This is the full list of those who have signed up. Hopefully you're all on The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness (unless you said you didn't want to be!

Remember, weighing in tomorrow is not part of this week, although if you want to, you can put your weight in the 'original start date/weight' columns

Thanks must go, as always, to the very lovely @AthelstaneTheUnready for setting up the spreadsheet. You'll see this time that we've amended it slightly so that you can record loss for this Bootcamp as well as since you started, for those of you who started earlier.

If your name isn't on the spreadsheet, don't panic! Just add it to the bottom of the list. Don't try to insert it in the right alphabetical place - Athelstane will do that later.

If you are on the spreadsheet, but don't want to be, send me or Athelstane a PM and we'll remove you.

Whatever you do, don't touch the blue cells!

If you're using a mobile to access the spreadsheet, you'll need to download the Google Sheets app.

Hello everyone, I’ve been lurking on here threads for a while. Did bootcamp last jan and lost over a stone but with lockdown and a very stressful international move, it has all gone back on again.

I wanted to join the pre-Christmas camp but I became ill and had a diagnosis of Hashimoto’s so have been battling with that too. I’ve had an under active thyroid for years so I guess it was inevitable really.

I’ve been doing this since jan 1 and in the first 10 days lost 5lb which is great. Most of thy at was probably bloating and water. I’m doing dry january too. In the last three days though I seem to be putting weight on again! I’m sticking to what I’ve been doing and have not had anything I can think of that might be causing it - can anyone help?

Example day:
B - some Greek yoghurt (couple of dessert spoons so not much) Tea with milk.
S- Bulletproof coffee
L - bowl of courgette, leek and onion soup with cream cheese mixed in (made a big pan of this so have had most days).
D - something like steak, creamy mushroom sauce, broccoli or leeks with butter.
Or
Bolognese with courgetti cooked in butter.
Or
Chicken cooked in butter or olive oil with creamy leeks and cauliflower rice cooked in coconut oil.
Lots and lots of water - 4l a day at least.

I have been having maybe 3 cups of tea a day with a splash of milk - could it be this?
One day I had a craving and had Greek yoghurt with four raspberries crumbled in, but that was it!

I am not doing much exercise - we are on a very strict lockdown here and you are not allowed out at weekends at all. I am homeschooling and the kids only ave a coupe of hours to have exercise and so we go for a walk or to the shop to buy food. But I’m not able to go out by myself so I can’t do much.

Just worried why the scales have gone back up 1.5lb. 🙁

MrsOmelette · 13/01/2021 06:57

@Onelittlepiglet I’m sure Biwi et al will be along soon to advise re meals/fluids etc but one thing I would say (if you are female) is that I have found, low-carbing previously, significant temporary weight-gain at particular times of the month. I would get despondent over the gain but actually each time when I tracked the entire month it was a definite loss. I know the others following the same way of eating that I knew also found this. Apologies if this is not relevant to you!

I’m doing okay but definitely not having enough fluids as they hurt my toothache...will work on it today.
B - mushroom omelette
L - tuna salad
D - beef curry with cauliflower rice

Onelittlepiglet · 13/01/2021 07:36

@MrsOmelette thank you - that is a possibility, although t I should be mid cycle....however it would not surprise me if my body decided to throw an early period into the mix! 🙄

venusandmars · 13/01/2021 08:25

@Onelittlepiglet Why the bulletproof coffee? It's a lot of calories for not much nutrition. The people I know who have it don't usually have breakfast and use the bpc to see them through from late morning until lunch at 2pm.

There's quite a lot of dairy - potentially at every meal, plus milk in your tea and whatever you put in your bpc. Some people stall if there's too much dairy.

Also, if you started 2 weeks ago, you may have found you've got to the week 3 and 4 plataeu where your body is adjusting to this new regime. Stick with it, and it will change. That's one of the benefits of doing bootcamp at the same time as others... We're all going through the same stage at the same time.

B - vegetable and cheese omlette
L - salmon pate and salad
D - lamb casserole, buttered Leeks and sprouts, crispy kale

Ragwort · 13/01/2021 08:34

MrsOmelette I also have serious tooth problems but one positive is that I just couldn't eat much Grin, after an emergency dentist appointment I was given antibiotics and feel so much better - Dentist did tell me I must avoid alcohol so that has helped! I managed a small evening meal - piece of pork fillet in a creamy mushroom sauce with green beans (only ate half of what I'd prepared - but really felt full).

Today will be coffee with cream for breakfast; hard boiled eggs, cheese & avocado salad for lunch and roast chicken thighs in garlic butter plus baked aubergine for dinner.

Tooth extraction next week (£££s as have to go private) trying to think positive - may also lose lbs Grin.

WitchWand · 13/01/2021 09:11

Good morning everyone Smile
Woohoo !! Finally managed to catch up on the thread.Grin

Lovely to read the different tea and recipe suggestions. Thanks for that.
And who would have known that sprouts in greek yogurt could be a thing. Grin

Yesterday evening I started to try on clothes I'd not been able to get into for a few years. When debating between berries and broccoli, it's definitely worth remembering how joyful an experience that can be !Smile

Frty · 13/01/2021 09:26

Morning all! How lovely to be doing this in a big group.

My downfall is also the glass of wine to mark the end of the day and I also tend to get a craving at 6pm. I find it easier not to drink at all, so maybe this is the time to knock it on the head altogether.

Today's menu:
B - Coffee with a little milk (I'll forego the coffee for Bootcamp - I really don't mind tbh, another habit)
Brunch - Yoghurt/ Berries/ Nuts & Seeds (for Bootcamp I'm planning to have just plain Greek yoghurt with cinnamon)
Lunch/ Dinner - Soup & low carb bread

Trying to do a bit of 16/8 next week, am not naturally a breakfast person anyway.

Weight was steadily going down and has now shot up overnight by 1.5 kilos. Bloody time of the month coming up (I hope that's what it is, so frustrating).

Lyrata · 13/01/2021 09:37

Is anyone else finding it really hard to tackle their freezer food thanks to all the lockdown and Brexit anxiety? I‘m determined to actually start eating it next week but part of me is anxious about things suddenly taking a turn for the worse.

Today is the last day of what turned out to be quite an underwhelming chicken and bacon soup which I’m thoroughly relieved by - I’m just trying not to think about the fact that said freezer contains a further four portions...

Dinner will probably just be vegetables and feta - potentially with some chorizo - as that’s all I have.

Planning a cauliflower cheese for the weekend - has anyone made an especially good one?

StuntNun · 13/01/2021 09:49

It's not unusual for weight to go up as well as down Piglet I'd give it a bit more time before making any changes. If your period is due then that often causes a temporary blip on the scales.

Frty with alcohol the withdrawal hits its peak at about 24 hours so that's why you get a craving at the same time each day. If you can go without for one evening then it will stop the withdrawal craving.

BrassicaBabe · 13/01/2021 09:51

@BIWI you are right about the no alcohol gins. Soooo expensive and the reviews are really mixed. Sadly trying to spend my will power on DJ AND LC this week has been too much. And it has been the LC that has gone out of the window Sad But today is a new day abs I think my will power stocks are replenished

ChristMyArse · 13/01/2021 09:56

I'm in the same boat weight wise. Today is day 13 and I've still only lost 3.5.. I keep loosing the lb that takes me to 4.5 down then it arrives back. AF arrived last night so I'm blaming that and then hoping for a whoosh. I've stuck to it so I'm hoping it all comes together at some point soon!

Frty · 13/01/2021 10:23

StuntNun I did not know that about the 24 cycle, how interesting.

NotwatchingSpooks · 13/01/2021 10:26

Morning, it taken me 2 days to catch up with the thread 😀

My go to Teapigs tea is Liquorice & Peppermint, I also really like Sweet Ginger & their limited edition Gingerbread. I also like the Pukka Lemon Ginger & manuka honey tea.

Please be careful with Liquorice in teas, read the boxes as it can cause hypertension. I say this as someone who’s husband ended up in A&E after drinking too much Green Tea.

OneLittlePigglet sympathies with your lockdown, that must be really hard, I have friends in Spain who told me about military on the streets enforcing their rules and I know how strict they are also in France. Not leaving the house at all at the weekend with children must be difficult, I hope you have access to some outside space.

In terms of weight loss, some people use a weight loss app, when the post, it is always a bumpy line with a downward trajectory and as others have said weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for a stall which is often followed by a whoosh of weight loss.

To the poster with LongCovid, sorry I forgot to write down your name and am in fear of loosing my post if I turn back a page, I hope that you are seeing some improvements, I have a friend who has long Covid who has been completely wiped out but is slowly seeing small improvements. I know that I feel so much better on this WOE and hope that it gives you some benefits too.

Finally to all new, welcome, this really does work, a massive thank you to BIWI, Stuntnun, Athlestone and everyone else who has done so much to get this up and running. They are so knowledgeable and really want you to succeed, do listen to them, look at the spreadsheets they have tons of information and remember they speak from a place of both knowledge and success. Finally remember this is free, there are no product links or endorsements.

I’ve been bootcamp ing on and off for a couple of years, I just under a stone down and A BMI of 25.9, I want to use this one to shift the last of my weight so that I can be a BMI of about 22/23 , I started at a BMI of 28.

I try to post a plan for my food for the day, this has been a game changer for me, as it stops me suddenly finding I need to eat and am hungry.

B Greek Yogurt with teaspoon double cream
L. Green veg soup with butter and grated cheese
D cottage pie with a swede and celaric mash topping and a FLGV

Morning 2coffees each with teaspoon double cream , between 3 and 5 a decaf coffee with double cream, lots of water and herbal teas to get me up to 3litres of water.

If I need a snack mid afternoon I have something low carb like slither of butter of teaspoon of mascarpone as I tend to find it is because I have not had enough fat, I know that this goes as I get more settled into this way of eating. However I know that the best thing to eat is eggs, but they are not something that I like that much.

venusandmars · 13/01/2021 10:27

Frty that doesn't look like much food at all. Not much fat, not much protein, not much carb (in the form of healthy veg). Unless your soup is a massive tureen chock full of meat and veg and thickened with butter...

We all have different appetites and metabolism, but if I ate that little I would be really hungry by 6pm and be craving all sorts of things - sweets treats, crisps, wine...

@StuntNun has written on previous threads about how eating more actually helps weight loss (or at least I think she did).

NotwatchingSpooks · 13/01/2021 10:29
  • Decaf coffee - That’s between3pm and 5 pm NOT 3 to 5 coffees 😀
NotwatchingSpooks · 13/01/2021 10:33

venusandmars yes she did, you have to eat, or your body goes into a starvation mode which stops you loosing weight

BIWI · 13/01/2021 10:35

@Onelittlepiglet the thing that strikes me immediately from looking at your menus is the amount of dairy - you're eating some at every meal. I'd see what happens if you drop that. And certainly, the milk in your cups of tea will soon add up!

Don't worry about the exercise - according to Dr Jason Fung (who wrote 'The Obesity Code') exercise only accounts for 5% of weight loss, compared with diet which is 95%!

OP posts:
venusandmars · 13/01/2021 10:36

lyrata I feel your pain. I've got turkey curry soup which I am thoroughly sick of. I've had to hide some portions at the back of the freezer until I'm ready to face any more of it reminder to self: next Christmas DO NOT buy a turkey

I've also been brave and taken a lockdown/brexit lamb casserole out of the freezer... If things take a sudden turn for the worse there's always the beans that my dh has stockpiled in the garage Grin

BIWI · 13/01/2021 10:36

... and as @venusandmars has pointed out (sorry, I should have read the rest of the thread before posting!), weeks 3 & 4 are notorious for little/no weight loss or even a gain.

OP posts:
BIWI · 13/01/2021 10:40

I agree (again!) with @venusandmars, @Frty - that doesn't look like much food to me. I get that you're fasting, but you should also be eating well in your eating window. Remember, low carbing isn't supposed to be about deprivation.

OP posts:
BIWI · 13/01/2021 10:42

@Lyrata

I know exactly what you mean about freezer anxiety! I'm trying to keep mine as full as I can right now. I have plenty of meat/fish, and I've bought more frozen veg than I would usually have - and I'm about to embark on some batch cooking too.

Re the soup, I'd defrost the remaining soup - make up another batch of a vegetable based soup and then mix the two and re-freeze. (I know re-freezing isn't recommended, but as long as it's been reheated thoroughly I can't see a problem with something primarily vegetable based).

OP posts:
BIWI · 13/01/2021 10:42

@BrassicaBabe don't sweat it! You only make life too hard and your goals impossible to achieve.

OP posts:
BIWI · 13/01/2021 10:43

@ChristMyArse

List out for me your meals/drinks over the last 3-4 days and let's see if there's anything we can help you with

OP posts:
MrsOmelette · 13/01/2021 11:11

@Ragwort oh no a fellow sufferer I’m sorry for you! I’m having root canal treatment saw the emergency dentist for assessing but it won’t be done till the middle of February and it hurts so much most of the time. I’m trying to eat and drink just after taking painkillers!

Oneborneverydecade · 13/01/2021 11:16

@GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal what do you think caused your diastasis recti? Was it a big baby, pregnancies close together etc I'm wondering if I have the same issue but the idea of checking makes me cringe

Thank you for the coronation chicken recipe - I'm going to try it for lunch

@Lyrata my DH made the chicken, bacon, mushroom soup (with some amendments) and I thought it was delicious - very rich. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy it but thank you for the recipe

I bought some plain yoghurt yesterday for a hair treatment and after all the yoghurt chat thought I'd try it - it's really nice! I've spent months on here thinking you were all mad as natural yoghurt is sour but I guess my taste buds have changed

@Catmaiden keeping it off for 8 years is hugely inspiring
