This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

Low-Carb-thievery going on here again. The litres of bootcamp-ready broccoli/chilli/blue-cheese soup in the fridge are down to ml ! (Apparently they prefer it.)

Dailyhandtowelwash · 13/01/2021 14:19

@StuntNun that’s interesting, although not wholly surprising as I know eating too little is not good. Usually eat dinner around 9pm so I need to make myself eat lunch somehow.

ShagMeRiggins · 13/01/2021 14:31

CisMyARSE actually wink

100%!!

BIWI · 13/01/2021 14:31

Welcome @NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace!

Great to hear that there's a keto section - just be aware that keto will probably be a lot lower in carbs than Bootcamp; generally, I think, the aim with keto is to keep carbs under 20g per day.

BIWI · 13/01/2021 14:33

@Dailyhandtowelwash

My question is about quantities. I have a very small appetite nowadays and often only eat once a day with no other meals or snacks. I suspect I will he roundly told off for that here - eg yesterday I had a courgette, tomato and feta bake for dinner with some leftover roast chicken. How can I train myself to eat more?!

If you're a long term low carber, there's no reason why you shouldn't stick with this, as long as you're eating plenty of veg/salad.

Welcome @RememberSelfCompassion - and great name! Hopefully you'll be following your own advice?! Grin

Just indicates that there's no reason why the rest of the family should eat any differently from you!

Ha yes the name is a mental self-reminder Grin

52andblue · 13/01/2021 14:54

@BIWI
I just wanted to say thank you so much for your personal critique of my current eating to help me adjust it for LCHF woe
and THANK YOU for the recipes. I don't have much energy for cooking / separate meals so this is really handy x

BIWI · 13/01/2021 14:57

My pleasure @52andblue - that's exactly what the chat threads are for! Any questions, just fire away

Hello - so today is good for two reasons, firstly its my birthday, and for the first time in 9 years I am with family so that's super exciting - more for me than them Grin

Also by the time I go to bed tonight i will have finished all the Christmas food and booze. Looking forward to it immensely.

Tomorrow its back on the wagon and stop pissing about with this.

B - Greek Yogurt & double cream
L - green soup or spinach and mushroom omelette
D - meat or fish with FLGV
W - 4 liters
Coffee - 2 black.

When I did this before Christmas I was doing so well down 8lbs in the first three weeks I think. Then I travelled, moved and Christmas - I know there shouldn't be excuses but there were!!

I am so looking forward to a proper post Christmas food routine which I don't start till after my birthday. need to also start going outside, Downside of the West of Scotland is its only daylight for about 20 mins and its raining and generally grey - to be fair yesterday was glorious but its soooooooooo cold.

1WayOrAnother2 · 13/01/2021 15:32

'Just indicates that there's no reason why the rest of the family should eat any differently from you!'

I agree -the whole family now happily shares my meals but usually have carb-snacks in addition as they are all unusually active.

I just have to guard against carefully pre-prepared meals being consumed as they wait for their own snacks to cook.

Who would have thought that cooked veg would be the most popular food in the house :).

They even like the daily 'spot the cauliflower' challenge.

IncurablyCurious · 13/01/2021 15:48

I keep wandering into the kitchen today, which is normally dangerous (I’m struggling a bit with a lab report and seem to be literally running away from it). But big carb clear out means that interesting teas are actually the best treat there! Grin Two pots so far today (a citrus and apricot black tea, and a rich rosehip and hibiscus fruit tea). V keen on this substitute for my milky lattes and sodas.

B: avocado with lime and salt
L: burrata and chicken salad
D: cheeseburger pie and FLGV

Really must try to up my water though. Do herbal teas count at all towards it, or does it need to be just water?

Stuckinstressville · 13/01/2021 16:42

Help! So strict strict strict esp with only really onions, leafy green veg and flax seeds, mushrooms, dairy and meats and allll the bloody eggs. For 10 days so far.
However - peeing like end of pregnancy aka all the bloody time - why is this?

gillyweed · 13/01/2021 16:44

I have a question about animal fats! I'm know butter, coconut oil and olive oil are great fats, what about goose fat (I have rather a lot left over from Xmas!)? TIA!

prettybird · 13/01/2021 16:45

@plumstone - I look forward to meeting for a coffee once Lockdown is lifted enough to allow us to do so Smile

Ninkanink · 13/01/2021 16:46

That’ll be the water you’re drinking! If you’re drinking as much as you’re supposed to, that is...You do get used to it after a while and your system adjusts (at least for most people this happens).

👋 to everyone.

I’m really just following along this week and looking to start in earnest next week.

Ninkanink · 13/01/2021 16:46

(@Stuckinstressville)

prettybird · 13/01/2021 16:51

@Stuckinstressville - StuntNun can give the proper scientific reasons but to reassure you, it does settle down Smile

Iirc, it's a combination of your kidneys getting used to the amount of water you're having and your cells releasing lots of stored water (there to help process the carbs?) as you become ketogenically adapted.

The plus point is that it contributes to the initial "whoosh" most but not all Wink of is experience in the first week or so of Noot Camp Smile

StuntNun · 13/01/2021 16:51

Stuck when you first go low carb you lose a lot of water weight... which has to go somewhere. Then your water balance changes... cue yet more wee. Plus you should be drinking plenty of water... it all adds up. It should settle down after the first week or too. It's a fine line because we need to be drinking plenty of water for optimum weight loss but if you're weeing too much then you'll lose electrolytes and may feel dizzy or fatigued.

venusandmars · 13/01/2021 16:54

incurablycurious yes herbal teas count towards your fluid - make sure they are not sweetened.

I'm the same as you if I'm avoiding something difficult - even if I'm not hungry I keep wandering into the kitchen, opening the fridge and wondering what I can eat. Fortunately there's nothing in there with carbs hence the surreptitious slurp from the pot of cream

StuntNun · 13/01/2021 16:58

Gillyweed any animal fat is good: butter, ghee, lard, beef dripping, goose fat and duck fat. Monounsaturated fats are also fine: olive oil, avocado oil, and nut oils such as walnut oil or macadamia nut oil. Coconut oil is also good; it's technically a saturated fat but it differs from the other days because it contains medium chain instead of long chain fatty acids. Polyunsaturated fats such as vegetable oils are pro-inflammatory. If you have an inflammatory condition such as arthritis or a skin condition then they will be exacerbated by these oils. You don't need to avoid them completely but they should be kept to a minimum.

LostaraYil · 13/01/2021 17:02

I had a good day yesterday:
L- omelette with tomato, onion and cheese
S- blueberries and a bit of cheese
D- chicken curry and roasted cauliflower
Today is ok so far
L- cheese, salami and salad
D- probably chilli, DH is cooking
I don't feel like I need a snack so just carrying on drinking water.
I've forgotten to have my usual afternoon coffee both days, and yesterday I ended up in bed early, but I might stick with it and just have black coffee in the morning. Really not very hungry at the moment but it's probably because it's rainy and miserable and I'm not moving much.

MrsOmelette · 13/01/2021 17:35

@plumstone Happy Birthday! I’m West of Scotland too..I haven’t been outside today either! We’re lucky enough to live by the sea - it was very dark grey out the window earlier.

ShagMeRiggins · 13/01/2021 17:38

@BIWI

Sparkling water? You can try adding slices or lemon or lime to your water, or strawberries/raspberries? Just don't eat the fruit! Other Bootcampers make up fruit tea and chill those.
I’ve always wanted to ask—why is sparkling water okay but other zero-calorie/carb diet drinks not okay?
