Isn't it disappointing @BrassicaBabe when you decide to go off piste and it isn't worth it?! Grin

Sorry for absence. I have been into the office today, which was a very weird experience - travelling on the tram and then the train. Felt like a tourist in town and actually stood on the wrong side of the escalator! Confused

BTW - those Bare Naked Noodles @NumbsMet are fine, as long as you rinse them thorough, and then dry fry them for about 3-4 minutes.

I use them in stir-fries or sort-of laksa/Vietnamese-type soup dishes.

They are, however, very high in fibre, and can give some people digestive discomfort, so watch out for that.

BrassicaBabe · 16/07/2020 21:56

So is

NumbsMet · 16/07/2020 22:06

Thanks @BIWI ! Mr. Numbs is keen to try having a spag bol tomorrow with plenty of cheese grated over it and the noodles as spaghetti. If he likes it, I think his world will change as he knows it. He might even smile! Grin

They're not quite as good a substitute for spaghetti, but hopefully he'll enjoy them.

I hit my 1 stone lost this morning, hoping it sticks for Monday! So pleased, next mini goal is 2lbs to get me into the 10’s.

Happy Friday!

BIWI · 17/07/2020 07:48

What did Mr Numbs think @NumbsMet?

OP posts:
SulisMinerva · 17/07/2020 08:08

Well done, Rshard!

Haven’t tried the konjac noodles but I do have some Lo-Dough bases arriving soon. Thought they might be useful for times when I to share a dish with the rest of the family. Thinking I might use it as ‘pastry’ for sausage rolls this weekend.

It’s been a week for me since starting this WOE again and my stomach is noticeably less bloated. I’m more 6 months pregnant rather than 8. Grin

Laska2Meryls · 17/07/2020 09:13

I seem to have hit a little plateau this week scales bouncing around 11.10 - 11.12. I ys annoying but hopefully temporary..
I was really daft yesterday because being busy in the garden I neglected to actually eat until being in the afternoon sun picking up hedge trimmings I suddenly felt really faint and sick .. Stupid.. I wont do that again . I had been drink lots of water but just wasn't hungry at all..
However having recovered went on for stir-fry pork and prawn and veggies..
I thought that after that this morning I would weigh less but no! I was up to 11.12 again !Confused
Anyway I do not recommend that is a tactic.. Today I shall make sure that I have my eggs for breakfast !

8Track · 17/07/2020 09:18

Just popping in to say, woohoo it's Friday!!

B - avocado with mayo in the middle, coconut coffees
L - lettuce, mozzarella ball, cucumber spread with rillettes
D - bbqd crispy chicken thighs, bbqd broccoli, butter

Also a cup of hot marmite as I've got a lot of the dry mouth going on, and loads water. 9.5 pints yesterday - that's over 5 litres!!

BrassicaBabe · 17/07/2020 09:48

I think I'm ready to declare goal weight!! 9.10.8 last Friday. 9.10 flat on Monday. 9.10.2 today. This is my happy weight. It's surprising what a difference 3-4lbs makes. I definitely feel more comfortable at 9.10 than I do at 10 stone. Now I have to be a bit careful. If I drop a few more I start to look drawn. (Can't bloody win!)

But wow it's been a hard slog since January!

AND...I am currently sat in the hairdressers!!! It is indeed a good and momentous day!! 🥳🥳

devoncreamtea · 17/07/2020 09:50

Hi everyone
How were the noodles? Verdict gross or good?!

I’m off today to meet family camping. Won’t be weighing in on Monday as in a field (!!) but will be back the next week. KOKO everyone Flowers

devoncreamtea · 17/07/2020 09:53

Yay Brassica well done! 🥳

Laska2Meryls · 17/07/2020 10:00

Jumping back in to talk Konjac noodles. (Also avoiding talking about what I've been eating this weekSad)

There's a lot of interesting behavioural science research around how people's perceptions of how something is going to taste will have a huge affect on how they actually respond to something. Examples include the fact that writing low-fat or low-carb on a packet makes people expect the product will taste less good. This then results in them giving a lower taste rating to the low whatever item than a completely identical product in different packaging. Their expectations translate into reality.

Konjac noodles are an example. You assume they'll be disappointing, so they are.

From reading about them on here in the past I expected them to stink, so I always open the packet into a sieve under running water. That means I've never even noticed a smell. Similarly I don't complain about chickpea can water or sniff bean can juice and worry about it smelling gross...I just don't think about it.

I think they do a great job of allowing 'normality' into this woe. I can have macaroni cheese or noodle stir fry or my favourite pasta recipe...and I don't have to worry about it. As a veggie, that's really helpful.

For those of you within striking distance of a home and bargain (home bargains if you must - but that's a whole other conversation), they are only 99p in there at the mo.

Hopeislost · 17/07/2020 10:27

Well done @BrassicaBabe !

I like the konjac rice which I have occasionally with a Thai or Indian curry. It doesn't really taste of anything, although once it's covered in curry you wouldn't know! I can't have cauliflower rice as it's too high-FODMAP for me and sets off my IBS.

ShagMeRiggins · 17/07/2020 11:07

Sigh.

Burnshersmurfs · 17/07/2020 12:02

I've hit the 10kg off goal this morning, after a long stall. I'll probably blip back up, as last night was my leaving do at work and I drank a fair bit of wine- but I'm taking it anyway.
Now under 10.5 stone- which is fine, but not goals. I think I'll keep going until I hit 62kg and try again to hold it there.
Sorry for all the metric/imperial hop-skipping btw.

Takingontheworld · 17/07/2020 12:53

I'm trying to increase to 2 meals again but its going against my actual hunger signals. I
Honestly don't know what my body wants/needs!!

Mimosa1 · 17/07/2020 13:46

Congratulations @BrassicaBabe and @burnersmurf - that's fantastic! I'm going out to meet someone on my first socially distanced walk for a while. It's nice to get outdoors.

Food today:

Egg, vitalife toast, butter and fryers - B
Chicken and mayo - L

I've discussed that Chilango do a delicious low card Mexican salad box available on Deliveroo. I had it last night and really enjoyed it.

NumbsMet · 17/07/2020 17:54

Noodles update!

Mr. Numbs absolutely adored his spag bol. It's the first one he's had since starting this woe so for him, the different texture of the noodles to normal pasta was a reasonable trade off.

I didn't want a spag bol, so I had a ramen soup thingy. I boiled water with stock cubes, added chilli flakes, a spring onion and some coriander, some sesame seeds and various appropriate spices, then stirred the pan fried noodles into the broth. I am. So. Happy. I will be doing this a couple of times a week.

All in all, extremely happy with my new find!

BrassicaBabe · 17/07/2020 18:02

I'm nothing if not easily led Numbs. GrinAdded those noodles to my basket for next weeks shop. Will give them another go. (Im about a week into my other BC purchase of face creams Grin)
