This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

That should read "and 5lb in my second week"

Doilooklikeatourist · 10/01/2021 20:38

Having burst the button off my jeans a couple of days ago , I am ready for this !
We've finished the Christmas biscuits , DH still chomping his way through the chocolate and there's a slice or 2 of Christmas cake left ( might put it in the freezer )
Have stocked up on eggs , cheese and leafy greens , I'm raring to go 🥦🥑🥓🧀🥒🫒 🥬

LostaraYil · 10/01/2021 21:05

Thanks so much BIWI and Athelstane! I did bootcamp last summer and did ok, and even though I partly dropped off I was maintaining until mid November. Then the endless supply of biscuits, chocolates and mince pies at work and eventually at home reversed all my losses and then some.
I've been slowly getting back into it this week and have lost a bit, but I'm looking forward to some structure and accountability. Bring on the Big Stick!

Almahart · 10/01/2021 21:08

So looking forward to this. I actually started BC on January 1st and have shifted a bit of weight but really need the accountability or I cheat.

Mixitupalot · 10/01/2021 21:45

Wow @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimalthanks for the reply. That’s very encouraging. Plus we are the same height, I hope to get down to 10st that’s my goal weight.

PineappleSunglasses · 10/01/2021 21:52

Really looking forward to starting, got my meals all planned out ready

Patapouf · 10/01/2021 22:36

Spent some time today meal prepping for the next few days so I have no excuse to go off piste.
I fell off the bootcamp early last year (or maybe it was 2019) because I wasn't being strict enough due to breastfeeding and just lapsed into full on carbs. Frankly, if I dry up it will be a blessing to help wean demon toddler so I'm full steam ahead.

I'd managed to lose a bit of weight over the summer but it's all crept back on and I'm still not back in my pre pregnancy jeans 2 years post partum. My wardrobe is a sorry collection of clothes I'm hanging on to because I want to fit in them again, rather than anything that would look decent on my current frame.

I'm most looking forward to looking like myself again in the mirror, less of a scaly scalp, a reliably consistent period cycle and ALL OF THE CHEESE (and buttered greens) Smile

Justcallmecaptainobvious · 10/01/2021 22:46

Brilliant! Still in eating-the-Christmas-chocolate mode here. But this week I’m going to start cutting out some of the big things...like crisps (pure habit/boredom eating) and Diet Coke. Need to find time to go through the recipe ideas and make myself some really detailed meal plans, with plenty of snacks! Being stuck at home means I’m just eating constantly and I think it’s going to take a while to get that under control. Looking forward to getting good ideas from everyone.

prettybird · 10/01/2021 23:36

I sort of started today - but as I had some wine and a G&T Blush, will only be starting fully tomorrow. That way, I'll have finished the strict 1st 2 weeks of Boot Camp by Burns Night.

Dh and I drove ds back to Uni in Aberdeen today. All his books are there and he wanted to get back - plus the lease for his flat has a condition that it can't be left unoccupied for more than 4 weeks and his flat mate (who went home just before Christmas) has broken his ankle (in the car park before going on a hill walk Shock) so won't be able to go back to their 1st floor flat for a while.

Ds took the third of Christmas cake that was left and I also gave him the last two of my homemade mine pies Xmas Smile

Being in the car for a total of 5 hours helped with not eating Grin and I'd made sure to take a couple of water bottles with me.

I'd planned an easy meal for this evening (my dad's turn to come over - he's in our extended household): seared venison steaks with a cranberry/sherry jus (left over and supplemented from the one I made for our pheasant at Hogmanay) with butter whisked into it, served with creamy celeriac dauphinoise and butter French beans with added garlic. Yummy and so was the wine we had with it Wink

I served dh and my dad ice cream (to which dh added Maltesers) and didn't have any myself.

TMI alert Blush: I can tell I'm getting back on course (water, water, water Grin) as my pee no longer smells so strong Blush and is reverting to being properly pale Wink

BrassicaBabe · 10/01/2021 23:52

Pleased to be here again! I've been back on BC rules since 1st Jan. But also doing dry sodding January. So not snacking has been hard. Today I've fallen face first off the wagon and eaten all sorts of rubbish. Just couldn't quite cope with LC AND dry January. But still didn't cave on the wine front. So back on the LC wagon tomorrow and accept the consequences of today's over eating.

Goal for 2021 is to run at least 20km per week too. (Sadly which I know makes sod all difference to poundage lost Grin)

ShagMeRiggins · 10/01/2021 23:56

So I can get this straight, first weigh in will not be tomorrow Monday but the following Monday 18, is that correct?

ZiggZagg · 11/01/2021 06:42

Correct shag

CowGurl · 11/01/2021 07:57

Hello everyone. Back on it. Cleared freezer of ice-cream last night and 1 pint of water down already this morning! Grin

Jollyholibobs · 11/01/2021 08:09

Hello everyone. I made Almond, Pecorino and Tarragon tart last night from the Rose Elliot Low Carb book. Hope a photo will appear- but have never put a photo on MN before. It was delicious and I would recommend for any Vegetarians on here. It’s got lots of almond flour in the base so not probably not a good choice in the first two strict weeks. I think the recipe is already in the veggie recipe thread. Thanks BIWI and Athestane for the huge effort you put into boot camp I’ve been lurking on threads since August. I am a bit evangelical about this WOE now. It’s helped me control binging.

Really looking forward to being part of this thread.

I haven't put my name on the spreadsheet but am checking in as I had great success on bootcamp 2?? years ago and am now experiencing a bit of carb creep. I don't really have much to lose hence not putting my name on the spreadsheet but I really want to get back in the zone.

So hello everyone, wishing you all the best. If you haven't done it before it really works and BIWI is a fantastic sergeant major support.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 11/01/2021 08:29

Hello all old and new bootcampers!

I like this idea of a mentally-squaring-up-bootcamp week. Weaning off December's comfort food a bit more gradually.

Plus... like poor Brassica I also gave up drinking at the beginning of the month (WAAAAAAAAAAH), and gave up smoking last week, and am doing the January 30 days of yoga... so an extra week to accustom myself to all that before focusing on diet works well for me this year.

prettybird · 11/01/2021 08:43

I did weigh myself this morning as I'm starting officially a week early: just under 11st 11lb - so just under 9lb on over the Christmas period Xmas Shock

Oh well, onwards and downwards. Smile

Water, water, water Grin

m0therofdragons · 11/01/2021 08:55

I just checked back my weight logging on mfp and I started 29 January.
Height 5ft 5
29 January starting weight: 11st 6lb
11 January: 10st 12lb

I know this woe works so all I need to do is stick to it... Blush
I got 3 bottles of gin for Christmas but I’m leaving them closed... how I don’t know! I must really want my body back.

Laska2Meryls · 11/01/2021 08:55

Morning all.... Checking in for bootcamp.. I started last week with 6 Christmas lbs on but and am 3lbs down this morning .. (but last night I had a cheeky G&T .... )..
Id like to lose a stone if possible this BC which would take me back to my happy weight.
Good luck everyone. .. esp new starters.. This WoE works but you cant cheat!! Water water water is really important too

Ragwort · 11/01/2021 08:55

I'm in (won't go on spreadsheet as I never weigh) - have done very well on two previous Boot Camps so I know it works ... I am just not very good at sticking to it long term Blush. DH also wants to cut down on alcohol so that will help & DS has gone back to Uni. I've sorted out all the unopened chocolates, biscuits etc and taken them to the Food Bank (our local FB is currently overwhelmed with excess Christmas goodies Grin).

Today I am cutting out all food to 're-set' - just drinking water and coffee (with a splash of cream). That won't suit everyone but I am confident it is right for me - I am on furlough and lead a very sedentary life so I can easily manage a day without eating. Have planned meals for the week, feeling very positive.

Good luck everyone.

BrassicaBabe · 11/01/2021 08:55

I had a similar gain pretty. 9lbs on. Managed to get that to 4lb by Friday. But today we're back to 8lb on Hmm carb creep Friday abs Saturday and fell of the wagon on Sunday!

Back on it today. Most Christmas food has now gone from the house except chocolate which I can mostly resist or if not can stop after 1.

Onwards folks.

Oh, and I've found a liking for peppermint tea during dry January.

Oneborneverydecade · 11/01/2021 08:57

Good luck for the week everyone!

I was 12st 1 1/4 so 1/4 over what I weighed at the end of last bootcamp. I'm happy with that

BIWI · 11/01/2021 08:58

Morning all! Glad so many of you are up and raring to go already Smile

To answer a few questions/make a few points:

As @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal points out

You do need to stick to the rules though, or not only will it not work, but BIWI will get her Big Stick out

This is very true Grin. Low carbing is not the most forgiving way to lose weight. You can't cheat at one meal and then try and compensate at another like you can if you were counting your calories! And because it won't work if you cheat, I am pretty strict about calling people out on this.

You need to know that comes out of concern for you all Smile honestly! However, there have been lots of some posters over the years who have taken exception to this, and slink off or flounce off the thread because they think I'm being mean. Who, me?! I've been on too many other low carb groups or forums where cheating is met with 'don't worry hun, tomorrow is another day'-type answers have been supplied, with said cheater only to come back to moan about not losing any weight. So I know that there's absolutely no point in sugar-coating any kind of reply. Especially as we don't eat sugar ...

OP posts:
BIWI · 11/01/2021 08:59

@MilesJuppIsMyBitch

We've got a disgusting amount of chocolate left over from Christmas. I've just eaten a Lindt Santa to try to make a dent, but there's SO MUCH.

Why not give it away? We have a neighbourhood WhatsApp group currently taking donations of things like this to give as a gift to nurses/doctors/clinic workers at the local hospital, to thank them for everything they're doing right now

OP posts:
BIWI · 11/01/2021 09:00

@CisMyArse (nice name change!)

In preparation for this, I eliminated all sugar from my diet from Jan 1 and cut out all alcohol. Next week I'm kicking out the carbs

You won't be kicking out the carbs! Remember this is low carb, not no carb - and you should be eating plenty of vegetables and salad, which is where your carbs will be coming from.
