All with losses between 3 and 5+pounds!

Come and talk to us on the thread about how you're managing and what your strategies have been Flowers

Hi all
I forgot to weigh this morning 🤣
So will do tomorrow. So impressed by the great losses - well done Flowers and as others have said taking - so glad your period has stopped! Sounds like a really tough bit you are going through. Brew

Knackered today. Going away next week with family. Bit worried about food as we are sharing cooking. Not so worried about things like bread Or cake as that’s pretty obvious to spot 😂- more about pulses and roots - as they are often key components of sharing dishes. Will do my best!

Mummyoflittledragon · 13/07/2020 17:42

Hi I’m back after a couple of weeks of struggling. Lots of pain and fatigue - homeschooling really getting me down and I reached a tipping point, where I couldn’t look after myself properly. Ergo unable to cook the correct food etc.

Just a smidge under a pound up from 2 weeks ago. I also weighed bang on the same last Monday but didn’t record my score.

Now I’ve just got to get through the summer holidays. 😩

nowlook · 13/07/2020 17:43

@devoncreamtea
My in-law's dishes are all based upon mince, garlic, onions and tomatoes. Dial 1 for bolognese; dial 2 for chilli; dial 3 for moussaka; dial 4 for cottage pie (which of course will be called shepherd's pie); dial 5 for lasagne

I should be pleased. Was it @MrsKoala who spoke of her mother's 70s cooking? Mine's was more 80s. Everything came to the table shaped like a log (beef wellington; chocolate roulade, anyone?)

Without giving any identifying information about you, I'm not wholly surprised your body's fighting back. Let's look at the evidence:

  • You run one successful business during the day;
  • You also have a separate business which often involves you working nights in an emotionally-charged environment;
-You are setting up a further venture (you were obviously conscious that you had a couple of hours to kill at the weekend Wink) -Your support at home has been established as occasionally sub-optimal.

You're doing all of that and managing this woe. Personally I think you're bloody amazing.

I'd be looking for someone hovering around with a novelty cheque, a medal and an honoury doctorate if I did half that.[/quote]
😘

You can see why I've had many failed attempts at weightloss since I added kids into the mix too!!

I saw someone talk about taking pictures/measurements before starting upthread/in old thread and laughed at all the numerous ones I've taken.

I've basically just got a slide show of me getting fatter over the past 10 years 😂

I will make it into the next stone bracket, won't I? I wanna storm those school gates looking hot as hell 8 weeks from now 😂

nowlook · 13/07/2020 17:45

(only for adult dinner parties, obviously- I was eating chick sticks and micro chips because we were sophisticated and had a microwave which was larger than the oven)

devoncreamtea · 13/07/2020 18:18

🤣 nowlook I remember my mum serving avocado hot!

Rshard · 13/07/2020 18:30

You see I’m a little jealous of the 80’s cooking from mums. My dm was and is, by her own admission a terrible cook. Dh’s mum introduced me to so many foods and cooking generally.

Takingontheworld · 13/07/2020 18:56

I have a tub of ricotta. What if anything can i make with it?

Hopeislost · 13/07/2020 19:38

@nowlook Every month or so I buy a bag of limes, cut into wedges and pop in the freezer for putting in drinks. Frozen blackberries are also very nice added to tonic water and gin!

venusandmars · 13/07/2020 19:59

I've got family coming at the weekend and I need a lunch that is vegetarian, lactose free so no cream or cheese, kid-friendly so not very spicy, and of course lchf... Any good ideas?

BIWI · 13/07/2020 20:12

How about a whole load of salads, cold meats and antipasti? Crusty bread for those that want it.

OP posts:
nowlook · 13/07/2020 20:12

God almighty @venusandmars
You don't want much, do you?
It's feeling Mexican?

BIWI · 13/07/2020 20:13

Or, a lovely big roast chicken, served with roasted vegetables?

OP posts:
nowlook · 13/07/2020 20:14

Or omelette x8 Grin

nowlook · 13/07/2020 20:15

@BIWI
Not sure vegetarians are into the roast chicken...

BIWI · 13/07/2020 20:16

Oh God, sorry - I missed the vegetarian amongst all the other requirements!!!

OP posts:
venusandmars · 13/07/2020 20:20

Ooh, mexican sounds good. Fajitas / nachos / beans for those that want carbs, cheese and sour cream for the lactose consumers, some chicken for me and dh, sweetcorn for dgc, avocado / guacamole for everyone. Thank you.

nowlook · 13/07/2020 20:55

@BIWI

I only noticed because my initial reaction was : chicken, baked spuds and salad. Where's the fire? 🤣

I have a delivery coming from Gary Usher's Elite Bistros on Friday ready for a Saturday dinner party. Bacon belly followed by featherblade beef Star

Wormthatturned · 13/07/2020 22:00

Well done all you fabulous people who are doing so well! No weigh-in for me today as I've sneaked off to the seaside and 'consciously uncoupled' from you for a few days - it became very apparent that the situation here was incompatible with bootcamp without making myself a total nuisance and ruining everyone's holiday. I'm just going for moderation in all things and I'll check in when I get back to and let you know the damage.

venusandmars · 13/07/2020 22:21

nowlook and BIWI it's just as well I haven't also invited SIL with a nut allergy and my best friend who "doesn't eat vegetables" Grin

BIWI · 13/07/2020 22:22

That would definitely be a 'bring your own' occasion! Grin

AWryGiraffe · 13/07/2020 22:37

Hello, I'm joining for motivation! I lost a fair bit on low carb a while back, but fell out of the way of eating when pregnant and now with a 17 month old feeling decidedly chunky and need to get back in the habit. I'm about 12.5 stone now (weighed myself today for the first time since before being pregnant) and I want to get to 10.5 stone (eventually!). Shopping arrives tomorrow, meal planning done, just need to stick to it - I'm a veggie, other half and baby aren't, and they aren't low carbing either so meal planning is key I feel!

lurknolinger · 13/07/2020 23:40

@nowlook I've meet Vodka but prefer his friend Gin 😃 but agree neither of them are as harsh as wine.

I don't like Vodka lime and soda, but like Gin, and therein lies the problem, I like it and definitely need to learn to moderate better and watch out for my lack of self discipline after a couple of drinks.
Not sure it will work to try drinking something I don't actually like, but might be worth a go.

Can't remember who it was but someone earlier said they thought it takes a long time to change your relationship with alcohol. . Wise words indeed - just like it takes time to address eating habits I guess, but being on this thread definitely helps me to be more mindful about my choices both good and bad ones.

Jiminny · 14/07/2020 06:43

Well yesterday I cut out all artificial sweeteners for possibly the first time in my adult life. I was exhausted, but probably coz that meant I also cut out a helluva lot of caffeine in doing so. I also drank 4 litres of water (4!). If after a week I still don't see any change on the scales I might switch to a different kind of woe.

BIWI · 14/07/2020 08:15

@Jiminny

I asked you on the last thread to tell me what you were eating and you only gave me one day's menu - as I said then, it's difficult to advise more without knowing more!

Please can you tell me what you've eaten for the last 3 or 4 days, including all snacks and drinks as this will give us a better idea if there's something obvious going on.

Also, what were you eating before you joined Bootcamp? And are you a yoyo/serial dieter?

Do you have any medical conditions or are you on any long-term medication, e.g. for pain relief or hypertension or diabetes? (or anything else!)

And don't forget, as @StuntNun said, it's not just about the scales - take your measurements as well. The other thing you can do to measure progress is to find an item of clothing that's just a little too tight, and try that on once a week.
