This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

Afternoon! (Or night, if I look out of the window).

Happy birthday @plumstone ! Hope you're enjoying your carb splurge.

Doing ok here, I think. I really appreciate the gradual mind-shift that this week allows. It feels right to be slow and gentle about any change at this time of year, especially this year.

B: yog, seeds & nuts (plus some dried cranberries), latte. (I know. Stopping next week).
L: I made the coronation chicken recipe upthread (thanks to whoever posted that), but with leftover slow-cooked pork. On salad. It was delicious.
D: lamb chops, buttered mushrooms and shredded cabbage.

Lots of water.

I think I know the answer to this, but I'm going to ask in case I'm wrong. Is dried fruit right out? It's a good source of iron, which is why I still have it, but I know it's sugary.

I think I've answered my own question, haven't I.

BIWI · 13/01/2021 17:58

You have! Definitely out of the question - actually, we really shouldn't give it to children either. I'm always mystified as to how it's got a reputation for being a healthy snack, as it's so, so sugary, and so bad for teeth.

Happy birthday @plumstone!

Today's food:

B: ff Greek yoghurt with a few raspberries, creamy coffee
L: Tuna Mayo and a boiled egg on olive oil drenched spinach leaves
Mid-afternoon: creamy coffee, handful of nuts
D: coconut curry with prawns, green pepper and spinach on cauliflower rice.

Oneborneverydecade · 13/01/2021 18:59

Happy birthday @plumstone

Rshard · 13/01/2021 19:06

Happy birthday plumstone

Lyrata · 13/01/2021 19:19

Happy Birthday, plumstone! Hope you have a good day with lots of birthday treats.

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal do you have a recipe for the prawn curry? I might make that the week after next! Sounds warming.

nowlook · 13/01/2021 19:20

Evening all!

Thanks to BIWI and Athelstane for the new BC thread. Feeling very emotionally-prepared for this one. Gave up the fags in May (albeit still have nicotine replacement); doing Dry January and ditched the bread last week. Just need to buy in the unsweetened soya milk for my tea; all the sparkling water and some proper Greek yoghurt for breakfast.

Oh, and a replacement for the 0% Heineken I'm mainlining...

B: Nothing- but plenty of tea with full fat milk;
L: Tuna mayo salad;
T: Mushroom, spinach and cheese omelette.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 13/01/2021 19:23

@Lyrata

Happy Birthday, plumstone! Hope you have a good day with lots of birthday treats.

Sssh! It was a Spice Tailior packet sauce. Don't tell BIWI, I didn't actually check the carb count. Blush

ZiggZagg · 13/01/2021 19:32

Happy birthday plumstone 🥳🥳🥳

For lunch I had a low carb roll with lots of butter
Dinner was beef and broccoli with asparagus and zero carb noodles. I had some double cream whipped up with 2 squares of 85% chocolate 🤤

PastramiNoRye · 13/01/2021 19:44

Good day today:

B: scrambled eggs with green peppers cooked in butter

L: chicken sausages with lettuce, avocado, Brie and mayo

Snack: ham and cheese roll ups

D: gammon with celeriac chips, fried eggs and buttered Savoy cabbage

tea69 · 13/01/2021 21:28

Eggs for breakfast
Sausages and salad for lunch
Roast pork, Halloumi salad for dinner

venusandmars · 13/01/2021 21:41

@prettybird @plumstone can I come if you're meeting up? East Coast rather than West, but please...

Inspired by everyone's menus and have at least 5 days of things I to try. Problem is that this woe makes me feel less hungry, there seems always to be left overs to be eaten the next day, and I haven't yet managed to reduce how much I cook even though dc left home years ago and I am still cooking for a full family

ANewDawnANewDay · 13/01/2021 21:46

B - Buttered eggs and tomato
L - Salad and chicken
D - Lentil soup and cauliflower

Had a good day. Drank lots of water and fruit tee.

me too! Dumfriesshire. If we're ever allowed to put a nose over county lines again, that is.

Dinner ended up roast fish chunks in butter, lemon, dill and mayo, with the last of the broccoli - changed my mind after fossicking about in the freezer and finding a bag of mixed fish.

Bumbledee · 13/01/2021 22:16

B - 1 1/2 boiled eggs and smoked salmon
L - chicken curry, Savoy cabbage and spinach sautéed in butter and garlic
D - roast pork belly, leafy salad and broccoli stir fried in butter, garlic and nigella seeds.

This was my first day without a snack. Although I did daydream about Tony’s Chocolonely!

I drank five cups of black tea and coffee does that count towards my 2 litres of water? I only drank 1 litre of water today.

Motivateinmotion · 13/01/2021 22:20

I can’t keep up with the menu suggestions I’ve got a huge list of things to try which is exciting and means can change things up when it gets tough!

B: olives
L: Edam slices with rocket and 1/2 avocado dressed in garlic oil
D: frittata and salad in garlic oil
Washed down with 3l water and coffees with almond milk

Q: am I ok to eat the seriously low carb bread during boot camp? I haven’t had proper butter in years for low fat diets and just cannot wait to have some bread smothered in proper butter!

ouchmyfeet · 13/01/2021 22:25

Just stumbled across this thread and would love to join you. I've had success with low carb in the past but always find it hard to sustain for longer than a few months. I have A LOT to lose (BMI of 43 and I'm tall so weigh over 20 stone).

Will ease myself in over the next few days as haven't prepared for this just yet so have planned carby meals this week. Shopping delivery on Saturday morning though so I'll do some meal planning and be ready for Monday.

Can someone point me towards "the rules" please? Seen them mentioned quite a few times on the thread but I don't know where to find them... is it just the post near the top of the thread (BIWI's second post)?

prettybird · 13/01/2021 22:38

@ouchmyfeet - the Rules are in one of the tabs in the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness that is linked to at the start of the thread (lots of other resources in the tabs too ) - but BIWI will be be going over them again in the official Week 1 thread next Monday.

Essentially 1st 2 weeks no pasta, potatoes, rice, nuts, seeds or fruit. Lots of fat (important), plenty of protein and a FLGV (Fuck Load of Green Veg). Some veg you need to be careful of (eg peas and sweet corn although baby sweet corn is ok but brassicas are generally ok as are neeps and celeriac. Again, there's a list in the spreadsheet) At your weight, you'll need to be drinking litres of water (that's non-negotiable).

@venusandmars and @AthelstaneTheUnready - will try to organise something for all of us to get to (probably next year at the rate we're going ) but I knew that @plumstone wasn't far from me now since she moved back to Scotland. @AthelstaneTheUnready has met me and knows I'm not a hairy trucker Wink I'd shaved my arms specially Grin

ouchmyfeet · 13/01/2021 22:41

Thanks. I remember all the water from last time. Don't enjoy it but I know it helps

prettybird · 13/01/2021 22:44

We've had discussions on this thread about alternative herb teas as a way to get the fluid intake up.

ChristMyArse · 13/01/2021 22:54

Evening.

Today has been

B - scrambled eggs and smoked salmon
L - lettuce, cucumber, cabbage, gammon mixed in Mayo.
D - roasted aubergines, courgette, peppers with prawns.

4 ltrs of water. Lots of teapigs and one great big stonker of a headache.

KOKO!

BrassicaBabe · 13/01/2021 23:01

@StuntNun "eating one meal a day (OMAD) is renowned in the fasting community for stopping weight loss."

Whaaaattt?!!! How did I not know that?! I find OMAD (or more truthfully OMAD plus some LC snacking in the same window) quite easy. So I've been doing it quite a bit tail end of last year and this year so far. Back to the drawing board.

SummerBody1 · 13/01/2021 23:02

Evening. As I read, it appears everybody's questione are being answered. The reason why milk is a caution is the lactose - a carb/sugar. Cream has less. but watch out as obviously calorific.

I also agree with the poster about planning. This is key for me. Once I get too hungry, I want carbs - and anything else makes me feel deprived. So even though I don't really feel hungry, I eat around 2pm, otherwise I'm starving around 5.
B: Eggs, mushroom and cheese omlette with creamy coffee.
L: Soup (shop bought, 4% carb)
D: Haddock fried in butter with veg++
Followed by herb tea and 85% chocolate.

I fancied a slice of cake after dinner but I know this is habit and the chocolate is great to kill that.
