Leaving Lockdown Low Carb Bootcamp - last weigh-in!

BIWI · 03/08/2020 07:19

Morning all

Very much looking forward to finding out how everyone has done so here's the Spreadsheet for its last outing

I had hoped, when I started this Bootcamp, that we would have left lockdown properly by now, rather than being in this weird kind of limbo that we find ourselves in. But hopefully it has achieved its objective, of getting us all a bit more focused and healthy, rather than just eating and drinking ourselves to death before the virus could do that!

We will, of course, carry on - I'll keep the thread going and when it's finished, we'll start another one. Just because the ten weeks is up doesn't mean that the diet has ended Grin

Here's to a good result on the scales this morning Flowers

This is the start of week 4 for me, down 0.7kg for the week and 3.4kg overall. Huge thanks @BIWI for organising this. I shall continue on the chat and weighing in on Mondays as my goal is still 10kg away. Good luck to everyone weighing on on the final week!

StuntNun · 03/08/2020 07:41

I managed a week away at my mum's house without gaining weight which is a miracle. She's a feeder and tends to get carried away. Last time I was staying with her she cooked me a steak as big as a plate; there was literally no room for any sides! She means well but in her head I will always be the skinny little waif I was as a child.

nowlook · 03/08/2020 07:42

Well done @Mimosa1
Anything in week 4 is fantastic Grin

SulisMinerva · 03/08/2020 07:45

NSV for me - I’m back in an old pair of shorts. Bit tight getting it over my bum but fine on the waist. Hubby has also commented on how much I seem to have lost. Think this is week 5 for me and very pleased with my progress so far.

Mimosa1 · 03/08/2020 08:08

Thanks @nowlook and @StuntNun I'm so impressed you managed to STS at your mums. Ive been looking at my weight tracker and I'm good at losing weight but awful at keeping it off hence yoyoing a lot. Gaah. Still, I'm determined to keep it up this time (and have a long way to go... again).

Rshard · 03/08/2020 08:08

Thanks for the final week thread BIWI and for starting this lockdown bootcamp. Your support and that of everyone else has really helped me during this weird time.

Another lb off for me so, 15 in total and just 1 from being in the 10’s. I’m hanging around as I’ve still a way to go and well, I like it here.

Congratulations on your new niece devoncreamtea, hope you get to have a squeeze of her soon.

8Track · 03/08/2020 08:09

I'm at the same stage @Mimosa1 - week 4 starting over here waves. I'm clocking in at 84.3kg, down from 89.6 - I messed up my first weight on the spreadsheet though, so that's not quite right.

Tiny loss this week, but entirely happy with that on week 3/4 (and FAR too much Cava celebrating leaving a job on Friday!). Also delighted that as of this mornings tape measure my hips are down from 111cm to 105cm and waist from 96 to 89. All is feeling good - this really is a great way of eating, and thanks to you all and @BIWI for the support and organisation.

I will also be carrying on at least until a hoped for motorsport holiday in France mid September until I am back to a healthy BMI. Even the loss of 5% of my body weight feels so much better, not to mention the mental health improvement, stretch mark easing, energy levels, skin clearness.....gushes embarrassing thanks and slinks off for another coffee

I’m pleased with what’s come off and, even better, don’t feel like I’m really “on a diet” which, as we all know, will come to an end at some point, either in a plate of doughnuts, a loaf of crusty bread or a crate of wine...
Thanks again to BIWI and Athelstan and all of you. Down around a stone and a half from over 104kg to 94. Will KOKO as I think my ideal is around 88. I have never been under 87 in my memory, and that was when I was gymming 5 days a week. Won’t see those days again.

BIWI I want to add that not only did you possibly prevent a heart attack and depression with your timely intervention, you also saved my liver. It took a complete change like BC to stop me drinking so much, and all joking aside, I’d be in a bad place if I’d continued through lockdown the way I was going.

So, well done to all of you with great losses and small, and to those of you working your way through the weeks. Keep it up.

'Mr. Numbs is okay, he's in pain and possibly milking it but he wasn't injured too severely fortunately! And yes, he was cycling! I'm very thankful he was wearing a helmet. He's annoyed because his helmet is broken! '

Glad that he is on the mend Numbs. My DH also came off his bike last week- cycling after work. Helmets are great! He seems to have broken or cracked some ribs ... so still in some pain and groaning a lot in his sleep (I am suffering with him🙂) but is on the mend.

I'll be here next boot cam and the next. The weight loss is slow in my hormonal state and I still have a mountain to cross Grin

It is good to have such great company.

2.5lbs up for me on scales today after Saturdays antics 🤦‍♀️ so I'm "finishing off" bc on 1st 10.5lbs lost.

We have a lovely childfree weekend coming so a bit gutted as I'll probably only get rid of that gain just as it goes back on! Ah well. I koko.

But this is what life in maintenance is going to be like! You don't reach a specific weight and then never move from that. Maintenance is about having a realistic idea of what you're prepared to see on the scales in terms of an increase when you up your carbs (for whatever reason).

Bear in mind that the immediate gain from eating/drinking a lot of carbs will primarily be the re-filling of your glycogen stores - so should be easily got rid of over the days immediately afterwards.

Thanks for the new thread (and continued support!).

I am visiting family so no weigh in for me. Am managing to stay mostly on this woe despite people trying to lead me astray! Having a G&T or a few berries has been enough of a 'treat' for me.

Two separate people have commented on my weight loss which is lovely. Although I haven't lost loads, it all seems to have come off my stomach so is quite noticeable!

Ragwort · 03/08/2020 10:10

Thank you BIWI this has been such a great motivational Boot Camp, I have lost a stone and really cut down on my drinking ... I know when I have gone wrong Blush and feel inspired to KOKO.

Good luck everyone.

venusandmars · 03/08/2020 10:11

I'll be here on the continuation thread. Still trying to get my bootcamp mojo back. Had family visiting all over the weekend. Food was mostly all OK, but too much cheese, and definitely too much wine.

Back on it toady though:
B - avocado
L - egg mayonnaise, lots of salad
D - salmon, lots of veg
Water.....

MrsKoala · 03/08/2020 10:20

Morning all. I’m up 4lb to 11st 10, but I’m fine with that. It’s still in my acceptable range of weight. Once I hit 12st I go back to BC strict till I’ve lost a bit. I’ve done some exercise in the last week so I suspect it’s a bit of muscle weight too. I am feeling more toned tho, so I’d rather be heavier but look/feel better. That’s 12lb off this BC. I’m really pleased.

Thanks BIWI, Athelstane and all of you keeping me going. I shall probably continue hopping on and off bc threads - like a lovely supportive bus that keeps going round.

Wormthatturned · 03/08/2020 10:33

Thanks BIWI and everyone for making this such a painless venture. The last 2 weeks have had a bit of 'end of term' vibe, I've not been totally committed but still done ok. I'm still hoping to lose another couple of lb so will continue.
Just read in the news that if everyone who is overweight loses 5lb, it would save the NHS more than £100million. I'm feeling proud that I've done my bit and very impressed by our collective efforts. Well done, losers!

NoraEphronsneck · 03/08/2020 10:37

Morning everyone. Another 1lb for me today so that's 25 in total which I'm delighted with 😁

I'll definitely be continuing with the chat as I find it a great support even if I don't comment that often.

Thanks BIWI for keeping us on the straight and narrow.

ThinkAboutItTomorrow · 03/08/2020 10:50

Thanks @Biwi and everyone else for keeping this going and keeping me honest. Great to hear everyone doing so well.

I'm logging 130lbs which is 1 down on the week and 9 down across the boot camp. My rhythm of a pound a week seems pretty established but I'm very very close to my final target of 9 stone now.

I even hit 128lb on Friday / Saturday!

I'm at the nice stage of buying new clothes. I need way more casual stuff as my work wardrobe is being ignored with wfh. Also haven't bought much for ages because I was hating how everything looked. Now I'm liking stuff a lot more.

Best of luck keeping on everyone.

Takingontheworld · 03/08/2020 10:53

Oh yes, of course... but with like 3/4st left to go I'm anxious to keep seeing them move. Makes me feel like I'm standing still when i lose weeks to maintaining at this stage- BUT before you stick me obviously i could choose not to get drunk and eat burgers and avoid this issue. So my own doing of course.

I'm still really pleased that I've stuck to it, enjoyed it, found you all in the process and i feel pretty confident I'm gonna make it. X

OneFootintheRave · 03/08/2020 10:56

Thanks for the new thread and ongoing support!

I am very much in maintenance at the moment and experimenting with what I can get away with at the weekend. I've been kind of stuck weight wise the last 3 weeks but that's fine as I'm joining a local gym today and should be getting a bit more toned and will up my activity seriously.

I'm sticking to pretty much 16/8. What does that do in combo with low carbing? To me, it feels that it just keeps the ketosis going more "strongly" if that is the right word? And for longer periods. I'm fine with just drinks in the morning anyway so why not? :)

October sounds like good timing for a pre-Christmas check-in. This year I will also be doing the "dry Jan" I think. KOKO everyone Smile

devoncreamtea · 03/08/2020 11:13

Morning!
Fantastic losses! Taking you’re doing brilliantly! Nearly 2 Stone is an awesome result - good work!
I weighed on Thursday after my 2 weeks away whizzing round the country and was 164. Today 160 - so right direction again! I’d got to 158 before I left with a few glimpses of 157 - so hoping to be back there soon and then keep going. I’m knocking wine on the head for a bit, trying a 16:8 and watching my dairy (cream 😬) intake for neXt few weeks. Would love to be firmly in the 10’s by September!
This Bc has been Such a tonic during this weird time. It’s been so lovely to chat and have a shared focus. I wish you all well xxx

Choux · 03/08/2020 11:25

Disappointing final weigh in of 0.8lb gain due to a wonderful and long overdue weekend away with friends so restaurant food and a couple of alcoholic drinks. I did leave the bread basket completely untouched, turned down sugary lemonade coolers and had just an affogato when everyone else had desserts though so I did exercise restraint and made low carb choices where possible. The Yorkshire pudding on my Sunday roast was never going to be uneaten though.

That leaves me on a 5 week boot camp loss of 7lbs. I will be KOKO for another 20lb or so and I really feel I can do it. I want to be in the tens hopefully by November.

Hope to keep chatting with everyone else who is keeping going! We can do it!

8Track · 03/08/2020 12:06

I'm loving reading everyone's updates this morning. We sound much more calm and 're-set' than at the start of bootcamp where I wasnt even in the headspace to join

Really interesting @BIWI and @MrsKoala about having a fluctuation 'bracket' of target weight - this seems like a very sensible way to go. In fact I think it's what I did before I gained weight - never really knew what I weighed, but cut the crap when I got a bit bukgy in my trews!!

Just back from a lovely hours outdoor swim, enjoying a cup of tea. Will shower and slather on moisturiser and lay in the sunshine to let it soak in terrifyibg the neighbours before some eggy thing for lunch. A sort of inadvertent 16:8! Always seems tricky as I dont eat until quite late in the evenings with a music industry DP.

I'm between jobs for a week and it feels WONDERFUL. Very holiday ish.

Rshard · 03/08/2020 13:36

I totally agree 8track, I think this boot camp has done as much for our mental wellbeing as it has our physical health/weight.
