This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

2 peppermint teas, a ginger beer and a can of cloudy lemonade down for me Smile

ouchmyfeet · 16/01/2021 06:48

I had the gin motherofdragons, we are easing in after all. The hard work starts on minds

BrassicaBabe · 16/01/2021 08:17

Doh. Cloudy lemonade post meant for Dry January thread 🤦🏻‍♀️ (It's sugar free)

poorbuthappy · 16/01/2021 08:24

So got my dates totally wrong. Thought for some reason that next week was easing in week. Ah well.
Lost 11lb last bootcamp.
Really want to get down to 10 stone this time!
Put on a few pounds over Christmas which have already come off by doing BC lite. Will use next week to come back off the booze and kick start the losing again.
Nice to see some new peeps on here and I did smile at the mention of @BIWI big stick on the first page!!

Smile
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/01/2021 08:26

I really fancy porridge for breakfast. What's the closest low-carb alternative, any ideas?

Jollyholibobs · 16/01/2021 08:39

Struggling to get back into LCHF WOE properly since my post Christmas deviations. It’s the snacking. Mostly yoghurt, cheese, nuts and peanut butter. All goes well until about 5.00 and then not sure if it’s cravings boredom or habit. It’s not hunger.

Today’s plan involves laying off the nuts and yoghurt. Keeping veg high.
B Blavk coffee ( I have been 16:8 since August)
L green veg soup. Manchego salad with olive oil dressing
S None!!!!!!
D pan fried sea bass with lime, ginger and soy with sesame stir fried veg.
And water which I have on my desk all day in the week but I often fail on at weekends.

StuntNun · 16/01/2021 08:57

Greebo there are loads of recipes for keto porridge. They all involved nuts and/or seeds though, so not allowed on Bootcamp.

Dulcet you don't need to track carbs, just follow the rules on the spreadsheet. I peel celeriac using a sharp knife, chop roughly, boil, and mash with lots of butter and salt.

Venus you can make your own M&S meat crisps by microwaving a few slices of chorizo, pepperoni, or salami on a piece of kitchen roll for about a minute. They're amazing warm, even better topped with a small piece of Brie and put back in the microwave for another 10 seconds. Or you can cool them and keep them in the fridge but they end up chewy rather than crispy - still nice though!

Howdidthathappen the Bare Naked Noodles are fine. I can't eat them as they give me an awful stomach ache and bloating because of the fibre. Definitely worth a try.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/01/2021 09:15

Those recipes all look a bit complicated - it's the obscure ingredients you're required to have that bugs me, who has flax meal to hand?! I'll just have eggs.

Bare Naked noodles give me a terrible stomachache too.

ZiggZagg · 16/01/2021 10:23

@BIWI big stick should rule number 1 Grin

Lunch today will be cheese omelette with a side salad
Dinner will be bacon and veg soup with low carb roll, maybe some ff Greek yoghurt for afterwards.

It's DH's birthday today so will resist the urge to order a takeaway Grin

DataColour · 16/01/2021 10:28

Hi everyone 👋 I've kind of started today. Need to catch up. This is my first time low carbing. I need to lose about 10lbs that I've put on over the last few months. Been snacking a lot in the evenings and I'm a bit sick of the constant eating. Hopefully this woe will curb my appetite and stop me snacking on junk. I run a few times a week so I justify my eating as I've "earned" it, but clearly not as I've put on weight!

So today to start off I've had 2 boiled eggs with butter, garlic butter mushrooms with parsley and a coffee with cream. No idea what's for lunch or dinner, need to start planning!

Turnedouttoes · 16/01/2021 10:37

Thank you all for the advice yesterday. I did a lot of reading last night and have come to the conclusion that what I really believed was shingles was actually keto rash and now I’ve got it again.

I’ve done low carb lots of times with no problems so I had no idea it could have been the cause of making me so ill last year. We were actually on a weekend away last time and had to come home early as it was so painful I couldn’t do anything except sleep with lots of painkillers!

I really do want to continue as I have an underactive thyroid and low carb is the only way I’ve ever been able to lose weight. Everything I’ve read says that you can help the rash to go more quickly by getting out of ketosis by eating a small amount of carbs so I’m thinking I’ll up my carbs slightly over the weekend and hope it doesn’t get as bad as last time and I can continue.

Would a small bowl of porridge be okay do you think or is that way too many carbs?

DataColour · 16/01/2021 10:47

Just had a look at the Greek yogurt (Lancashire farm ) and cream cheese (Philadelphia full fat) I've got in the fridge. They've got about 6.5g of carbs per 100g, this is too much right? Any alternatives please?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/01/2021 11:04

@Turnedouttoes, I'm not an expert, but I don't think keto rash is painful - itchy and uncomfortable, but not the level of pain you're talking about.

It may well have been shingles last time, but something different now - is it hurting the same way this time?

Lyrata · 16/01/2021 11:08

I fell off the wagon a bit on Thursday. My best friend’s house flooded so she and her husband came here, which was super nice as I’m alone other than that (less nice for them, I suspect). Anyway, so we had salmon and samphire and new potatoes but also a lot of amaretto sours.

I have found that I don’t struggle going back to this WOE which is good. Yesterday I had:

Breakfast: raspberries and creme fraiche
Lunch: chorizo fried with tomatoes and a bowl of chicken and bacon soup
Dinner: salmon with courgette, aubergine, onion and garlic. Raspberries for ‘dessert’

I might have the flood refugees back early next week so I’ve bought some steak + broccoli and chicken thighs + feta as I think those are two LC meals that will work well for guests.

I think I have five days of soup in the freezer for lunch - which will sort of be a treat as I’ll be able to have something different on each day instead of the same thing all week (although I don’t really mind repeating meals).

Turnedouttoes · 16/01/2021 11:13

@AthelstaneTheUnready that’s what I assumed at first but I found some experiences on Reddit last night and there’s lots of accounts of it being really painful. I guess maybe what I mean by pain is the intense itchiness that nothing helps.

It’s also much more widespread than shingles should be and completely symmetrical across my body which fits with keto rash. It’s starting to look exactly the same as last time. I’ll try to attach a pic

Howdidthathappen1 · 16/01/2021 11:20

Fab news about the bare naked noodles - I'm really hoping they agree with me
B. Omelette with mushrooms spinach and feta - i do winder if I will ever wake up not feeling starving! I have 500ml of water the second I wake and I've tried delaying breakfast but I could honestly eat a horse every morning
L last of the cauli cheese soup
D. Fry up - can't wait!! Sausage (aldi posher pork ones are less than 0.5c), bacon, egg, mushrooms and possibly more spinach

Other than my 1st thing bottle i struggle with water but seem to have taken to lemon and ginger tea so will do gallons of that

cheeseisthebest · 16/01/2021 11:35

That rash looks so painful poor you.

Yes you will wake up not hungry. I havent eaten since 7 ish last night, just making some scrambled eggs now. I wasnt actually hungry when I went to bed but got past it this morning.

Just went out to pick up click and collect and got a costa flat white from drive through and I didnt have sugar or sweetener in it. That is a massive deal for me and it tasted incredible. Really feel like I'm turning a corner!

Oneborneverydecade · 16/01/2021 11:36

Bloody hell @Turnedouttoes that looks really painful, you poor thing

@DataColour can you eat the yoghurt and cream cheese over the weekend before we start properly on Monday?

I've finally tipped the scales at less than 12st after ending the last bootcamp at 12st 1. 11st 13lb 3/4 ha. Hoping to get to 11st this bootcamp but that's maybe a tall ask

L: Chicken mayo salad
D: Chicken breast with buttered sprouts

My challenge for the day is avoiding the pb&j blondies my DH will be making with my DD

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/01/2021 11:40

Oh you poor thing, @Turnedouttoes.

Well, I guess the only way to rule it in or out as keto rash, is (as you said) to up your carbs a bit and see if that helps. If it does, great - you can still be lower carb than 'normal' and lose the weight. If it doesn't, start investigating other causes again.

Don't normally recommend this, but it might be worth you tracking your rough level of carbs (use the spreadsheet, not the inaccurate MFP!) for a while to get a rough idea of how low you were when a) it started, and b) when it starts to ease up. If this is the problem, you'll have a starting point for how low carb you - specifically you! - should go.

Different people tolerate carbs differently, and will lose weight at different levels of carb intake. If you are this sensitive to it, perhaps your 'carb level' for losing weight may be a bit higher than other peoples?

Discoballs · 16/01/2021 11:43

@Turnedouttoes the second picture in particular looks exactly like shingles, but as a pp said you can only get it on one side of your body. How strange. I've had keto rash in the past as well, but it was more like prickly heat. That looks so painful. I guess you'll know if you come out of ketosis and it goes away.

Oneborneverydecade · 16/01/2021 11:45

@Takingontheflab how're you getting on?

Discoballs · 16/01/2021 11:47

@Jollyholibobs I find when I'm getting back into LCHF I need to eat really high fat so neither my body or my brain feel deprived. If I miss this stage the cravings keep niggling at me. Once my body becomes fat adapted and my brain stops thinking it needs carbs I can can rein it back in and start eating fat to satiety.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 16/01/2021 11:52

(it is possible to get shingles on both sides, btw, just really unusual)

PastramiNoRye · 16/01/2021 11:57

We're thinking of making low carb tapas tonight...garlic butter prawns, fried chorizo, olives, meatballs and salad. Any other good ideas for wee dishes?

Discoballs · 16/01/2021 12:04

@AthelstaneTheUnready that's really interesting. I never knew that.
