This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

Doing well here. A viciously cold wind coming off the sea so haven’t been out for my walk but good food choices.
Tomorrow’s meals: B - yoghurt & mixed spice, L - egg salad, D - sausages, neeps, buttered cabbage

ShagMeRiggins · 15/01/2021 17:49

I'm 3months in and still getting awful cravings around my period for sugar and crappy carbs, my hunger is limitless as well! I feel like my body is telling me it needs something (toast and chocolate 🙄?) But don't know what?!

I’m really sorry that I can’t remember the name of this poster, but have RTFT and haven’t seen a reply. (Might have missed it, I’m on my phone.)

If you’re feeling this way after three months—is it Bootcamp or Keto you’ve been following?—then it would be extremely unusual for you to be craving chocolate or toast.

I am NOT saying you’re “doing it wrong,” but it would be helpful to know how much chocolate/toast you ate before you started, it would also be helpful to see a full list of meals for maybe four days past, including specifics such as how much fat/dairy/veg was on the menu.

Don’t worry, we can help you sort these cravings! xo

DulcetMoans · 15/01/2021 18:00

Hello! I am jumping in. I couldn't add myself to the spreadsheet, wouldn't let me insert a line. I can follow without though if it is too late.

I have a 5yo and a 7mnth old and had gestational diabetes as well as a diabetic Dad so I have been researching a lot lately about how I can try and stop that happening to me. I saw the impact carbs had on my sugars when I was testing 6 times a day and feel more aware so ready to try harder.

A question if that is ok - moving from marg to butter, is salted butter better for this or normal butter?

AthelstaneTheUnready · 15/01/2021 18:08

I've added you on @DulcetMoans!

(for anyone else thinking about it - just add your name at the bottom and I'll sort the rest out)

BIWI · 15/01/2021 18:09

@DulcetMoans you found us! Smile

Salted butter is better - you need to eat plenty of salt on this WOE (way of eating)

Starting to feel better today, no doubt coinciding with the fact that the kids are at their dad's this weekend (having been secretly helping themselves to my precious double cream- probably to go with their mince pies- as I subsequently discovered. There will be Words upon their return Hmm).

Just been for a swim in the sea (WITH wetsuit, although there are usually a couple of septuagenarians doing the same in nothing but swimming cozzies and flowery bathing hats Grin).

Brunch: Eggs w/ mayo, green salad w/ blue cheese crumbled on top.

Dinner: Grilled halloumi, courgettes fried with garlic and chilli, celeriac remoulade, garlic mushrooms with (the last of the) double cream.

nowlook · 15/01/2021 18:25

Thanks @GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal
That really does does delicious!

BrassicaBabe · 15/01/2021 18:42

Great idea on the fajita front, thank you. So chicken fajita with guacamole, sour cream and salad. Very nice. Ans very quick.

Fancied pickles. Opened the left over jar of pickled shallots. 21g per 100g 😩 Obvs didn't have 100g but still...

BrassicaBabe · 15/01/2021 18:43

Oh and my resolution for this weekend is not to open the door to carb overload by not finishing the kids chips off.

Day #15 Dry January 👍

BIWI · 15/01/2021 18:50

I had to double check that carb count @BrassicaBabe - can't believe it's so high! Especially as these are only 3.1g!

OP posts:
BrassicaBabe · 15/01/2021 19:13

Hmm. Went back to the kitchen to double check. Yep, 21.g carbs per 100g drained @BIWI. Will have to shop better. Bought them thinking that as shallots they'd be low.

ChristMyArse · 15/01/2021 19:33

Evening all.

B - bacon with spinach
L - pork, spinach and cucumber
D - steak, cabbage, courgette, spring onion

1 let of water to go. I wish it was wine.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/01/2021 19:36

Found this in Aldi today - no idea if it'll taste nice, but I'll report back.

Finally caught up!

I had dental surgery yesterday and while the pain is ok im feeling very tender and afraid to chew. So an inadvertent fast(ish) for me. All i've had today is two bowls of my (admittedly very nice) bacon and veg soup. Will likely have the same tomorrow then will venture back into the world of mastication.

It is good timing as i weighed myself yesterday and well...i haven't undone all my hard work from the autumn but a distressing amount. Still i think if it wasn't for christmas i would have continued on the woe with no issues at all as i was in a really good place. Just need to work my way back there. After 10 weeks being very strict i do feel like i can fall back into it rather easily.

Does anyone have any good ideas for quick and little effort meals that is more then just picky bits? Want to trade?

My go to meals

Pakora plus spinach and raita. All courtesy of mr sainsburys.Pakoras just need heating up in the oven.

Everything-but-the-bun burger (this is my fuck it i just want to stuff myself guilt freemeal) self explanatory. My favorite additions. Cheese, sun dried tomatoes, coleslaw, spinach and fried mushroom and shallots. I get really nice fat burgers, one is plenty tbh.

Iamnotacerealkiller · 15/01/2021 20:07

Also i have found frozen raspberries a great thing.

Heat them in the microwave in a couple of 30sec blasts to defrost. Cover them with double cream and stir. The acid from the raspberries thickens the cream and so you end up with a delicious, quite tarte dessert that very much resembles a posh raspberry yogurt.

Also make your chocolate go further. Two squares of dark chocolate and 50-100ml double cream in a measuring jug. Melt it with short blasts in the microwave until the cream is boiling and stir. It make the richest, thickest hotchoc shot you've ever had and is much better then just eating the chocolate.

Obviously these last two are for post-week2

AthelstaneTheUnready · 15/01/2021 20:26

My fastest to prep I'm-so-virtuous meal is frozen salmon fillet, broccoli, olive oil, salt, pepper, lemon juice - in a foil parcel on a baking tray and in the oven for 20 mins.

Prep time about 3 minutes. By the time I've faffed about refilling the water bottle, fetching my book, patting the cat, rummaging for the tartare sauce, and yawning a bit, it's done.

Howdidthathappen1 · 15/01/2021 20:26

Late posting todays food - i need to ensure I post in the morning- coz if I've said olit then its gotta happen!
B. Omelette with mushrooms spinach and 2 cerry toms
L. Cauli cheese soup
D. Salmon fillet with massive portion of stir fry green veg - bok choi, long stem broccoli and asparagus

As a side question- my oh came home with bare naked protein noodles which to my untrained eye look perfect for lc - am I right?

ZiggZagg · 15/01/2021 20:33

@Iamnotacerealkiller how do you make your bacon soup? It sounds delicious 🤤 I don't eat pork but have some lovely beechwood smoked Turkey rashers which do not taste like normal bacon Smile

LostaraYil · 15/01/2021 21:11

I'm loving the ideas, @Iamnotacerealkiller. I'm not much of a cook so can't think of recipes worth sharing right now, my low carb staple is fat head pizza. That's out for the strict 2 weeks because of the ground almonds, I guess, but that's mainly what I will be eating this weekend!
Today:
Brunch: big green salad, hot smoked salmon, mayo
Snack: creamy coffee, peanut butter
Dinner: big green salad, chicken
Feeling good today, I went to work to collect some stuff for WFH and put on jeans instead of sweatpants for the first time in weeks. I was sure they wouldn't fit at all, but the jeans were fine!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 15/01/2021 21:24

Today's food:

B: ff Greek yoghurt with a few raspberries
L: Tuna Mayo with some spinach leaves in olive oil
Snack: few nuts, slice of cheese
D: Thai green curry with salmon, prawns, green beans, green pepper and asparagus served over cauliflower rice.

Struggling to get my water in as I mainly want to drink wine BlushWine

Iamnotacerealkiller · 15/01/2021 21:31

@ZiggZagg
Bacon veg soup. The veg can vary but here is my usual ingredients. I like to leave mine chunky so chop fairly finely but if you prefer it smooth no need.

2 leeks sauteed in oil (I use groundnut) for a minute or two.
Add 4-6 rashers of streaky bacon and stir until cooked but not Browning. Add 2-3 cloves of garlic.
Add 1 small carrot.
2 courgettes
Optional half couliflour
Optional mushrooms
Optional half Brussels sprouts
Cover veg with boiling water, add a chicken stock pot cover and simmer until veg is softened.

Blitz if preferred. Season to taste.
Serve with a little sour or double cream.

It's very versatile. The flavour comes from the leeks, bacon, garlic and stock so anything else is a bonus and is excellent for using up old stuff from the fridge.

venusandmars · 15/01/2021 21:39

@NotwatchingSpooks M&S meat crisps are excellent to add to soup, or just to eat on their own.

Had an exhausting day 'grandma-schooling' my dgc (both parents have unavoidable commitments on Fridays). We did baking, colouring, reading, orienteering - walked about 6 or 7 miles! And throughout, the chattering, singing, screeching, whistling was incessant - my poor ears!

B - coffee with cream (had to leave early so no time for anything else)
L - sausages, celeriac chips, broccoli, crispy kale
D - green soup, cheese and biscuits, celery (without biscuits)

ZiggZagg · 15/01/2021 21:42

Thank you @Iamnotacerealkiller 😍 Bacon soup for me tomorrow!!

DulcetMoans · 15/01/2021 21:44

Is anyone using any apps to track carbs?

Asda shop closes in a minute and i've been using the shopping list in the spreadsheet. I have Heck sausages as they seem lowest carb and are on offer. Not sure how to even prepare a celariac!

m0therofdragons · 15/01/2021 21:52

Friday night is hard. It’s been a tough week (work in a hospital) and today has been full on. I’m tired and want to eat everything. I’ve stuck with salmon on a bed of stir fried veg which was lovely but I’m resisting the urge to pour a gin. I might be okay as I think I’m too tired to make it to the kitchen anyway
