Morning peeps!

Sorry for the late start but had to deal with builders/deliveries etc first thing.

So we have reached the final week. Here's the SoF for its penultimate outing

Hopefully it's a good result (well done @MrsBertBibby!) and hopefully we can pick up/get back the motivation for one last week, before our final weigh-in next Monday.

I was at my niece's hen do on Saturday, which started off with the most fabulous afternoon tea (Betty's in York) so it was a complete and utter carb fest all day after that!). But I have three weeks before the actual wedding, so will be back on it with a vengeance as I have to buy A Dress Confused

Good luck everyone Flowers

I tried the roasted frozen green beans last night and they were great so thanks for that tip! So nice to be restocking the freezer, emptying it to defrost seemed to go on for months.
To add to the fridge freezer chat, I have an oddball tip. I have two fridges - one in the kitchen and one in the utilty. It used to pain me after buying the place that I had a pretty big kitchen but still nowhere for a big fancy American style fridge but I now realise the two fridge system is actual genius. Food in the kitchen - milk, cheese, salad veg, stuff for lunches, all fair game. Back fridge - extra milk and cheese, meat and veg specifically for a dinner. As DS gets older I suspect I will be glad to have this system to stop him hoovering up things that were destined for a specific meal (the same goes now for my DH!).

Rayna37 · 15/07/2019 12:43

B: 2 scrambled eggs
snack of nuts
L: salad of leftover roast chicken, cherry toms, cucumber, lettuce&spinach dressed with a combo of olive oil, caesar dressing AND mayo! The last few raspberries from the garden in greek yogurt.
D: trying to eat more fish (in place of so much meat), so trying something with frozen haddock and some roasted veg and pesto tonight.

Also I had a rare foray into Lidl yesterday and one thing to watch, their big "Greek Style" tubs were only 3.2g I think of carbs (and v good) whereas their yogurt which was supposed to be proper Greek had 25% cream in it and was about 4.5g carbs - so the opposite to normal in terms of which was lowest carb. Always read the label kids!

venusandmars · 15/07/2019 12:59

Rayna37 get a lock on that spare fridge. My friend once bought loads of frozen M&S nibbles, pre-Christmas, thinking it would be great for visitors over the holiday season. Christmas approaching she looked in the freezer to find.... NONE!

Her teenage sons had been coming home late at night with pals and instead of stopping off for chips or eating a pile of toast they'd found all these lovely things in the freezer, and you can imagine how many 'tasty wee morsels' a hungry group of teenage boys could eat Grin

BIWI · 15/07/2019 13:35

@18pagesfrontandback

The reason for two separate appliances is simple - it gives me more space!

While I love the look of American fridges, when you look at the space given over to frozen food, it's actually not that much. Add in an ice/water dispense and even more space is stolen away from it.

With a separate, 60cm wide freezer, I have so much more capacity. That said, we're going to hang on to the fridge freezer we had in our old shed and use it in the new shed, so that we have more back up capacity.

I'm also having a wine cooler in the new kitchen, which holds 16 bottles of wine, but it's really useful having a second place to store drinks.

I realise, with all the talk about alcohol, that sounds very dodgy Blush

Thanks for the new thread BIWI, week 9!

In awe of all the support available on this thread, and of some of the shit that you guys have dealt with - Flowers for you all.

alma, I’m hanging around after the end of
Bootcamp as we’re away on 22 August so I want to stay on track and hopefully lose a little more.

You were in NY I seem to remember, venus? That’s where we’re going, any tips? Sounds as though you did really well.

NigellaAwesome · 15/07/2019 17:05

Hello all, some great losses.

NSV - I've got into a pair of size 16 cropped jeans that haven't seen daylight for about 5 years.

SV - I'm down 31 pounds since mid May - 14.4kg. I have 3kg to go until my first main target.

Keep going everyone - dresses to buy, holidays to go on. We're off to France on Saturday.

18pagesfrontandback · 15/07/2019 18:19

Well done on all the NSV by the way. I got a bit side tracked and forgot to say but I have read them all and am feeling equal amounts of pleasure and envy at/for you all.

Chipping you made me laugh thinking about you sitting on your hands on the vegan threads with all the low fat chat Grin

Also BIWI - meant to say thanks about the peri wisdom. I do wonder what I’ll get, my aunt had been going through 11 years of hell (she’s only ten years older than me) and it’s scaring the life out of me. Mostly the night sweats and sleep disruption and I can see how much it has brought out her inner bitch affected her moods at times. Having said that, she is very much of the Rosemary Connelly 80’s low-fat high carb brigade and doesn’t eat much meat or dairy either. Or anything much really! I might recommend the menolieve to her. Think it might be too late to try convincing her about the benefits of dietary changes.

I have an under counter useless fecker of a fridge, plus a large chest freezer and a ‘spare’ winefridge in our outbuilding. We use the latter for milk/veg/meat overspill. I have been coveting a BIG proper sized fridge IN THE HOUSE and a freezer I don’t have to climb into to find stuff. Pure luxury Smile

MrsBertBibby · 15/07/2019 18:32

Oooh nsv here. I just migrated two lovely work shirts to my "current work" rack. Got them both in H&M in New York on my 40th celebration weekend. So pleased they are back!

Youwanapizzame · 15/07/2019 20:10

I have been having a case of the fuckits this weekend... I don't know why.... been 70% ok but there was a couple of rolls and a potato

I have made some keto friendly rolls and frozen them so I can grab when tbe need arises. I have also made breakfasts for the week and my lunch for tomorrow..

Going to go for it this week!!! Hurrah

You ladies are awesome. Don't you forget that!

Almahart · 16/07/2019 06:43

I’ve had a mini whoosh and lost a pound and a half overnight Smile

I was really hungry yesterday and ate the lunches I had taken in for two days in one

New meal discovery (for me), creamy lemony broccoli with roast pork and cracklings is pretty delicious

Nameusernameuser · 16/07/2019 06:52

Hi everyone, I am still around lurking! Didn't post much as went off track for DPs birthday, but just recovered from a sickness bug, which took that extra weight off. I'd rather have kept the extra lbs and not been unwell but that's life. I've lost 12lbs this bootcamp, wanted to lose a stone so have less than a week to shift 2lbs!

LaganBubbleCruises · 16/07/2019 07:10

Are we still talking fridges. We have a black glass door American fridge freezer which is like having a full length mirror in your kitchen. It can be very motivating for the diet or off putting depending on whether I put my glasses on but the fingerprints drive me insane . We also have back up freezer because the freezer sections are never big enough

MrsBertBibby · 16/07/2019 08:18

Good work Name

That sounds like my idea of hell, Lagan. My last house had those high gloss surfaces that looked crap 90% of the time. This kitchen is matt black which is better. We may redo the kitchen soon but I have no idea what surfaces I would like. Black seems so universal but I don't really like it.

Notwatchingtvtoday · 16/07/2019 08:53

Morning all, a big Flowers for us all. I know we have all said it but thank you again BIWI for running this. It has given me a real structure to my food and therefore a grounding to my day.

I’m up a 1lb this morning which I can only put down to not drinking enough water and not walking the dog myself yesterday ! Am just about to take him out.

So today
B Greek yogurt and a coffee
L eggs and salad
D 2 * M&S lamb koftas, green beans and salad

Plus any thing edible that I can pick at the allotment.... will let you know later 😀

VeryLittleOwl · 16/07/2019 11:01

Another big thank you and Flowers to BIWI from here. That pesky lb has vanished, if I can manage one more before Monday that'll be a stone gone over bootcamp.

And a picture says 1,000 words, so here's this morning's shorts shot - THEY BUTTONED UP!!!! Muffin top central, but I don't care!

Week 10 - Summer Low Carb Bootcamp - almost the end!
MrsBertBibby · 16/07/2019 11:11

Wow Owl!

BIWI · 16/07/2019 12:03

VeryLittleOwl Grin Grin Love your shorts pics updates. This month* the button, next month the zip!

Eggs consumed: 2

Just having a quick google to see how many million ways I can serve eggs, butter and cheese ready for my egg fast starting tmw. Can’t get my head around not eating anything else for 3 days but curious to see what it may or may not do for the scales.

I’ve been pathetically slow losing this BC, it’s laughable to think back to Sept last year, and where I had hoped to be by July this year. Big ambitions that have whimpered out into nothing more than a squeaky little fart Hmm
Still, I have maintained my losses, albeit with a slight seasonal blip lasting several months and am still very much onwards and downwards and will K O K O! It’s a marathon... etc

18pagesfrontandback · 16/07/2019 12:25

*I chose month rather than week to take the pressure off rather than thinking it will necessarily take that long Grin

BIWI · 16/07/2019 12:45

@18pagesfrontandback - scrambled eggs are really good, and even better with cheese added!

Cheese omelette

Hard boiled eggs mashed with Boursin, or simply mashed with butter

Some kind of devilled egg perhaps? Hard boiled egg, cut in half and remove the yoke, mash with butter and some curry powder/chilli powder

Baked eggs with grated parmesan on top

... as well as the usual poached or boiled eggs!

OP posts:
VeryLittleOwl · 16/07/2019 12:48

Thanks all, highly chuffed :)

Boursin is amazing. I now have a 2-a-week habit!

prettybird · 16/07/2019 13:13

I must be weird: got a few days I don't mind having 2 soft boiled eggs with butter for breakfast; 2 hard boiled eggs (left in the water to cool down when the others were boiled) with (Lo)salt & pepper for lunch and then 2 egg omelette with Boursin or grated cheddar for supper, with copious snacking of Issigny salted butter, day after day Wink. And lots of water Grin

I find the simplicity easy - especially as I am still cooking "normal" meals for dh and ds.

I had 4 eggs yesterday and then lamb kebabs (cooked on the braai) with home made tzatziki (using my first home grown cucumber of this year) and a (home grown) green salad with Parmesan and pine nuts, as a friend was supposed to coming for dinner (we offered to cook for him as he was getting home late from 10 days away - but as it was, he got back too late), but I'm doing another full day of egg fast today.

Flowers FlowersFlowers to all those going through problems. There have been times when dh and I have come close to separating (it was a major contributor factor as to why I got up to just about 15 stone Shock) but at the moment we're bumbling along ok. This WoE makes my mood much better, which helps Smile

Ninkaninus · 16/07/2019 14:25

Hey everyone

Flowers Flowers to all.

I’m just getting back to normal after more than a week of feeling under the weather with cold/sore throat. I can certainly tell that I’m getting older, it takes much longer for my body to bounce back these days...

Have finally taken a few pounds off. Now at 146lbs. I really could do with a burger and fries though...Brought my girls McDonald’s for dinner the other day but I stayed strong.

Hope you all have a lovely rest of your day and a good week.

Ninkaninus · 16/07/2019 14:29

Uh not quite! 148 lbs...

18pagesfrontandback · 16/07/2019 15:15

Hey Nink, well done on resisting the Mc’ds. And you just know the idea of it would have been better than the taste. Glad you’re feeling on the mend from your cold/sore throat, rotten things Flowers

I have never tried Boursin with eggs. Are you all just talking about mashing it in, or do you each do different stuff with it? Does it get mixed in the omelette mix or smeared/dollop on top?

Love a hard boiled egg with salt on. And ‘dippy eggs’. And egg mayo. Going to use my cheese and butter allowance to have one sliced on the other or make some cheese crisps. I think it’s the idea of getting bored rather than eggs in themselves that I’m sceptical about. Still, Prettybird seems fairly convincing in her continued commitment and adoration of them Grin
