Low-carb bootcamp

Week 3 - Jan '21 Low Carb Bootcamp - time for Light?

BIWI · 31/01/2021 11:40

Well thanks to all the chat, I've had to start this week's thread earlier than usual Grin

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for you to declare all

You now have a choice: you can move on to Bootcamp Light, which means you can re-introduce nuts and seeds, some fruit and alcohol - all in moderation.

However, also bear in mind that weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for little or not weight loss and this is nothing to do with moving on to Bootcamp Light. It's just something that seems to happen.

So it's up to you. You can stay on Bootcamp if you wish, or move on to Bootcamp Light, or a hybrid - so you do Bootcamp during the week but relax into Bootcamp Light at the weekend.

Whatever you decide - good luck! Here's to a good week ahead.

Thanks for the new thread @BIWI and ideas of how to go to the next stage. I like the sound of mixing it up a bit so light at the weekend. Canny wait for some low carb toast with almond butter though!

Hi thank you for the new thread!
Definitely think my issue has been too much cheese so going to think about alternative fat sources this week.
Just had brunch for bacon, poached egg and tomatoes and mushrooms cooked in butter. Delicious and very filling.
Had 2 pints of water so far.

@cheeseisthebest but you owe it to your name!

@ninkanink I will try it for you. I find normal mocha way too sweet but appreciate that cocoa powder is very different!

@Dailyhandtowelwash Grin I do sound slightly overinvested don’t I!

Yes I don’t sweeten it (or only a tiny bit if I really fancy it on the odd occasion).

Thanks for the new thread BIWI
I just put in the pound I shifted last week. I was working and got behind on the thread.Smile

Strangely I woke up this morning feeling sad about my weight and body. It was such an odd an unexpected feeling.

I'm nearing my goal and realising that when I get there a whole shift will come along with it. I've never imagined that I'd actually be able to really live a life as a slim person. I'd like to do that and this LCHF way of eating is so enjoyable to me that I can see it is possible for me.

I think my sadness comes with realising that my identity is going to change. It's almost as if I'm going to miss the person I was. I've spent so much of my life faffing around with weight and size issues- and then, in a few weeks, if all goes to plan, I won't be. Sort of as though I'll be turning the last page of a book I've been reading- it'll be finished.

I realise that there'll be a new book to read after. It'll be about maintenance. And that I have never done or learned about.

Living around the weight I want to stay at, will be a totally new way of life for me. I'm actually feeling quite nervous about it.Shock

Loving this Boot Camp Smile - you lot are such a chatty lot! Grin

I'm out tonight at my dad's - so as I'm finishing Week 3, I may have to have a small amount of dessert (two weeks ago I refused the Christmas pudding he served up) but he's now used to me swerving the potatoes or rice.

Tomorrow night I'm making cheeseburger pie. That will do dh and me a couple of nights, with the rest going into the freezer pre-portioned.

I must remember that I have done smoked salmon in the fridge.

@WitchWand I use Mary Berry’s Velvet Chocolate Torte recipe (on bbc) and use 95% chocolate and swap out the caster sugar for sukrin gold or another low-carb sweetener that works for baking.

@WitchWand I feel the same way! I am going to start focusing on building muscle and toning up. I don’t know how to maintain really - I have spent much of my life yo-yoing.

Weighed in this morning at 9 stone 6 - another pound down and six left to go. This is week 20 for me and I’m 24lbs down. Proud of losing slowly and steadily instead of my normal crash diets!

I have just caught up with the week 2 thread so replying here.

@Brassica I hope the new diagnosis does wonders for whatever you want to do going forward! 😊

@newbies hello 👋

The toddler and I are still Covid ridden and the fatigue and the body aches are debilitating. Thankfully the toddler just has a cough and is carrying on as normal. Which also means I can’t really sleep till I feel better.

Regarding Bootcamp, DH and I are still sticking with it other than my two bowls of dal last week. However my appetite is very low, which means I am not eating enough. I have no idea how this is going to affect my weight. Is my body going to think I am starving? @BIWI should I start Bootcamp light or continue another week of strict Bootcamp to get back on track?

The positive thing about the loss of appetite is it also doesn’t make me want to have carbs or sugar!

By now most of the toddlers and their parents have Covid at the nursery including 4-5 members of staff. It’s our punishment for working full time and sending our children to nursery because we could. The alternative was we would either lose our jobs or get very poor appraisals this year, but we wouldn’t have Covid. It’s a damned if you do and damned if you don’t situation. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sorry, rant over. We haven’t met any family or friends in a year. All we did was nursery and back.

Well, my shopping trip wasn’t fun - no cauli, no Greek yoghurt or plain soya yoghurt, limit on the amount of eggs I could buy, no reduced meats at all...going to be a bit of a dull week! Having said that, I am going to try fathead pizza for the first time tonight so fingers crossed that works.
Today’s food: L - chicken tikka in the car before the long drive home from the shop, D - garlic mushroom & green pepper pizza. Tomorrow’s food: L - poached egg, bacon, mushrooms & tomato, D - sardines salad & homemade coleslaw.

I’m going to stay on Full Bootcamp for now other than a glass of wine on Friday night. I’m not fussed about fruit or nuts, although if you all start doing delicious things with almond flour I may change my mind. Grin

Just checking in. Also aiming to stay on full bootcamp during the week, with a possible G&T on a Friday or Saturday evening. Have bought some skinny tonic so excited to try that next weekend

I’m debating whether to stay strict or go light.
Not much would probably change for me now, i’ve got used to not having fruit with my yoghurt for breakfast.
There are some being delivered with the sainsburys delivery tomorrow so I guess I will decide in the morning, depending on what the scales say tomorrow.

@ZiggZagg i had Boursin and celery for the first time this week, it’s lovely isn’t it!

I'm going to try and stay on bootcamp cos I've not been 100% on it which is why I've gained! Might have berries but that's it. I can't stop with nuts, I just shovel them in mindlessly.

I'm also sticking with boot camp. I'm not fussed about nuts or fruit (says a lot I guess) the only thing different for me would be the wine, but as already discussed I'm probably better off without as just one glass is a complete impossibility to me.

OH, on the other hand is continuing with his beer and sometimes I want to kill him 😁 (in his defence he makes all my meals, does the washing and spends a lot of time with the DC so I try not to grumble too much)

I always read posts that I want to respond to, but by the time I get to the end I've forgotten whose said what! I'm on my phone which doesn't help!

@BIWI I am now out of week 4 (day 31) I've lost 1.5lb over week 3/4.. should weight loss moving forward be 1 to 2 lb a week on average now? I know everyone is different, I would just like to see the scales start moving.. and as you know, I'm partial to a wobble. In good news though I've stuck to this from day 1 which is a first!

Crikey- took me ages to catch up! Down to the bare bones of the veg (metaphor really crap). Hence lunch. And yes, I ate it slobbed on the filthy dog sofa.

I can't help but notice that no-one jumped at the opportunity to see me live-stream the opening of my low carb starter box next Thursday. Noted. That's all I'm saying AngryGrin

@ChristMyArse I reckon anything from 1-3lbs a week is what you could plan on - just remember that weight loss isn't linear, and so sometimes you may lose more, sometimes you may lose nothing!
