Morning peeps!

Sorry for the late start but had to deal with builders/deliveries etc first thing.

So we have reached the final week. Here's the SoF for its penultimate outing

Hopefully it's a good result (well done @MrsBertBibby!) and hopefully we can pick up/get back the motivation for one last week, before our final weigh-in next Monday.

I was at my niece's hen do on Saturday, which started off with the most fabulous afternoon tea (Betty's in York) so it was a complete and utter carb fest all day after that!). But I have three weeks before the actual wedding, so will be back on it with a vengeance as I have to buy A Dress Confused

Good luck everyone Flowers

Am now singing ‘egg chat, egg chat’ to the tune of ‘backpack, backpack’ from Dora the explorer Hmm Now there’s an ear worm I don’t miss!

Could be worse, could be singing back fat, back fat...

I apologise to anybody who catches this... Confused

Almahart · 16/07/2019 16:24

I think I might have an egg fast in me but would be tricky to do this week for various reasons

prettybird · 16/07/2019 17:15

I dollop a few dollops of Boursin onto half of the omelette when it is half cooked. When it's finished, I fold the other half over onto the Boursin half and let it sit for a few seconds.

I do the same with grated cheddar - although it's surprising how much cheddar you need to notice it didn't use enough last time even though it was extra strong mature cheddar Confused

I choose my time carefully when doing an egg fast: I need to know that I don't have any social occasions during the "window", which makes it easier.

18pagesfrontandback · 16/07/2019 17:30

Yes that’s what I did Alma and Prettybird, waited for this week when I know I can fit three days in. Though that includes a Friday, otherwise known as curry/wine night But curry can wait til Saturday! Kind of wish I had started today as I’ve only had eggs/cheese to eat so far and I’d almost be through my first day Grin but bloody creamy coffees have buggered that option! Grrrr!

I’m having a veg blow out tonight in honour of 3 days of constipation. Kissing goodbye in style with a swede, celeriac, sprout, leek and chorizo bake - baked in cream mixed with chilli flakes and bit of paprika and covered with cheese. Sounds a bit weird but it’s so nice.

Not that I’m making a big deal out of this or anything Hmm Grin

*3 days of eggs only

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 16/07/2019 17:55

My DS turned 5 today. I'm afraid, BIWI, I have eaten a couple of slices of cake (as well as licking beaters and spoons throughout the process).

Was worth it though. Turns out numberblock 5 is delicious!

VeryLittleOwl · 16/07/2019 18:14

18pages - I get 'egg chat, egg chat' to Sex Bomb by Tom Jones, I think your version is probably better!

I mainly have Boursin as an addition to my lunchtime chicken ceasar salads, but at this time of year I'll also cook a whole pack of asparagus and chunk Boursin over the top of it, let the heat melt it a bit and then it turns into a gooey sauce. Flipping delicious.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/07/2019 18:30

Ongratulstikns and/or considerations as applicable.

And a 🎉WOW to our littlest Owl- those shorts! You’re melting away!! 😊

OK , so to add to the ‘type 2 diabetic, vegetarian , low carbing, no eggs’ thing I am now supposed to cut all soy out of my diet as my Estrogen levels are high (and at my age (late 40’s) they should be decreasing. Things I’ve been blaming on the Keri menopause (big gaps beteeen periods-variable when they do come, brain fog, anxiety(new mild irritating) headaches etc could be high Estrogen related. 🙄.

Whilst I cut out soy milk etc a long time ago, I do rather depend on the basil infused tofu & cauldron (tofu) sausages for protein when I’m low carbing...

Now WTAF am I going to eat, where am I going to get protein from??? Veg has some but it’s very low and beans/leaguers etc are not LC.

She wants me to KOKO with LC as I M losing weight (sl beit very slowly) she said the high Estrogen will be making it very hard to lose weight but that I need to get protein from somewhere! (She suggested beans:lentils) but I pointed out I won’t then be low carbing and losing weight

She’s a lovely woman my Dr, but it’s still not easy my b12 is 201, (NHS normal ’ is 200-900) so in the real world 201 is way too low! But she’s not allowed to order injections for me as I’m 201 or to get me another HbA1c test until sept (3 months) to see how well the LC is actually working on my blood sugars.

All the food recommended to lower Estrogen (mushrooms,Brocolli, kale, cauli flaxseeds) I’m already eating pretty much every single day (except the flax seeds)

Mind you it would be interesting to see if 20 weeks of Bc has lowered it but despite having tests (for the ‘make’ hormones today. She couldn’t request a repeat of the estrogen test yet🙄🙄)

She’s sent a request to the hospital for some tests/scans(?) to make sure everything else is working ok - no cysts etc

So I’ll have to wait for the results from those and see what’s what

But in the meantime I need other sources of low carb vegetarian protein and things to eat. I’m going to consider the pea protein. It’s not low carb, but there might be a balancing act I need to perform 🎪🤡

Open to any suggestions about any of it - or a well aimed bullet.

Nuts! Walnut (lovely with broccoli and blue cheese) is 15g/100 protein. Almonds are 20g.

MrsBertBibby · 16/07/2019 18:53

Plus you're allowed cheese, are you not? Parmesan is 38g protein per 100g!

prettybird · 16/07/2019 18:53

Iirc, macadamia nuts are the "best" low carb nuts Smile - but they're not cheap Sad

BIWI · 16/07/2019 19:00

@ChippingInLowCarbing have a read of the Fast800 - it may suit you better, because lentils/pulses/legumes are allowed. And it was a WOE originally devised to reverse Type 2 diabetes!

OP posts:
MrsBertBibby · 16/07/2019 19:00

Macadamia aren't as protein rich though.

NigellaAwesome · 16/07/2019 19:06

@ChippingInLowCarbing would you consider a protein shake? I've been using the PHD Smart shake with unsweetened almond milk. It is 19g protein and 3.6g carb per 30g scoop. Using almond milk adds no carbs. Not strictly BC as it has sweeteners, but sometimes needs must.

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/07/2019 19:25

Greebols fantastic you were home for his birthday!

We once made a blue birthday cake at the birthday child’s request - the kids looked like smurfs for days after! 😵 (Nearly all had severe SEN & weren’t very good at eating carefully at the best of times!! Oooops thankfully all the parents & carers were good about it)

VLO I do that with StAgur & a sometimes a bit if cream -SOOOOI GOOD!!

Nink you know it wouldn’t taste ‘worth it’

18 pages I make bakes like that too - I must use chilli flakes next time. I usually just use mustard & black pepper

I’ve just had dinner - remainder of the curry from the other night 1/2 packet of tender stem Brocolli & a whole punnet of mushrooms well fried in butter!

Full now - but I really ‘want’ something ‘nice/sweet’ but I’m not caving! I’m 💦💦💦instead😇

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/07/2019 19:33

parmesan isn’t vegetarian, so I don’t eat that, but I do eat a fair bit if cheese. ( I was heading back to ‘vegan’ before BC but it’s too dufficult & not recommended to properly LC as a vegan (difficult to get enough protein & fat)

I eat almonds & macadamias & some seeds , but I hate walnuts

Nigella

I had been trying to stay away from owners etc preferring to eat real food iykwim but yes as I said earlier I’m going to look into pea protein & others

I’ll have a look at that one- thank you. How many scoops do you use per shake? And dies it taste ok?

ChippingInLowCarbing · 16/07/2019 19:34

Owners - powders!

Why is my phone SO naughty?

BIWI Hi yes I have just bought a copy & it’s sitting here staring at me. I need to read it. I did start, but it’s not as engaging as Briffa was but I will read it!!

NigellaAwesome · 16/07/2019 19:49

@ChippingInLowCarbing it says to use a 30g scoop per 200ml liquid, but I think it is too gloopy that way. I use about 300ml almond milk and divide it over 2 shakes. It tastes really good. I had tried one of the pea protein ones from H & B and it was 🤢

I don't want to derail the BC threads with my shake talk though.

WATER! WATER! WATER!

More later, and Flowers to all.
