This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

OMG @Turnedouttoes that looks terrible! Definitely, definitely up your carbs to see if that makes a difference. I'd suggest a slice of toast or even a sandwich, just to see what happens - but you'll need to make sure your carbs are higher on daily basis as well till it relents (if it is keto rash).

Can you list out for me what you've been eating and drinking, so we can see how many carbs (roughly) you've been getting each day? That way we're better placed to make suggestions for you.

Hi, I’d like to join in, but not in the spreadsheet as not weighing myself. I’ve put on a tonne of weight since starting sertraline for depression a year ago, completely and utterly sugar addicted which is what I hope LC will tackle. Gave up alcohol when depression started. Can highly recommend eteaket teas for those looking for lovely drinks. They do a big range of loose teas, are an Edinburgh based company with links to mental health charities. At the moment my favourites are Bollywood dreams chai and winter baked apple and almond. I wanted to ask if unsweetened soya milk is ok to have in tea during bootcamp, looks low carb from label?

Turnedouttoes · 16/01/2021 12:17

Thank you @AthelstaneTheUnready and @BIWI it’s very odd because I’ve low carbed lots (most recently last summer) with no problems but I am very all or nothing so quite strict on carbs. I’ll definitely be upping them and keeping track as I’m keen to make it work for me.

Breakfast is always 3 cupcake size egg muffins. So three eggs, a couple of slices of chorizo and spinach.
Lunch is usually tuna Mayo with roasted aubergine, peppers and courgette or leftovers from dinner the night before.
Dinners this week have been chicken salad, lamb shoulder with halloumi & green veg, lamb curry with spinach and beef koftas with cauliflower rice and green veg.
I’m also dairy free hence the lack of creamy sauces and cheese.

Turnedouttoes · 16/01/2021 12:18

Sorry also drinks wise I only drink water (lots of it) and peppermint tea which is usually 2 cups a day

BIWI · 16/01/2021 12:24

@Turnedouttoes

There's a really useful piece about keto rash here

I also noticed that one of the possible allergens that could cause this is eggs - so I'd try changing your breakfast, especially given that you're having that every day. Fish can also be a trigger, so can you try something meat-based for your lunch instead of tuna mayo?

The difficulty, of course, is working out which is the one thing that might be causing it (plus of course being sure it's a keto rash and not shingles!)

cheeseisthebest · 16/01/2021 12:28

Re the tapas some fried halloumi would be nice, grilled courgette and peppers?

Welcome!

Yes, soy milk is OK - if you can stand the taste of it ... Grin

@PastramiNoRye

We're thinking of making low carb tapas tonight...garlic butter prawns, fried chorizo, olives, meatballs and salad. Any other good ideas for wee dishes?
Garlic mushrooms Celeriac bravas (just adapt potato bravas recipe) Low carb sausages, fried and then cut into chunks Devilled eggs (essentially hard-boiled eggs; mash the yolks up with mayo and cayenne/curry powder etc)

Can I just check which veg are allowed in the first two weeks? Is it just the green ones in the spreadsheet?

What’s the thinking on onion? DH is pretty up for doing this with me but is our chef most days and is horrified at the possibility of no onion given that it’s red. How do we approach onion?!

BIWI · 16/01/2021 12:42

Replace onions with shallots - echalion or banana shallots though, not the little, round fiddly things!

With all veg, focus on the green ones in the spreadsheet as much as you can, but don't rule out the others. As long as you're mainly green, some red veg won't be a problem.

I don't always use shallots, simply because they're more expensive than onions, more faff (even the big ones, given that you'd have to use 2-3, roughly, to replace a large onion.

BTW - this applies throughout Bootcamp, not just in the first two weeks (although you may want to be a bit stricter in the first two weeks, but that's up to you)

OP posts:
Dailyhandtowelwash · 16/01/2021 12:44

Thanks, @BIWI. That’s useful to know. I’ve also just refused to buy red peppers for a recipe so now we have lots of green ones. Clearly I can be less strict and will allow a red pepper to creep in! We’d stocked up on leeks too for an oniony taste.

Elpheba · 16/01/2021 12:50

Can someone add me to the spreadsheet please? I first tried this a year ago, lost 2 stone and then. Pandemic. Well that’s my excuse anyway.
So I weighed myself on Monday and I am 7lb up on the exact same time last year (doh) but feeling positive. Have already noticed a huge decrease in my appetite which is a lot of why I think this woe works for me. I’m not eating until 12 each day which I find miraculous compared to what I would typically eat before 12! Really struggling with the water though- I know I need to work harder at that... excited to weigh in on Monday and see first week of progress.

venusandmars · 16/01/2021 12:51

Re tapas: cucumber slices spread with pate; celery sticks filled with cream cheese or blue cheese; spinach cooked in butter with cheese (will link to recipe in next post).

B - boiled egg
L - turkey curry vegetable soup
D - dirty skinny venison burgers (venison burger topped with cheese and crisp bacon, served with salad leaves, avocado salsa and coleslaw)

Jollyholibobs · 16/01/2021 12:54

@Discoballs thanks for that I will up my fat today and see how that helps.

@Turnedouttoes poor you.

@PastramiNoRye wee wedges of Spanish omelette- no potato but maybe celeriac and spinach in it instead?

m0therofdragons · 16/01/2021 12:59

Shingles has been linked to covid (mind you so had everything, but there’s been an increase in cases this year -dm has had it which is why I spotted the news story).

venusandmars · 16/01/2021 13:03

Cheesy creamed spinach recipe

PastramiNoRye · 16/01/2021 13:05

Fantastic ideas - thanks so much! It might be tapas every weekend to try all these!

Definitely going to do the creamed spinach and garlic mushrooms as we could have the leftovers with roast beef tomorrow.

Lots of nice ideas that would work well for lunches. Feeing inspired!!

cheeseisthebest · 16/01/2021 13:11

Where does it say no onion? Have I missed something?

Dailyhandtowelwash · 16/01/2021 13:12

Onion is red on the vegetable list!

cheeseisthebest · 16/01/2021 13:15

The what?!! I've only looked at the rules on page 1 of what's not allowed!

cheeseisthebest · 16/01/2021 13:15

Page 1 of this thread I mean.

BrassicaBabe · 16/01/2021 13:22

@StuntNun can you talk me in off the ledge?

I've been slowly increasing my running distance. 16k was horribly hard work. I barely kept my legs moving. I ran that on long term LC diet. 17km ran during the Xmas period was a lot more comfortable. But I'm scared it was fuelled by mince pies and sausage rolls!!

Back LC since 1st jan. Since then I've done 8 runs at a mixture of 5 and 10km. They've been slow and hard work!!

I've got 18km scheduled for tomorrow and I'm pretty nervous!!

Thanks for reading this far! Any advice to help or calm my nerves?!

BIWI · 16/01/2021 13:23

@cheeseisthebest on the spreadsheet there's a vegetable counter which is colour-coded.

Even some things in the red zone can be used, with caution - e.g. onion, carrots and peppers - it's just colour-coded to give you a quick, visual sense of where you should be focusing your efforts

Well firstly, you know you can do it! It might be hard work, or you might be slow, but what an achievement.

If you're concerned you're not properly into fat-burning, then take some carbs with you, and have a more carby breakfast before you go. Remember, we're not into proper/full-on Bootcamp, so you need to/can be kinder to yourself.

(I keep telling you to be kinder to yourself!)
