Morning all.

Very late arrival home last night - flight left Amsterdam over 2 hours late, so didn't get home till almost 2 am. Cue night of horrible insomnia - despite fatigue!

And of course, was finally fast asleep when the alarm went off Hmm

Anyway here is the spreadsheet

I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts, so not sure if this is going to be a great Monday or otherwise!

But fingers crossed all has gone well this week. Will read all the posts and come back later.

Ah how lovely @MumbleLumble, congratulations and try and take it easy. Hope the morning sickness passes soon.

And another one who has never heard off Tim Riggins and totally misinterpreted @ShagMeRiggins username Grin

@18pagesfrontandback that is amazing fasting! My appetite has definitely reduced - I am managed 1 boiled egg and half a protein roll for breakfast the other day - but I only tend to fast if I am having lunch or dinner out (so that I have a surfeit of calories to use up...)

I have shifted 0.8lb since Monday and am now at my mini-target of 145lbs, whoop! That is 12lbs off. I would like to get to 135lbs but I suspect 140lbs is more realistic. That would take me comfortably in to 8-10 range which I would be very happy with. Next mini target is 143lb...

Almahart · 26/06/2019 12:41

Can we talk bread substitutes?

I know about cloud bread, lo dough and the sadly discontinued Lidl protein rolls. What are the other options? Confused

TheWayOfTheWorld · 26/06/2019 13:12

I used this to make 6 bread rolls: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00HSW1MIM?psc=1&ref=ppxpoppmobbbasin_image

They freeze well and one with a boiled egg or two is quite filling (they are fairly dense).

venusandmars · 26/06/2019 13:39

I make a sort of flat bread / naan type thing with 90g almond flour, 30g psyllium husk, 2 tablespoons coconut flour and warm water. I add ground herbs and spices (rock salt, pepper, caraway, fennel, cumin.

Roll in to balls and flatten a bit. Fry then bake in the oven for 10 minutes.

1Wildheartsease · 26/06/2019 15:21

I put a 6 bread roll recipe on the low carb vegetarian recipe thread (even though I like it for bacon sandwiches!). It is the best I've found for packed lunch or a roll with soup. It could hold a burger.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/06/2019 15:24

Curious as to how others did interpret my user name! Hmm

Re the low carb breads—once upon a Bootcamp there was a long chat about being a Moderator or Abstainer. I am both, depending on how life is going.

The thing with low carb breads is that ultimately they aren’t bread, but just a bunch of other ingredients that, combined, create a base or flavour-delivery-system. Which is fine.

But for me it tends to become about carb counting, which in its own way can be as relentless as calorie counting. Then I look at options that aren’t substitutes (which crackers have the lowest carb count but use “real” ingredients) and sometimes eat those yet deny myself, say, leaf green veg so my count doesn’t get too high. That is not Bootcamp.

So either I need to re-frame the dish in my mind, the same way I re-framed lasagne with courgettes as a meat & veg bake rather than a lasagne with fake lasagne sheets.

Perhaps I’m overthinking it!

WATER! Etc...

Almahart · 26/06/2019 15:33

I hear ya Rggins I’d usually rather abstain just quite fancy a change

I really don’t miss pasta, rice or potatoes and am not that fussed about bread but a sandwich would make a change from endless salads for work lunches

TheWayOfTheWorld · 26/06/2019 15:33

I think it depends on how you use them. I maybe have lo-dough 1-2x per week, once as a wrap for lunch and another time as a base for pizza (sometimes makes a nicer - and lower cal! - change to fathead dough). There are c2g in a piece so it doesn't make me cut down on my FLGV or anything. I was tracking on MFP for a few weeks and I am consistently 20-25g carbs a day so I think it is working for me.

Similar with the rolls - I made my 6 rolls 3 or 4 weeks ago and still have one in the freezer. For me it is nice to have a safety net otherwise (from last experience) at some point I go majorly off the rails...

Horses for courses Smile

Almahart · 26/06/2019 15:34

I never track carbs, I just trust the rules and stagger on

Almahart · 26/06/2019 15:39

1wildheartsease thank you - I’d forgotten how many great recipes there are on that thread

1Wildheartsease · 26/06/2019 15:44

I agree that following the basic LCHF plan works best.

Bread subs are only for occasional use and veg is better ( and tastier) than mock pasta or rice.

Starting with the strict weeks for boot camp were great for removing reliance on old ways of plating meals. BIWI was right!

VeryLittleOwl · 26/06/2019 15:57

Congratulations, Mumble!

ShagMeRiggins - I thought it was some sort of pirate ship reference and always heard it in my head in an 'Oo-arr, shag me riggins, me hearties' kind of way Blush

Had my long drive to the other side of Scotland to look at the horse today, all seemed to go well, so just waiting for the okay from DH to add another to the herd and will then let his owner know I'd love to have him - though someone else has also been to see him, so it's not guaranteed he'll come to us. Didn't have time to pack up a salad, so raided the very small Spar shop near the stables and came out with one pack of ready-washed salad and a box of 20 cocktail sausages!

MrsTerryPratchett · 26/06/2019 16:04

Congrats Mumble!

I've been starving the last couple of days and over-eating. All BC food but still. No idea what's going on.

Almahart · 26/06/2019 16:16

Ha ha verylittleowl shag I thought it was to do with pirates too!

Rshard · 26/06/2019 16:19

I thought it was phrase to describe a damn good shag!!

Youwanapizzame · 26/06/2019 16:54

Hi everyone - its nice to have something up your sleeve for when the "bready" cravings take over. Just to stop you going off the rails. Not an every day or every week thing...

@ShagMeRiggins - I also was hearing a POIRATE voice - ahhaaaaa

I have struggled today. Have been trying to do something very frustrating (that I HATE) at work. Which nearly led me off the rails. I DID have a small back of bacon fries (12g of carbs) but nearly raided the work restaurant too.... I resisted that and had salami/cheese salad and tonnes of water... but I REALLY wanted to stuff my face today. I also feel stressed as we have a massive event at work and a lot of the organising the building is down to me. My collegaue is out on mat leave and my manager is too busy with other projects... and I feel like someone is bullshitting me.... I hate that. Along with that, its that dreaded catch up of emails and jobs that get left when you have a week off...

I feel like I should have a bell round my neck and yell WOE IS ME.

sorry gals... feeling a bit pathetic but good that I didnt plump for a sandwich or carby fest at lunch time.

roasted chicken with cauli and brussels for dinner. YUM Now that should hit the spot.

have a good evening

Rayna37 · 26/06/2019 16:54

Thank you to whoever recommended the Truffle mushroom egg pot at Leon! I stopped for breakfast as a treat after newly discovering some services have a Leon and it was delicious.

I was last in my current location during the first two weeks of bootcamp and was super strict at both dinner and breakfast. Think I will aim to do the same this time, including no wine, especially as I stumbled into the office crap here earlier (which is worse than my own office, ALWAYS some cakes and biscuits here)!

m0therofdragons · 26/06/2019 16:56

Hi all. I'm back on the wagon after 2 weeks of falling off.

I'm heading back in the right direction. I'm frustrated with myself but can't change it now. Dh is away so I'm hoping I'll stay on track. I honestly don't know what is wrong with me. I'm dreaming about cheese on toast Confused

Rayna37 · 26/06/2019 17:03

Mumble I was relatively low carb during pregnancy though not bootcamp strict. I didn't have morning sickness but did find there were periods where I'd need two breakfasts: some weetabix just to get me out of bed then my usual eggs before leaving for work!
I actually wished I'd been stricter as by the time I was massive, the odd cake (etc) didn't seem such a problem. However I was shocked to find I still had over a stone of baby weight 3 months afterwards which is the same as a week after the birth! I think I'd assumed going back to normal (lower carb) healthy eating would get me back to where I started before long but obviously I was just maintaining the new normal. It took finding this thread and its rules to lose that stone. I was very cross as because I hadn't "eaten it on" I didn't expect to need to "diet it off".

SittingontheSidelines · 26/06/2019 17:51

Congratulations @MumbleLumble, brilliant news
ThanksThanks

NigellaAwesome · 26/06/2019 17:53

I've just cracked out the shorts to get a bit of late afternoon sun in the garden. Delighted they fit me, but I am suffering from side knee. You know that bit of chubby thigh where it meets the inside of your knee? I'm sure there must be a word for it.

I've lost over 9kgs so far this BC, and I should be am delighted, but I think I need at least another 3 or 4 before my legs would look vaguely respectable in shorts - which would push me through the 90kg barrier.

Rshard · 26/06/2019 18:01

I think shorts are a tricky garment nigella. Regardless of weight.

venusandmars · 26/06/2019 18:02

Another one who reads shagme in a Cornish / Somerset piratey accent. hopes everyone reads my name infused with breathy, calm, ethereal tones

I mostly don't go for bread substitutes, but had lo dough when I was gagging for a pizza, and the above mentioned flat bread / naan recipe with an Indian feast to avoid diving into other temptations.

ShagMeRiggins · 26/06/2019 18:03

a sandwich would make a change from endless salads for work lunches

I get it, Almahart. My absolute weakness is Mexican food ~and baguette~ so if I could find a low carb tortilla wrap or tortilla chip that doesn’t like sandpaper dried in the Mojave, I’d be all over it. Hmm

Almahart · 26/06/2019 18:04

Is almond flour the same as ground almonds?
