Morning peeps!

Sorry for the late start but had to deal with builders/deliveries etc first thing.

So we have reached the final week. Here's the SoF for its penultimate outing

Hopefully it's a good result (well done @MrsBertBibby!) and hopefully we can pick up/get back the motivation for one last week, before our final weigh-in next Monday.

I was at my niece's hen do on Saturday, which started off with the most fabulous afternoon tea (Betty's in York) so it was a complete and utter carb fest all day after that!). But I have three weeks before the actual wedding, so will be back on it with a vengeance as I have to buy A Dress Confused

Good luck everyone Flowers

Thanks mrsbert, 10 minutes it is - just the thought of wibblyness makes me nauseous.

The taper back into the woe is interesting prettybird, and I’ve made those chicken nuggets many time, they’re good!

Notlostjustexploring · 19/07/2019 09:56

The other way (for eggs mollet from a recipe, I think by Wozza) is to lower eggs into already boiling water, boil for exactly 6 minutes, cool immediately in cold water and peel. The white is set and the yolk is still soft but not runny (it was from a recipe for a new potato and Niçoise salad with halved eggs).

This is exactly how I do boiled eggs. I think it was a previous bootcamp I'd learned out dousing the eggs in cold water before peeling. Genius tip, and it stops my toddler learning phrases like, "bugger, bugger, owwww, ah ya fucker" as I try to peel red hot eggs.

I love the bootcamp threads for all the food tips. Mashed swede in the microwave is another revelation that I've embraced recently!

You are my people RShard.

prettybird · 19/07/2019 11:44

Brassicababe - much as I love scrambled eggs, I agree that too many of them would make me overload on eggs, as they are more "eggy" (especially the way I cook them, which is slowly and gently). And on reflection, that might be why I started to add Boursin or strong cheddar to my nightly omelette Wink

prettybird · 19/07/2019 12:00

It's a testament to the fact that this is truly an enjoyable Way of Eating - and a sustainable one at that - that we also talk so much about yummy food that we can eat and take pleasure in sharing recipes, techniques and ideas Grin

I don't imagine there is quite the same enthusiasm for sharing rabbit food ideas Wink

Summery1 · 19/07/2019 14:01

Just reading for motivation.
B: scrambled eggs with cheese.

Hi everyone.

I've asked DH to bring the bathroom scales. Tomorrow will be .... scarey!

Rshard · 19/07/2019 14:03

mrsbert

Thanks for all the egg boiling advice - I am a reasonable cook, promise!

You’re so right prettybird about the food chat, just wouldn’t be the same on any other woe!

Notlostjustexploring · 19/07/2019 15:11

A further tip for pimping up scrambled eggs - onion salt. Especially in cheese scrambled eggs. Lifts it really nicely.

Good luck to those doing an egg fast!! Much success wished your way!

I'm crawling back into the threads. I've just 🐝 rubbish at bootcamp this time around. I want to say I probably shouldn't have signed up for this one as my head just wasn't in the game. However, what it has allowed me to do is to make sure I've returned to my end weight from January's. So I'm calling that a win of sorts. There is a twist in the tail though. I've been having a series of blood tests checking liver function and recently had an ultrasound on my liver. Turns out I have a fatty liver. I'm only 32. That's the sweet tooth finally catching up on me. I quite like that GP. He managed to tell me that it is caused by excess fat etc, without saying I was far, but saying I need to lose weight. He's also signed me up to the practice weight loss group. Although, get this. It's a low carb weight loss group!!

Anyway, it's put the wind right up me. Clearly I struggle to lose weight when it is for vanity. Now it's health reasons I feel a bit differently. I was in a garden centre with beautiful cakes and all I could think was "you look like future liver disease". I don't feel all newly committed or anything. I've just accepted it's bye bye sugar now.

BrassicaBabe · 19/07/2019 15:20

Ooh onion salt. That's quite a revelation. Thanks!

Thanks for the chicken nugget recipe pretty.

Seems I'm not the only one who's struggled this BC. But hey like running, we've made it further than the folks who've not done anything!

VeryLittleOwl · 19/07/2019 16:31

Got my 1lb off, if it's still gone by Monday then I get to record a stone off for bootcamp :) I have therefore told DH he's only getting himself a curry tonight and could he please pick me up some tenderstem broccoli and asparagus from Tesco, which I'm going to have with scrambled eggs, pesto and a bit of chicken (I know, sounds a weird combo, works surprisingly well!)

ShagMeRiggins · 19/07/2019 16:33

I don't imagine there is quite the same enthusiasm for sharing rabbit food ideas

“And sometimes, Barbara, I even put salt on the celery stick!”

Rshard · 19/07/2019 17:07

Never heard of onion salt! I will try though.

Blimey notlost, that must have been hard to hear! I’m impressed and surprised that the weight loss group at your surgery is a low carb one. With that and us you’ll be sorting that liver out, it’s the most forgiving organ isn’t it? Flowers

Notlostjustexploring · 19/07/2019 19:38

Rshard strangely not hard to hear. Probably quite useful in fact. I've always known in an academic sense that my lifestyle could be better, this has made it a bit more real.

Thankfully there is nothing actually wrong yet, but it is very much a harbinger of things to come if I don't change my ways. If I lose weight it'll be like it never happened. I think.

I'll do a bootcamp Vs doctor's low carb group compare and contrast. It'll be interesting.

I also kicked my husband into gear, literally. His waist span is definitely no longer safe, so he'll be going out on his long neglected bike this week.

Notlostjustexploring · 19/07/2019 19:39

So needless to say that I will be doing the between bootcamps bootcamp!!

prettybird · 19/07/2019 19:55

Notlost - to reach my Christmas target, I need to continue to lose 1lb a week Shock, so I'll be continuing to Boot Camp for the rest of the year (with the occasional egg fast Wink).

venusandmars · 19/07/2019 22:53

Good for you, and your attitude notlost

I was kicked into action by catastrophically high blood pressure. And this woe has been the thing that made the difference between taking a fistful of drugs, and now taking none.

Sadly, my GP is unenlightened. The diet advice was grains, veg, protein, low fat. And when I went back on minimal meds, 2 stone lighter and a normal BP he was not in the least interested in how I'd achieved it.

Never mind. It works for me. And I've got 2 friends with me. One has lost 8 pounds in 8 days!

starsky22 · 19/07/2019 23:16

Finally caught up on the last thread and seen iwanapizza progress dress - you are looking amazing, can see such a difference!

Now to catch up on this thread. In the meantime, quick log of my food today:
B piece of cheese about 10.30am, not really hungry
L goats cheese salad with olive oil
D Went to Cote - had half grilled chicken with mushroom cream sauce and replaced the frites with green beans, was delicious! Stuck to water.
Was thinking about have some dark chocolate tonight, but had water instead!

WATER WATER WATER!

8Track · 19/07/2019 23:53

Aww thanks for all your lovely newbie welcomes.

I've a little notepad filling up with yummy food ideas before I start on the 29th.

I've done a little low carbing before, with the India & Neris IPD but I've lost the book along the way. Plus gained a serious (like CAMRA serious!) beer taste. None for a while!

If a between-bootcamps-camp-thread goes on I'd love to chip in; it sounds as though there's a few of us. Maybe we need a scary meemee (I'm so down wit da kidz) to post to remind us of BIWI's big stick when deserved!

ShagMeRiggins · 20/07/2019 00:07

WATER WATER WATER!

Almahart · 20/07/2019 05:47

I had a little food notebook when I first started too 8track*. The recipe book that went with the India Knight book is good. Also a lot of Nigel Slater is quite adaptable for BC

My top tip is don’t forget fish! Makes this woe far more varied

Rayna37 · 20/07/2019 08:23

8Track good to have another beer lover on board. I'm off to a beer festival today so final weigh in not looking good!

Planning an egg fast Sun/Mon/Tues, not sure how rigid yet but I think worth a go.

Alma I'm trying to really increase fish and had two great meals this week, going to aim for 3 dinners per week and at very least two.

About 4lbs away from target currently. Bad impromptu lunch out yesterday though I suppose no dessert so credit for that?!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 20/07/2019 13:25

NSV: haven't seen my MIL since half term. She arrived this morning and told me I look "awful skinny" and "need feeding up." Grin

prettybird · 20/07/2019 13:42

Grin Greebols

I presume you just smiled and nodded and ignored Wink

I've maintained at 12 stone 4lb Smile. Working really hard not to get back into the habit of snacking even if they're HFLC snacks Blush I've just boiled 4 eggs: 2 to eat just now, soft boiled (with butter) and 2 left in the water to have tomorrow as hard boiled eggs.

Leftover courgette cheesy lasagne tonight. I'll pick some green salad leaves and nasturtium flowers to make a salad alongside it.

Summery1 · 20/07/2019 14:41

I weighed this morning. Up ³/4 of a lb. I have to say I was quite relieved. I'm on holidays with the children (school holidays start here end of June). We are at the seaside, with no routine. I'm doing a lot of exercise (60k cycle this morning). Doing that very low carb is hard (but not impossible Blush). I notice I can really cycle hard with a little carb on board. So I had a smallish portion of pasta last night, I threw the uneaten doughnuts in the bin.

B: 2 scrambled eggs
Snack: scone with butter and tea with milk. (Coffee shop size portion Confused)
L: cheese, 1 hardboiled egg, pickled cucumber, cabbage fried in butter.

All you posters are keeping me on board, thank you. I hope by Monday that gain is gone.

Notlostjustexploring · 20/07/2019 16:30

I feel the need to share a new veg discovery. Boiled broccoli with cream cheese and pesto stirred through. Twas awesome!!
