Morning peeps!

Sorry for the late start but had to deal with builders/deliveries etc first thing.

So we have reached the final week. Here's the SoF for its penultimate outing

Hopefully it's a good result (well done @MrsBertBibby!) and hopefully we can pick up/get back the motivation for one last week, before our final weigh-in next Monday.

I was at my niece's hen do on Saturday, which started off with the most fabulous afternoon tea (Betty's in York) so it was a complete and utter carb fest all day after that!). But I have three weeks before the actual wedding, so will be back on it with a vengeance as I have to buy A Dress Confused

Good luck everyone Flowers

Hi n00bs!

chunk Oi! D'you mind?! Grin

It is my birthday next week. Last year, my Bootcamp was rudely brought to an end by this astonishing distraction
. I am hoping any cakes this year will be a little less gigantic!

ShagMeRiggins · 18/07/2019 19:00

That’s Some Cake, Bert (said in Babe! style, ie, that’s Some Pig—or have I confused this with Charlotte’s fucking Web?)

Either way, an early best wishes to you for your birthday.

MrsBertBibby · 18/07/2019 19:04

It was indeed one hell of a cake! My other half ordered it just before I started low carbing, poor man! He was a bit dismayed! A former colleague made it, and he had a hell of a trek to get it home!

ShagMeRiggins · 18/07/2019 19:18

The “Family Court Practical” made me smile. Desperately hoping it was an actual book rather than your former colleague having to have recreated it, Bert.

VeryLittleOwl · 18/07/2019 19:31

Congrats, almaheart!

Bert that's a cake and a half!

And I'm others. You've inspired me by being so fucking painfully honest.

I'm having a seriously stressful time at work at the moment (all will pass, just a final exams situation) and all the self medicating, rewarding, hiding myself behaviours have come back. I've been lurking so obviously it's been been a bit if a subconscious need to do something but it clicked today, I binge read threads 9 and 10.

I've got a week of hell then celebrations planned but after that I'm DOING IT. Whoever said it was the only bit of me someone didn't control is true. But chugging back the booze as escapism is not the way for me to get control, I have control and can escape through the bloody wonderful world i live in, enjoy my foods and get rid of this unhealthy weight. And this time, I've a fabulous partner who wants in as well.

MrsBertBibby · 18/07/2019 20:25

Welcome 8 Track!

Just make sure you have cornered the celeriac market in your area.

Youwanapizzame · 18/07/2019 20:39

Welcome to all newbies! Great to see you guys! I'm hoping well have a few threads to bimble along on until we hit the next bootcamp . Hope that you'll keep me company as I've done well but still have a long way to go! However this DOES work and it doesn't feel depressing or depriving or starving to me. So you'll do great.

Well done @almahart that's brilliant

BrassicaBabe · 18/07/2019 22:19

Delurking after @8Track 's post. Me too. Long-ish term boot camper here. But struggling heaps in 2019. Most of this year I've been tracking about half a stone above the same time last year. I've been eating well but sabotaging with too much wine. Low carb or not but I'm sure not many people lose weight with 400-600 empty extra calories each day.

Last week after reading your posts I tried an egg fast but cheated with LC snacks and wine on two evenings Hmm

This week I've egg fasted within the rules and I've managed to shift several hard stuck lbs. (fecking gagging for wine this evening though!)

I'll egg fast for 2 meals tomorrow and something LC normal in the evening. I've got Saturday with large family gathering to navigate though before I can claim the loss!!

Welcome newbies!

venusandmars · 18/07/2019 22:53

@MrsBertBibby I've got a birthday next week too - fortunately no-one will bake me a cake Smile

MrsBertBibby · 18/07/2019 23:11

Happy birthday Venus! I am having a few days off BC ( will try not to go too mad). I am looking forward to at least a little cake.

tea69 · 18/07/2019 23:23

Welcome @flowerpower18, let's do this together 😊

tea69 · 18/07/2019 23:23

@MrsBertBibby that cake looks epic!!

prettybird · 18/07/2019 23:29

I've managed 5lb off with the egg fast Smile - down to 12st 4lb. Grin

Now onto the taper from the egg fast: 4 eggs today and then my mum's cheesy lasagne, using home grown courgettes in my 1/3 (with pasta sheets for dh, ds and a friend I'd invited over) washed down with a glass of wine WineBlush and a home-grown green salad (including nasturtium flowers), followed by strawberries and cream (while dh, friend and ds had meringues too - the strawberries and meringues had been brought by our friend).

Tomorrow I'll have 3 eggs (once I've gone and bought some more: bought 12 yesterday and have 1, one , left Shock), and then either left over lasagne (my end of the dish Grin) or home made chicken nuggets with left over salad.

Almahart · 19/07/2019 05:30

Wow prettybird that’s amazing!

18pages sorry you’re feeling stuck. Have you measured yourself? Reducing portion sizes makes a difference. I would think a whoosh is round the corner, in my experience this diet is rarely linear

Welcome 8track I completely relate to what you are saying

Not a good evening - went straight from work to book group and then onto music in the park - tons of wine and instead of eating the rollitos I had, I ate a baguette and blue cheese and crisps. Three pounds up this morning but I know that will be bread related and I’m still on for an egg fast next week

Rshard · 19/07/2019 07:13

Welcome flower

Amazing cake mrsbert

I did so well while out for dd’s birthday and then had a pudding. I wanted it, enjoyed it but that’s done now. Don’t feel it’s triggered me into a massive carb slide. Haven’t weighed myself tho!

Today’s a new day! I’m really fancying an egg fast, 5lbs is amazing prettybird! I’ll have a read back as I think you mentioned your plan earlier in the thread?

BrassicaBabe · 19/07/2019 08:25

4lbs off eggs fast since Monday for me. But probably a more honest 2lb off since this time last Friday as the weekend 2lb doesn't really count!

Having read your comments about Boursin I nearly fell foul. Co-op didn't have Boursin so I nearly bought roulade. It was 5g carb per 100g. So I swerved that.

Last time I tried an egg fast I failed miserably. I was doing scrambled egg and omelette. For some reason I literally couldn't stomach it. This time I've stuck to boiled eggs (hot/cold, soft/hard) and it's been easy. I've generally had mayo on the side instead of butter but it's been pretty easy to stomach

BrassicaBabe · 19/07/2019 08:27

Got a recipe for those chicken nuggets pretty?

Rshard · 19/07/2019 08:30

Thinking about the egg fast, not sure I’ve ever boiled an egg - how long for a state where I could mash with something?

MrsBertBibby · 19/07/2019 08:34

9 minutes if you put them in when the water is boiling. 10 if you really can't face any wibblyness.

MrsBertBibby · 19/07/2019 08:35

12 st 4 this morning. Neck and neck, prettybird!

prettybird · 19/07/2019 08:36

I'll no doubt rebound a bit - but hopefully the taper that Stuntnun advised although I'm sure that didn't include wine Blush will minimise that Grin

Started last Friday: 6 eggs a day, with lots of butter, the odd bit of cheese and lots of water for 3 days; 4 eggs (and butter) on Monday and a lamb kebab, tzatziki and green salad; back to 6 eggs/day on Tuesday and Wednesday; and then 4 eggs yesterday and cheesy courgette lasagne, green salad, wine and strawberries and cream last night. 3 eggs today (once I've bought some more Grin) and then some home made chicken nuggets tonight and left over green salad.

The main thing that the egg fast does for me is stop my habit of snacking. It really is just habit as the egg fast proves it's not due to hunger. Hmm

starsky22 · 19/07/2019 08:39

Hey all, still need to catch up on the threads, but I've finally found some motivation and am back on track. I've been rubbish this bootcamp but going to drag my sorry ass over the finish line!

Lost 3lbs so far this week. I'm going on holiday in 3 weeks, and would like to lose another 9lbs, so 3lbs a week, I think its possible, if I bloody stick to it!

Looks like there are a few others continuing after Monday which is great as I'll need the accountability!

I had gotten fed up with low carb meals, but yesterday I had some lovely food and really don't know what i was moaning about!

Yesterdays food:
B chicken tikka & iced latte
L chicken wrapped in bacon, celeriac mash & leeks
D roast beef, roast celeriac & spinach

prettybird · 19/07/2019 08:49

The chicken nugget coating is simply lots of grated Parmesan, some ground almonds and some flaxseed or the Linwood Q10 mix, generous amount of salt, some pepper and a wee bit of dry mustard all mixed together.

Beat an egg in a decent sized bowl and then mix all the chicken pieces in the egg, to make sure they're all coated. Dip each piece in the dry mix and then put on a roasting tray.

I could and probably should fry them but as I'm usually doing 4 cut up breasts (for dh and ds to share), I just oven bake them. I therefore need to make sure I've had plenty of added fat elsewhere as it's a bit lean.

prettybird · 19/07/2019 08:59

Rshard - I boil my (room temperature) eggs from cold and then boil for 2 minutes 50s which results in 2 soft boiled eggs and 2 (left in the cooling water) semi-hard boiled eggs to have cold later.

If you wanted them slightly firmer to mash, I'd do it for 3 minutes.

The other way (for eggs mollet from a recipe, I think by Wozza) is to lower eggs into already boiling water, boil for exactly 6 minutes, cool immediately in cold water and peel. The white is set and the yolk is still soft but not runny (it was from a recipe for a new potato and Niçoise salad with halved eggs).
