Pre-Christmas Low Carb Bootcamp - week 6 already!

Morning all

Here's the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness for its weekly outing.

Don't forget to check out all the different resources on the spreadsheet - it's a huge mine of information.

We are now past the half way point - so only 5 more weeks to go until we get to Christmas! Shock

But that means there's still time to lose a good chunk of weight, if we all knuckle down and get on with it.

Flowers to us all!

Ate some stuff I shouldn't yesterday. I definitely need to work on having Ingredients in for nice lunches at the weekend.

Went to a farm shop nearby and got 10 x 8oz Rib Eyes for £30, fantastic local meat. Also some pork belly that looks amazing and a bit of veg in advance of a quick Aldi trip today. Last night was steak, shallots/mushrooms/courgette in butter and garlic, and cavolo nero. Two glasses of red is doing me no favours this morning especially with a toddler climbing in yet again during the night. We made the effort to "dress for dinner" and use the dining room which was nice but still, I miss restaurants!

Nice butcher sausages for brunch and fajita style chicken this evening. Looking forward to the Zoom!

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/11/2020 09:28

Went out proper out to a pub last night with another couple ( in Wales , we are allowed )
Completely fell off the wagon in sheer joy of being out , but the creme brûlée was worth it and I will use Fridays weight on Monday if the obvious happens

Planning a trip to the coast for some fresh air and a long walk

BIWI · 22/11/2020 10:06

Oh how I envy you being able to go to the pub!

I caught myself thinking this morning about how we could go out for Sunday lunch at one of the best pubs in Wimbledon, before realising that of course we can't Sad

(Gutted too because it means cooking again today - normally we go out on Sunday, either for lunch or dinner)

It was lovely , and as we haven't been out since August 😫it felt like a real treat ( which it was ) and it's just a basic village pub , about half a mile away , so we put our head torches on and walked
Our part of the village has very few streetlights , and no pavement !

20bloodypounds · 22/11/2020 10:55

That sounds lovely Doilooklikeatourist especially being able to walk there. It's out anniversary next weekend and I've booked a hotel which is all of 3 miles from our house (in Scotland, in tier 2 so can't go to the nearest city but can travel around locally) I was going to cook at home but I've just got so fed up of it, night after night... I haven't yet told dh. If it's nice weather next weekend I'm thinking of dropping our bags off early in the day, and then in the afternoon taking dh out for a walk, ending up (surprise!) at the hotel. I am looking forward to a night in sumptuous surroundings but most of all I am looking forward to going into a restaurant, smelling delicious food cooking and then choosing something from a menu, something I haven't planned, shopped for and cooked myself.

Had lots of left over veg in the fridge so this morning I've been making chicken and vegetable soup with blue cheese. Had a small bowl for breakfast, there is more for lunch, and some for the freezer.
D will be steak and kidney pie without pie with aubergine, mushrooms, and kale.

poorbuthappy · 22/11/2020 11:02

@ShagMeRiggins I need to excuse myself gracefully from this evening's zoom call. Something has come up. I hope there's a waiting list?? Smile

Lyrata · 22/11/2020 11:03

Ah I’m so jealous of the restaurants. Or dinner parties or anything really. It’s my sister’s birthday this weekend and I was meant to be down for a celebration but it’s all been cancelled. (Good for temptation but bad for anything else).

Jdhshekr · 22/11/2020 12:28

I found these in Aldi yesterday. Only 2.9g carbs for half the rack. I’m hoping it’s going to be nice but I am taking my life into my ha did a bit as I generally can’t tolerate chilli unless it’s a tiny bit so if you don’t hear from me tomorrow I’m stuck in the bathroom with my intestines falling out.

The scales have been stuck all week again. So maybe the aforementioned scenario might help things along a bit. #silverlinings

Oh those ribs look good. I was thinking of an Aldi trip to pick up some bits and pieces for variety. I am in an Asda rut.

I’ve had a thoroughly lovely lunch of sausages, celeriac colcannon and buttered green beans, which has set me up nicely for a walk along the beach. Happy Sunday all!

Takingontheundead · 22/11/2020 13:08

shag I'm so sorry, works gone mental today and then I'm back on nightshift. I'll go on wait for next one. I'm pulled in all directions today

They were really nice. Thoroughly recommend.
BuffyTheBuffetSlayer · 22/11/2020 13:22

Those ribs do look nice! I did an aldi shop a few days ago but never saw them, I'll keep an eye out for them next time.

B. Fasting
L. I made a low carb fry up but felt really 🤢 after, no idea why.
D. Will be the roast veg and chicken in nando's sauce with cauli rice.

prettybird · 22/11/2020 13:31

Last night I had a lovely griddled lamb leg steak, that had been marinaded in olive oil and oregano, served with a garlicky celeriac dauphinoise and buttered strips of courgette (was going to be buttery green beans but I didn't have as many as I thought).

Was down at 11st 9.5lb this morning Smile - and that's also with (TMI alert Blush) no bowel movement for over 2 days Grin

But I'm at my dad's for supper tonight the sole extent of our socialising at the moment Wink - so heaven knows what I'll be getting Hmm

Midlifemission · 22/11/2020 14:43

Haven't managed to post for a few days as been hectic but all good things - PIL house move is all confirmed and I am busy organising things like contractors and curtains !
Also managed to land myself a new job on Friday - fingers crossed as still got to finalise package but am pretty overjoyed about that to be honest .
It's good news all round but I have also had some pleasing thoughts about fitting back into some Much loved but long outgrown work clothes when face to face meetings are a thing again.
Am doing ok food wise - managed to try a new local Indian food delivery service on Friday which was great and fairly easy to stay low carb I had chicken wings and a salmon tikka and salad for main ! Lovely not to cook.

Really hoping the scales will be kind tomorrow it's year since I have been this virtuous !

I also contacted seriously low carb bread lady and they were great and are also sending me a new batch which this time will go straight into the freezer. It's a great option to have at the ready - I have frozen pate I will probably have some of the bread with in the week.
Just in the middle of cauliflower soup too so hopefully another busy week will have some good food options at the ready !

Hopeislost · 22/11/2020 16:08

I donated blood this morning and felt dizzy afterwards so had was practically force-fed one of those little packs of biscuits. Annoyed at myself even though the nurse was quite insistent.

Roast chicken with FLGV for dinner so straight back on it!

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 22/11/2020 16:25

Hi all, am in Wales too so went out for lunch today - haven't done that since the summer. Went to a tapas place and it was so nice to go somewhere with low carb friendly options. I actually had a choice - so many places are carbs with a side of carbs!
Anyway, had smoked duck on a citrus salad (only a small amount of citrus though, mostly lettuce), pork belly with peas, mushrooms cooked in garlic and cream and an espresso martini but we'll skim over that.
Think I lost another pound this week but not certain because I do go up and down over the course of a week.
Had nsv in that a coat which used to be too tight, is now wearable, so am happy about that.
Good luck for weigh in tomorrow everyone

WitchWand · 22/11/2020 16:40

Great to read everyone.

I've just finished working for the weekend and I'm going to have some alcoholic beverage to end the week.
I don't want to go mad and spoil things for tomorrow's weigh in. So, I'm saying it here. Firming up my commitment again.

( there's still something about the week- ending that seems to feel like a permission to indulge... hard to nip it in the bud even after these keto weeks. Confused)

Doilooklikeatourist · 22/11/2020 16:41

Got some fresh air !
Weather was kind to us ✅
If anyone remembers watching Grand Designs a good few years ago , here is the life boat station that was converted into a home

Roast chicken with crispy skin and tons of green veg for dinner

Flipping heck, I'm usually okay with sprouts, but sprouts plus celeriac appears to be a lethal combination for me - I've been a one-woman chemical weapon for the last 24 hours!!

Lunch today was soup and a chunk of cheese. Supper is going to be steak and FLGV.

WitchWand · 22/11/2020 17:01

VeryLittleOwl "Better out than in" springs to mind. Grin

Mimosa1 · 22/11/2020 18:32

@ShagMeRiggins forgive me if you have said before but how did you get into styling? It's lovely of you to offer advice like this and I'd love to join the 4th zoom. I've started to follow a few stylish people on Instagram and I'm enjoying seeing how they put things together.

Lol @VeryLittleOwl 's one woman chemical woman.

3 more weeks until I'm hopefully lying on a beach - I can barely believe we will be able to go - so I'm motivated to stick with it until
then but I'm determined to thoroughly enjoy the trip if we are able to go! I'm going to aim to maintain rather than lose while I'm away, but if you're running it again in Jan @BIWI , I shall be first to sign up to Jan's bC as I still have a long way to go!!!

BIWI · 22/11/2020 18:42

@Mimosa1 I think there would be a riot if I said I wasn't going to run the January one! Grin

@BIWI oh please do Grin

I have been raving to anyone who will listen about how amazing bootcamp has been! I've lost weight, fit into clothes I haven't for years and I feel amazing about myself! My mental health has improved massively too! Who would have known 6 weeks ago I would feel this way! I'm so glad I found bootcamp and stuck with it this time Grin I still have a long way to go but I am more confident than I've ever been that I will get there!
