This Bootcamp has gone crazy! I'm very hopeful that means that the results on the scales/with the tape measure etc will have been positive.

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

I love this week. For so many, it's a total vindication as well as complete reassurance that this WOE really works!

I hope, very much, that the scales are kind to you and look forward to hearing everyone's progress.

@DulcetMoans there is indeed a converter on the spreadsheet! That does a straight conversion, not a %age, so will give you a true answer.

BIWI · 25/01/2021 10:30

@Pandoraslastchance

I'll be honest I'm struggling to remember meals. I know ivd not eaten breakfast a few times. Ill try to write the meals down this week.
Hmm. This does suggest to me that you haven't been following the rules! What are you planning for today? What are you planning for the rest of the week?

Morning all,

-2lbs this week which I’m pleased with (was -3 the last 3 days) so think I really overdid it with the cream yesterday (cream with breakfast, coconut milk and cream with dinner, possibly a swig or 3 in between). Then had the munchies at 10pm. Managed to eat some cheese and egg Mayo so not off BC though.

Well done everyone for KOKO and the continued support and enthusiasm, it’s certainly helped me and I’m sure others too!

dancemonkey21 · 25/01/2021 10:32

Just saw a version of the viral 'Wrap Trick' with nori. Thought that would be genius with smoked salmon/avocado/cream cheese with siracha on.

Lyrata · 25/01/2021 10:33

@BrassicaBabe a few ideas from me:

  1. It might be a combination of confirmation bias and the slow losses being discussed at more length. I lost my Christmas weight in two weeks and as a result only had two weeks to discuss it whereas if it had taken a month I would have been posting about it for twice as long.
  1. I have read some science that says our bodies respond to weight loss by decreasing our metabolism and being inclined to replace lost fat when possible. The tactics for avoiding this are apparently gradual loss, to let your body adjust to a new set point, and low carb eating as insulin is the main hormone that regulates fat storage. So I would imagine from that perspective, suddenly adopting a very high carb Christmas diet when your metabolism may already be a bit lower than normal would be a bit of a recipe for disaster.

I’m not sure the second point is supported everywhere - and I never think ‘starvation mode’ is a helpful idea as it tends to imply that reducing calories too much will prevent weight loss whereas from what I’ve seen, the metabolic slowing is really only 100-200 calories which isn’t the end of the world - and we stand a good chance of avoiding it with this WOE.

Just some ideas, it’s an interesting question and interested to see other responses!

Hopeislost · 25/01/2021 10:35

Well done on some incredible losses!

0.5lb off for me, which takes me back to what I weighed when I finished the last BC. I haven't been 100% this past week so that is my aim for this week. That and actually writing stuff down as my memory is shocking!

ShagMeRiggins · 25/01/2021 10:35

potas I found your post about not doing well on Bootcamp preciously but now getting it this time really helpful.

It’s a simple statement but really hit home.

Slightly better put than me!

LittleMy77 · 25/01/2021 10:37

I’ve lost 6.5 lbs since starting and frankly I’m amazed! I know most of it is water weight etc but there’s a definite deflating of middle aged pads of fat on the top of my stomach. This diet is basically made for ppl like me I think - peri menopausal mid 40s packing the weight on like a barrel and need an intervention to shift it

I’ve had a couple of wobbles (hello mini bag of haribos Blush when I was raging on Saturday) but I chalked it up and moved on, whereas before I’d have used it as a reason to totally fall off the wagon

I’m finding it interesting to see where my cravings are. I must say these two weeks are killing me at breakfast as I’m done with eggs and smoked salmon! Looking forward to a bit more variety post week two and I’ve stocked up on almond flour already for imitation scone / bread

I’m also not particularly hungry at breakfast. Lunch is really hard tho and I’m still having post lunch crashes which I need to figure out how I eat better. My body is also rebelling a bit against the fat; feeling quite nauseous on and off - I used to have dairy allergies as a kid which
Have now gone, but I generally eat a low dairy diet as result (except for cheddar...) so cream etc is not sitting brilliantly

My biggest withdrawal this week has been booze, the shame! It’s mental at work atm, plus looming shit of home schooling til the end of time has made me want a drink more than once. I didn’t, but bloody hell, it’s been HARD. that in itself is quite an eye opener Shock

Oh yes that’s a great idea! I’m going to build that into my menu for sure!
tanoshii · 25/01/2021 10:46

@dancemonkey1 - planning on making Temaki for my kids and myself for lunch later. Is this what you mean by the wrap method using nori? I put tuna, avocado strips, lengths of baked egg, cucumber, fired shitake mushrooms in for myself, and with the addition of a small quantity of brown rice with raw peppers for my kids. It makes a change from sandwiches and they love "assembling" the wraps.

BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2021 10:55

Ooh, my Seriously Low Carb bread has arrived. Hideously expensive for just one loaf. But if it's good I'll order a bit more of a bulk next time. What to have first?! Grin

Ninkanink · 25/01/2021 10:58

I really miss bread for boiled eggs and soldiers! Or a piece of toast with marmite...I haven’t tried the bread yet but might give it a go in a week or two.

ChristMyArse · 25/01/2021 11:06

@poorbuthappy @DulcetMoans

I struggled with this massively as I used to weigh in stones and we are taught that there is 14 pounds in a stone.

If you use an online calculator it shows as

1 stone = 14lb
1.1 stone = 15.4
1.2 stone = 16.8
1.3 stone = 18.2 where as I would have seen that weighing in stone as 17.

I made the leap by just converting my original weight / 14 as my pound starting weight and then started weighing myself in lbs on week 2. Looking at it now it's calculating my starting weight as 3.2 lb heavier than my calculation so hopefully I've lost more than I though haha.

This link explain better then I could!

Eggy18 · 25/01/2021 11:09

How often do you weigh yourselves? Every day? Once a week?

Ninkanink · 25/01/2021 11:10

I weigh myself once a week, generally.

poorbuthappy · 25/01/2021 11:13

I weigh on Mondays and Fridays.
Friday weigh in does 1 of 2 things.
Either motivates to carry on if it's going well, or motivates me to get back on track if it's not.

NoraEphronsNeck · 25/01/2021 11:16

Morning all, 4lb loss for me this week, which takes me to 13.7, if I can get to 13.2 in the next few weeks then that is a 3 stone loss for me since starting bootcamp last May, which I'm pretty happy with.

Drinking ALL the water, getting plenty of fat, veg tailed off a bit as need to do a shop.

Unfortunately, need to lose another 3 stone to get into healthy BMI, but baby steps and all that.... Blush

DulcetMoans · 25/01/2021 11:17

Thanks @poorbuthappy @AthelstaneTheUnready and @ChristMyArse for trying to explain the weight thing. I didn't even think about but actually I remember getting the weight of the baby and we thought it was 8lb 7oz but it was 8lb 11oz. So I have previous!

@BrassicaBabe - bacon sarnie, for sure!

@LittleMy77 well done on the loss! My trigger has been the same with the 'loom' of another week of home school plus everything else. It's not drink I want but the trigger to just raid the snack cupboard is the same.

BrassicaBabe · 25/01/2021 11:18

@DulcetMoans Yes!! Of course. Will stuck in a fried egg!

DulcetMoans · 25/01/2021 11:21

@Eggy18 I am often drawn in every day but I only pay attention to the number once a week. Used to be Fridays but with this bootcamp I now do Mondays - so that is where I decide if it is a loss or not, regardless of what it said the other days.

cheeseisthebest · 25/01/2021 11:21

I'm 10st 6. I'm 5ft 1. Need to lose a stone to become a healthy BMI.
hmm not sure why I'm on there twice!!

DulcetMoans · 25/01/2021 11:21

@BrassicaBabe Yes! With real butter too. Yum! If only there was a low carb brown sauce...

prettybird · 25/01/2021 11:22

I'm not going to weigh in until tomorrow (this is now Week 3 for me) as we had our Burns Supper last night (we alternate Sunday meals with my dad our extended household and it was our turn yesterday, so it made sense to bring it forward a day) so not only did I have haggis but not tatties but I also had wine Shock

The starter I made was lovely: a stack of creamed celeriac, Stornaway black pudding, scallops and crispy streaky bacon.
