Hey @Jiminny don't be so impatient!

I'm guessing that you're impatient generally about your weight loss, given that you've also tried a VLCD?

First, you need to slow down. You didn't put the weight on over night, so it will take time to lose.

I didn't reply immediately because I'm working, so you'll have to forgive me for that.

Second, the medications you're on may well impede weight loss. I'm afraid I don't know the specifics, not being a medic, but it's highly likely. Another reason you will have to be patient!

And third, apart from the artificial sweeteners, you do seem to be eating a lot of cheese and dairy - so I'd give these a swerve for a while and see what happens. Drop the milk in your tea/coffee too.

How much fat (apart from cheese) are you eating? Are you frying in butter/using butter on your veg? Are you having oily dressings on your salad?

You also haven't answered me about the water - how much water are you drinking?

@Takingontheworld

Self sabotage. Convinced ill never change. Ate a cornetto just to prove myself right.

I am an idiot!!

Sorry, but yes you are!!!

Why did you do that? You knew you were going to do it, because you posted to me in advance.

Why do you have those in your freezer? Or, if you don't, why did you go and buy one?

Look - I can't lose the weight for you. I'd be a millionaire/billionaire if I could! So please don't go down the self-sabotage route. Apart from the weight gain it will only make you unhappy. As it will having me on your case

Jiminny · 15/07/2020 20:11

@BIWI um.... I wasn't being impatient. You'd asked me a ton of questions and I didn't want you to think I'd ignored you. I said this very clearly in my post.
The cod psychology of me being impatient is way off the mark.
Don't be so rude!

BIWI · 15/07/2020 20:46

I'm sorry @Jiminny Confused. I wasn't meaning to be rude, but I did feel that you were pressuring me to answer you. I'm pretty busy right now with work - I'm not part of MNHQ staff and do this in my own free time. So forgive me if I don't get to your post immediately. It felt like you were chasing me.

Not quite sure why you've deleted one of your posts? That had useful information in it, which I did answer in my last post to you.

It's always my ambition and intention to help everyone who posts here. I'm sorry if you feel I've fallen short in that regard.

OP posts:
BIWI · 15/07/2020 20:49

But, you know, actually you did on last week's thread as well. When you didn't get an answer from me as quickly as you wanted you chased me.

Sorry (again) if I was sharp in my reply, but it did feel as if you were expecting me to jump to it without regard to what I might be doing.

OP posts:
Jiminny · 15/07/2020 21:14

@BIWI I think the phrases 'no rush' and 'not pressuring you' were a clue- didn't need a fast answer, just didn't want it to be lost.
Of course I don't expect you to jump when I post, that's unfair. Anyway, I know you like your bossy 'shtick' but it can come across pretty crappy, I guess you don't realise that.

BIWI · 15/07/2020 21:28

Sorry @Jiminny - it's the assumption that I might somehow miss your post that's galling.

I read every single post here - along with every single PM I get. And I respond to all of them that ask me specifically for advice, along with a lot that don't.

It's insulting to say that I'm enjoying 'bossy shtick'. Everything I've posted to you has been to try and help you. If you don't want that help, then I don't know what else to say or do.

I can only apologise if the way I reply to you seems crappy. I'm just defending how I feel, about the way you have responded to me.

OP posts:
Jiminny · 15/07/2020 21:40

I'm not really interested in an argument, it's not worth it. You started you're post with 'don't be so impatient!!', when I was being perfectly polite. And then extrapolated from that speculating about my impatience with my weight loss. If you can't see the issue with that then no one is going to be able to explain it to you. The bossy thing is your 'thing' on here surely? I don't think it's controversial to say that- people joke about your stick etc. It's fine, some people seem to love it. Please rest assured I won't direct any further questions to you.

Mimosa1 · 15/07/2020 22:04

@nigella and Brassica who were talking about the weight loss chat, I have a relative who uses "you've lost weight!" as code for "you look nice today". It drives me insane. I'm not quite sure why, except that I don't like my body being a topic for discussion. Why she can't say "what a lovely dress" or whatever escapes me. I think it's great that you use compliments to deflect the conversation, it made me think of this Grin

BrassicaBabe · 15/07/2020 22:09

@Mimosa1 then of course there's the folks that tell you not to lose anymore as you'll look ill Hmm

8Track · 15/07/2020 22:18

Hope you've had a good day @Thing101 - I know exactly what you mean about the lockdown depression. It's been a struggle here too.

Somehow I've had the energy in the last couple of weeks to get back into cooking proper food and do feel a lot better for it. Hope it helps you as well. Certainly the satiety of the delicious fatty foods are helping more than the endless empty carb cycle I was in.

nowlook · 15/07/2020 22:24

@Jiminny are you also ElizabethHoneysuckle? That was a mad weekend.

I know I should ignore it, but I do think it's unfair on @BIWI,

The sense of entitlement is staggering. It's almost like some posters think they've paid a subscription.

Moving on.

I've been away for work for a couple of days. There was a curry. It was lovely. Didn't have the rice or naan. But not enough water or greens at all.

Back home now into next week!

Or Derbyshire WiFi
Take your pick

BrassicaBabe · 15/07/2020 22:41

Think I'm going to see the results of two solid evening meals on the scales tomorrow. Roast chicken last night. Lamb tonight. Both with broccoli. Both v tasty and think I ate too much. Can't get away with that at 47. Broccoli not buttered. Lamb and chicken not particularly fatty but definitely didn't avoid the fat/skin. Any chance my meals were too high in protein vs fat?! Definitely too high in overall calories that we aren't counting.

Back on no alcohol and sitting comfortably with that. Or maybe Sunday's hangover still lingers close byGrin

Not ignoring 2 of our number falling out. But I'm not good at dealing with conflict at the best of times Wink xx

Jiminny · 15/07/2020 23:04

@nowlook no I'm not Elisabeth Honeysuckle. 😂

I honestly don't have any sense of entitlement, whatsoever. Unless expecting people not to be rude to each other on here is entitled. Then it's a fair cop!

1WildTeaParty · 16/07/2020 00:27

You have asked for - and been given -quite a bit of personal attention on here Jiminny (and I expect that you have been grateful for the help and support from those you've directed your questions at?)

I can't see rudeness towards you, but a few of your own comments (about bossyness and 'your thing') come across in that way.

If you read all the posts in the various threads, you'll find much sound advice and you'll see that BIWI does not miss anyone out!

This WOE is really successful for most of us but it isn't forgiving if you try varying the rules, and we all know that there isn't really any point in anyone being 'fluffy' or 'don't worry hun' when we do.

A more direct response is much more effective . Honesty about weight-loss isn't always easy to find and we are grown-ups here- we can cope.

Mimosa1 · 16/07/2020 06:45

Omg the weeing! I'd forgotten what it's like in the early days of this woe. I've been up twice in the night. Fingers crossed this means a woosh this week...

Ragwort · 16/07/2020 09:01

Well done to everyone on some great results, this WOE does work, you just need to persevere and not cheat.

BIWI and others do a fantastic job supporting us all and some of the criticism is totally unfair and not at all in the spirit of Boot Camp.

I am not weighing regularly as my scales are useless, I used to pop into the surgery to weigh myself each week, obviously can't do that now but I have lost over a stone, sorted out my excessive drinking habit and dropped a dress size so I am delighted ... another stone and a half to go Grin.

Rshard · 16/07/2020 09:02

Oh yes mimosa! The constant toilet trips!

Thought long and hard about saying anything about the ‘discussion’ last night. I’m really grateful to have found this woe and appreciate all the effort and time that goes into it. The end.

Mimosa1 · 16/07/2020 09:05

Having just joined I feel shy about commenting too, @rshard, but I'm very grateful to @biwi and others for running BC.

Ifeelfat · 16/07/2020 09:16

nowlook tell me more about Elizabeth Honeysuckle - I’m intrigued

MrsKoala · 16/07/2020 10:39

I’m really grateful to BIWI and everyone who offers me advice and help on these threads. Personally I’m not a fan of the big stick chat. Rather than bossy to me I feels it’s a little childish (because I’m a sarcy serious cow mainly and that’s not my humour). I always get the impression it’s done in a camped up and tongue in cheek way, rather than meant to be genuinely authoritarian, after all its all virtual and we have to do it for ourselves, no one can make us.

I understand your frustration Jiminny, but I think you have been over sensitive to perceived criticism and come across as quite high maintenance.

Anyway back to food, last night I went out for dinner to a lovely seafood restaurant in Brighton and had a couple of selected breaks from the woe as an experiment (as I’m now maintaining). I had pre dinner nibbles of olives and a small slice of their homemade rye bread with mackerel pate, then lightly battered calamari with lemon mayo and a tomato salsa, then moules mariniere, and half a portion of tirimisu + 2 glasses very good white wine. I’d skipped lunch, so only had some sliced chicken and mayo and cucumber for breakfast. I am going IF 18hours now till 12.30pm and see what effect it has.
