There are some recipes on the recipe thread that use those noodles, by the way. They may not be called Bare Naked, they're probably called shirataki noodles, which is their actual name. They're Japanese, made from a Japanese yam (nothing like the yams we know), and it's konjac flour that is made from that.

They're a traditional Japanese product.

Thanks for the recommendation @Mimosa1 I will definitely end up trying that at some point!

DH bought us steaks as a 'treat' but has come home with fillets 🙄 I have made a creamy garlic chorizo mushroom sauce to go on top to up the fat content! It smells amazing!

ShagMeRiggins · 17/07/2020 19:52

Hopeislost what’s wrong with fillet steaks?

BIWI · 17/07/2020 20:02

Fillet steak is perfect low carb food. If you're frying them and serving with a creamy sauce, nothing wrong with them at all. (Or even not, frankly, as I love a good fillet steak!)

I'm guessing you think it's wrong because it's lower in fat. Don't worry about it.

Takingontheworld · 17/07/2020 20:08

Hate fatty meat so i always buy lean and add in other fats.

Am at a bbq, have had 1.5 burgers, salad leaves? Homemade coleslaw that i bought and have eaten raspberries and drank diet lemonade while everyone else eats crisps and wine.

Not perfect, but still on track.

Hopeislost · 17/07/2020 21:41

Sorry that sounded really ungrateful! I love a fillet steak, I'm just really enjoying being allowed to have fattier meats on this woe.

Aha! You wanted a ribeye... Wink
NumbsMet · 17/07/2020 22:18

@BrassicaBabe let me know how you get on! I wasn't a fan of the smell when I opened the pack but I'm very glad I knew not to worry about that.

Thank you @BIWI , honestly I haven't been missing bread or sugar or anything else, but these have been a gift from heaven for me because I miss pasta so much. I'll definitely be looking at the recipes thread.

BrassicaBabe · 17/07/2020 22:47

I'm a cheap date. Much prefer rump to fillet. Also prefer brisket to most of the expensive roasting joints too Grin

MrsKoala · 17/07/2020 22:57

I’m a sirloin girl. I love the strip of fat down the side. I get to eat everyone else’s too as no one else seems to like it.

StuntNun · 18/07/2020 06:03

Those konjac noodles don't agree with me at all, I get bloating after eating them. I assume it's the high fibre content as I'm the same with coconut flour-based foods such as low carb breads.

Mimosa1 · 18/07/2020 08:05

Oooh, I shall be buying some of those noodles myself and giving them a try!

I love fillet steak. We've been treating ourselves to meat from our local butcher rather than Ocado and it's really has made a difference in how nice it is. I never really bothered pre pandemic, but with the difficultly in getting delivery slots early on, we shopped much more locally and I don't think we'll go back for some things, especially meat.

We're hosting a socially distanced bday party for a relative in the park today. I've ordered party food from M&S and they've got a few good low carb options - chicken drumsticks and mozzarella, olive and chorizo skewers - as well as sandwiches and cake, etc. I'm planning to have a big breakfast so I'm not ravenous during the lunch party as I've -just- sneaked under 80kg - and I want it to last.

Koko all

Still have this pot of ricotta... any ideas?

BIWI · 18/07/2020 08:29

Either some kind of creamy sauce (cheese or mushrooms, or over pan-fried leeks with a hint of chilli?) or I'd make a pâté with it. There's a lovely recipe for mushroom pâté on the recipe thread that uses cream cheese - could substitute ricotta for that I guess?

Apologies if you don't like cheese, mushrooms or leeks!

Takingontheworld · 18/07/2020 10:12

Mushrooms are a big no but i do love leeks, and cheese is my staple food 😂😂😂

There is lots of inspiration here although some of the recipes aren't low carb. There is a moussaka with ricotta topping and a courgette salad that sound nice.

Wk 3 for me and so far STS. Planning a strict weekend with even more water to see if I can flush away a pound before weigh in. Have eaten the cauliflower chicken Alfredo three times this week as made a batch then wasn't sure if it would freeze. It's much creamier and cheesier than what I would normally eat although really tasty.

I bought a celeriac yesterday so making shepherds pie today.

Wishing everyone a good weekend.

8Track · 18/07/2020 11:02

@Choux A celeriac is always an excellent purchase! I echo your weekend wishes back to all.

Waking up (gosh, doesn't gin absolutely hammer home!) slowly, but delighted that I've had a 1kg whoosh, and 4.5cm off my hips and another 2cm off the waist. Feeling good! (Other than the hangover!)

Hopeislost · 18/07/2020 11:29

Scales are showing another 2lb off this morning, will be happy if that continues til Monday but AF has made an appearance so we'll see!

I know some people have found TOTM harder on this woe, but I don't seem to get as bloated as I used to. Maybe it's all the water?

Takingontheworld · 18/07/2020 15:01

Amazingly, my wee spiral on Wednesday night doesn't seem to have shown up.... weigh in today says im back to what i was last Saturday before o drank wine and had a slice of cake. I'm irritated as hell that a whole week has been "lost" over it, but just grateful. It actually says 2ounces lower. Though i refuse to start getting into ounces 😂

I've just been to next for Jeans and decided to buy 16s instead of 18s. They fit. Like little snug but wearable.

They are stretchy tho... not sure if it counts. Though they're basically the same pair of jeans as i own now in an 18 so perhaps stretchyness aside its all relative.

Bit nervous for staying on track on monday /tues as im gonna be out for long days filming but will do my best.

cad186 · 18/07/2020 16:17

Had a 'wrap' earlier, the wrap was made with fried grated mozzarrella cheese (cant remember if it was on here I saw the idea) and I filled it with tuna mayo and salad, very nice!

Mimosa1 · 18/07/2020 20:33

Survived the bday party! Sausages were a but carby and some of the fruit wasn't perfect but I only had one glass of champagne and no other booze and managed to steer clear of the cake and crisps. Hope everyone's having a great weekend and congrats to the PP on the new jeansSmile

Laska2Meryls · 19/07/2020 08:57

Cad the mozzarella wrap idea sounds good , how do you make it?
I am stubbornly still a 1.5lbs up.. Not happy . So for my last two 'official' weeks on 5his bootcamp ( but I shall be carrying on) I plan to go back to strict bootcamp rules.. no berries and definitely no weekend wine )

8Track · 19/07/2020 10:29

Schweinshaxe (roasted pork knuckle with crispy skin) for dinner tonight as it's somewhat dreary, weather wise. With mashed celeriac and I fancy sauerkraut so am going to see if I can find a low carb one in the Polish corner shop.

Just spent a pleasant hour loading up my online shopping basket - full of BC foods! It turned into one of those replenish the cupboards - spices, stock cubes, kitchen roll and cost twice as much as normal! Oh well, restocked now. I think I'm still a bit wary of running out of things as I dont just have the 'pop to the shops' opportunity any more.

NSV - zoom called my rather critical mother, who unprompted told me I look really well!

Pleasant Sunday wishes to you all. And well done @Mimosa1on swerving the carbiness!

BIWI · 19/07/2020 10:57

For any of you who live in Greater London postcodes and BN, GU, RH, SL, TN, BR postcodes, I can really recommend this company to deliver meat/fish

They normally supply restaurants but in Covid days are delivering to private households. If you order £50 you get free delivery.

For just less than £75 I bought:

  • belly pork (piece so big I had to cut it into three - each big enough for 2 people)
  • 4 sirloin steaks
  • 6 confit duck legs (so enough for 3 meals for 2 people)
  • 4 cod fillets

We had one of the pieces of belly pork last night and it was absolutely gorgeous.

It was a friend who recommended it to us, and there's a friend referral scheme, so I also got £10 off my first order.

It's a fair bit of money to shell out up front, but the quality of it is amazing.
