lovely buttery eggs for breakfast or lunch and lots of water so hoping for progress in the right direction

BIWI · 31/01/2021 09:31

@cheeseisthebest

Breakfast 2 mashed up boiled eggs with mayo, butter and ham
Sounds good!

Lunch salad of spinach, cherry tomatoes, olives, feta and chicken with some olive oil drizzled on top
Why only a drizzle? You need plenty of fat.

Snack of smoked salmon and cream cheese, just a small amount
Why snacking? You shouldn't really be hungry between means now - if you are, would confirm you're not eating enough fat with your meals

Dinner pad thai with tofu and barenaked noodles which are carb free. Lots of veg with it
How much fat though? This sounds very low fat to me, which isn't what Bootcamp is about!

3 cups of tea plus 3 pints of water, some with lemon squeezed in
This is not enough water! You should be drinking at least 2.5 litres, which is almost 4.5 pints.

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 31/01/2021 09:33

@Bestbees celery with cream cheese is a nice crunchy snack. I also make sure to have plenty of crunch in salads, add chopped celery to tuna mayo, etc.

@LittleMissPlump welcome aboard! For breakfast I mainly have some combination of eggs, spinach, mushrooms, bacon, smoked salmon (all cooked with butter). Greek yoghurt is nice too. For salads, home made vinaigrette is generally best (I put olive oil and vinegar, maybe some mustard, in a little Tupperware and shake it violently then pour over!). I’ve also bought Cardini’s Caesar dressing as it’s the lowest carb dressing I’ve seen and is nice for a change up! Sometimes I have a crumbly cheese like feta instead of dressing.

BIWI · 31/01/2021 09:40

@AWryGiraffe I know you're a vegetarian, but try to keep the Quorn to a minimum - it's so heavily processed

Thanks BIWI, I did have another pint of water so 4 pints. So almost there!

Hmm yes good point not much fat in phad thai but it was delicious and very filling!
