Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - week 6 already!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its weekly outing.

Don't forget to check out all the different resources on the spreadsheet - it's a huge mine of information.

We are now past the half way point - so only 5 more weeks to go until we get to Christmas! Shock

But that means there's still time to lose a good chunk of weight, if we all knuckle down and get on with it.

Flowers to us all!

*feeling ill 🙄

CowGurl · 16/11/2020 09:25

@NigellaAwesome Flowers and virtual hugs!

0.5lb of this week, after 3 the week before so pretty happy. I seem to have lost most of my weight off my belly which is fabulous!

BasicMadeira · 16/11/2020 09:31

@NigellaAwesome please be gentle and good to yourself and your DD.

It looks like the dreaded week was not as bad as feared. I am 2 lb down so that half a stone off so far. I would be optimistic that another half could follow that before Christmas. Certainly exercise is an essential for me but I do find it hard to go out in the damp wet rain these days. I always feel better afterwards but am sticking with the 5/6 runs. Also planning where possible to go for a walk on non running days.
Well done everyone and koko!

itsmeagainagain · 16/11/2020 09:46

@BurningGubbins I now fast on a Sunday which helps with a Monday morning weigh in Smile

BIWI · 16/11/2020 10:02

@NigellaAwesome

Morning BIWI you were up early! Thanks for the new thread, I can't believe we are half way through. I have just posted a pity party post on the last thread, and I think that is where it needs to stay - in last week, and this is a new one. Onwards and upwards!
Not so much early as going to bed very late! DH, DS1 and I were playing Trivial Pursuit, and it was one of those never-ending games where none of us could actually land in the centre - or if we did, get a question right!

I'm very sorry to hear about your DD, and like everyone else I hope that she's getting the help that she needs. Have you been able to to talk to her? Is she able to open up about it and how she's feeling?

And as PP have said - this is a crucial time for you to look after yourself as well. Do you have support? Could you take some time off work to just give yourself a break?

Huge hugs for Nigella. I'm so sorry.

Rayna37 · 16/11/2020 10:50

2lbs off but that still only takes me to half a pound UP from where I was after two weeks! Not been perfect though so fair enough.

Lovely roast chicken and veg last night with leftovers to add to salad for lunches. Beef Rendang in the slow cooker. Lots of nice bootcamp meals planned for this week.

A couple of positive things from this bootcamp so far. I've eliminated most snacking particularly my mid morning boredom nuts. My wine consumption is very low (just three glasses last weekend and two this weekend) and I haven't touched a drop of beer since we started.

Four and a half lbs to goal and a BMI of 21. Five weeks to go Confused

Solongsugar · 16/11/2020 10:58

Please can I be added to list 12 stone 3. Need a kickstart day to make up for fell off wagon for a day.

@NigellaAwesome My heart goes out to you and I sincerely hope everything improves xx

NotwatchingSpooks · 16/11/2020 10:59

NigellaAwesome Flowers thinking of you both.

After 2 weeks of being stuck, I’m 1 and 3/4 lbs lighter, really pleased, I’m hoping that the next half of boot camp brings more lbs off and that my clothes continue to look better on me.

I’m already thinking about Christmas food, and how to get the balance between treating myself, eating some of the lovely foods that we only have at Christmas and not undoing all my hard work. I’m pretty sure the secret will be in planning and preparation.

Today
B Greek yogurt, Tsp double cream, linwoods & 2 raspberries
2 coffees with Tsp double cream
L Ham , avocado & leftover homemade coleslaw
D chicken in a pie with buttery celaric mash & flgv

prettybird · 16/11/2020 11:00

1 and 1/4lb off this week - takes me to 11st 11lb, a full stone off since I started this Boot Camp Smile

Managed to squeeze do my belt into the next hole for the progress picture have now released it back to the first hole Wink - maybe next week it will be comfortable in that hole Grin

But real progress from Week 1 when I couldn't even get the ends to meet Shock

Thinking of you and your family Nigella Thanks

0.75 lb on here. I need to watch the nuts I think, but will KOKO.

NotwatchingSpooks · 16/11/2020 11:52

That’s brilliant prettybird

I’ve been on the NHS BMI calculator, as I was trying to do a list of what each 1 lb off (or on) means.

So far this boot camp I have gone from a BMI of 28.1 to a BMI of 26.8.

My aim is to get to a BMI of 25, so I’m almost half way.

What I have found, is (I know obvious but I had not really thought about it) that by doing a list of every 1lb on this weight loss journey against my BMI at that weight, I can see the progress nearer to a Healthy Weight BMI and that every lb counts, it’s not just about the end goal.

It may be something that helps others, so thought I would put it here. Maybe I should get a red pen (like Margret Thatcher culling her cabinet in the Crown) and cross the lbs off as they disappear 😀

StuntNun · 16/11/2020 11:55

NotWatching I've been eating this way for years and this is what I usually have on Christmas Day:

Brunch: half a grapefruit - no sugar as it doesn't need it; big pile of smoked salmon on one slice of buttered posh bread; Bucks Fizz to drink.

Lunch: meat (which varies but it's goose this year), chestnut stuffing, loads of veggies, one roast potato, gravy, glass of wine. Followed by a small slice of my mum's homemade Christmas pudding with extra thick cream.

That's it! No mince pies in the run up to Christmas; no polishing off selection boxes or tubs of Roses in the wind down to New Year. I simply have one luxurious celebration feast day where I mindfully include the foods that I know I will most enjoy and savour.

ponygirlcurtis · 16/11/2020 12:00

Take care Nigella, what a horrendous time for you. Big hugs Flowers

A small loss for me, I have lost 5lbs in total on BC. Slowly, slowly glacially getting there. Hoping that now I am past weeks 3 and 4 there will be a bit more movement.

BurningGubbins · 16/11/2020 12:06

Good strategy itsmeagainagain!

GorgeousGoldies · 16/11/2020 12:16

NigellaAwesome 💐

1lb off for me - well, there was yesterday, but Sundays seem to disagree with me (like a PP) and I’m always up on a Monday. I think that, although it’s all BC friendly, I do eat a huge portion of roast dinner.

20bloodypounds · 16/11/2020 12:25

NotwatchingSpooks here's another way to think of weight loss, pound by pound...

GorgeousGoldies · 16/11/2020 12:26

PrettyBird and Lyrata you look totally fabulous!

Midlifemission · 16/11/2020 12:30

NigellaAwesome Thanks that sounds incredibly tough for you both.

Well done to everyone with losses and to all of us for sticking with it despite curve balls.

I was a whopping 0.4 lbs down today. Grin
Thanks only to the new Renpho scales as that would have been STS on my old ones !
I am at peace with that as long as it's downwards.
I have AF looming too so hopefully next week will be even better.
I do think I can focus more this week as I have realised my lunches are better when I cook something with plenty of vegetables in it and leftovers - I've got a lovely Shepherds pie for today and then may make another fish pie too.
KOKO

NotwatchingSpooks · 16/11/2020 12:32

stuntnun thank you, I’m definitely thinking along those lines.

NotwatchingSpooks · 16/11/2020 12:42

stuntnun sorry pushed post by mistake.

For me I think it is not so much the meals, but as you quite rightly say all the ‘extras’ like Puddings, mince pies, chocolates, alcohol etc, the only good thing about lockdown is there probably won’t be much social stuffing of faces this year.

However, it is the balance of making sure there are treats for the family, that are not actually disguised as stuff for me 😀 . Who was it who said that she realised that the treats were actually being eaten by herself.

I do like the idea of lovely smoked Salmon, a glass of nice champagne Etc

Rayna37 · 16/11/2020 12:49

And for the next instalment of Rayna's Random Ramblings on Yogurt...

This is really nice, very creamy; definitely Greek Style rather than Greek so much more palatable if you're not always keen on natural yogurt on its own. Same low carbs as you find in the standard Greek yogurts- 3.8g per 100g but tastes unnervingly like the ones that come in at 6g+.

I'll add to the useful products thread. Spotted it in Morrisons but it's on general sale I think.

BurningGubbins · 16/11/2020 13:06

Thanks for that Rayna37. I am considering branching out from Asda’s own brand yoghurt. I ran out the other day and had to have Morrison’s own and it is far less sour even though the carb count is about the same. Made me think I could be missing out on other brands!
