Morning all.

Very late arrival home last night - flight left Amsterdam over 2 hours late, so didn't get home till almost 2 am. Cue night of horrible insomnia - despite fatigue!

And of course, was finally fast asleep when the alarm went off Hmm

Anyway here is the spreadsheet

I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts, so not sure if this is going to be a great Monday or otherwise!

But fingers crossed all has gone well this week. Will read all the posts and come back later.

Thank you @ChippingInLowCarbing Smile

L - salami, salad leaves, tomato and cucumber salsa. Added mini Philadelphia to up the fat. Disappointing (school canteen best choice for today Hmm)
D - Saag Paneer with ts broccoli. Slight slip up with a tiny piece of naan bread Blush
Managed to drink all the water and just a little wine Yay!

When I got home I cooked all the random bits of almost past their best stuff in my fridge. I now have a courgette and feta frittata and hm coleslaw for lunch tomorrow plus all the slightly ropey spinach and last dribbles of cream went into the curry. Remembered to get mince and swede out of the freezer for cottage pie #getmeplanning

So I've been intermittently fasting for over a week now, probably closer to 2. I have lunch around 12-12.30, dinner between 5-6 then nothing in between dinner and breakfast. I do have coffee with cream for breakfast so I suppose not entirely fasting. I've noticed I've been loosing weight every day doing this. Even if it's just 0.2 of a lb. I haven't really felt hungry. It's so strange as before I started bootcamp, I would feel sick, weak and wobbly if I didn't eat within an hour of waking up. Anyway I just thought I'd write about my experience in case anyone else was thinking about it.

MumbleLumble · 25/06/2019 07:26

My mum lives quite far way from me so every so often she will send me a parcel of treats like biscuits and chocolate ect. Obviously I've told her I'm not eating any of that anymore so my last parcel contained a toy story blanket instead. 'as a treat for doing so well' so random but it made me laugh. GrinGrin

18pagesfrontandback · 25/06/2019 08:54

Oh Mumble that’s so lovely And so nice that she has listened about your woe.

Am catching up with thread, was too tired last night.

Well done Almahart on successfully getting through the weekend. We’ve got this!

And Friday weighers - KOKO we are midway already.

Feeling positive about week ahead and already a bit less inflated than yesterday so might do a sneaky peek-through-fingertips mid week weigh in in a mo. If it’s bad they’ll be getting posted to ShagMe’s for the patio treatment.

Prettybird you are still Wink here, you are KOKO. Yes you may have taken the slightly more scenic route during this past year but by feck you’ll get there camper! The bastards won’t, nay, they CAN’T stop you/us!

Notwatchingtvtoday · 25/06/2019 09:00

Morning all, the Toy Story blanket is the kind of thing my lat mum would have done mumble it really made me smile and reminded me of such love.

I seem to be oscillating around 10 stone 9lbs, have had a hard look at my eating and think the teaspoons of Marsacapone at tea time will have to go, I’m going to to have my second cup of tea then instead. Will hopefully report back with a drop then tomorrow.

Dog slept all night, after an initial bark (when he was promptly moved to utility room), so I got a whole night too, bliss. I’m sure he knew he had annoyed us all as he slunk around all day yesterday giving me dirty looks . It did remind me of how awful broken nights sleep are so Flowers for anyone experiencing them at the moment.

Today
B coffee with butter and Greek yogurt, small Tsp double cream, Tsp Linwoods and 1 crumbled raspberry
L Eggs of some sort
D roast beef, FLGV, celaric mash

Water, water, water

ShagMeRiggins · 25/06/2019 09:02

Aww. Toy story blanket—delightful.

That patio is getting might full.

I am in a foul mood today so need something to shake me out of it. Not booze. Not fags. Not anything bad for me. Perhaps I just need a good seeing to. Wink

venusandmars · 25/06/2019 09:05

@MumbleLumble - me too re the breakfast. I used to have to eat before I got dressed, now I can do a full morning's work. Interestingly after eating carbs last week then switching back to this woe, I DID feel hungry in the morning, and even after my avocado my tummy was rumbling. I guess it takes a little while to get back into the stable fat-burning state.

B - Bullet proof coffee
L - Avocado, pate, enormous salad, olive oil, mayonnaise
D - salmon, cauliflower rice, oven roasted tomatoes, buttery spinach

Water, water, water

venusandmars · 25/06/2019 09:25

@ShagMeRiggins - flowers! that's my current treat. Although tbh if I spent the same amount on flowers as I used to spend on booze my house would look like a tropical greenhouse!

NSV - a good friend who I met this weekend at a course has asked me for help with her diet. She is t2diabetic and has said I looked 'terrific' Blush. I'm really pleased because friend is not a great cook, but I think the rules on this way of eating are clear enough and some of the food choices simple enough that she would really enjoy it (and hopefully benefit healthwise). And another friend has lost 6lb in 2 weeks (tbf he does have a lot to lose). The great thing is that both these friends are people who like to eat out, and it is easy to make some delicious choices on restaurant menus with only a few rules such as 'never eat the bread, only the butter', 'swap the potatoes for an extra portion of veg', have a starter or cheese, never a pudding'.

I'm going on holiday at the end of this week. I'm 2 lb up from where I would have ideally been, but that's fine, and I'm looking forward to 10 days of seafood and salads.

Rshard · 25/06/2019 09:25

Your mum sounds lovely mumble, so thoughtful! Really intrigued by your experience of fasting too.

Rshard · 25/06/2019 09:26

Lovely NSV venus, so nice when people notice and are nice about it

Heartyhooker · 25/06/2019 10:54

@ChippingInLowCarbing I use one from a Dr Berg video which is basically same volume of grated cauliflower and mozzarella with salt, pepper and oregano and one of two eggs depending on how much dry ingredients. Which together and spread out as thin as possible on parchment paper. I cook the base and then too with lots of veg and maybe some more cheese. I just bought the how not to die cookbook this morning , which is vegan , and think quite a lot could be tweaked to be low carb if not high fat. Am going to try the tomato and spinach curry tonight as a side dish.

Purposely fell off the wagon last night and had a tiny piece of ds2s birthday cake. Wasn't overwhelmingly sweet , it that's probably because I took the icing off and make chocolate cake with coco powder and a little coffee. Also always full with whipped cream and strawberries. Was worth it not to disappoint him by not joining in though

BIWI · 25/06/2019 11:22

@MumbleLumble

before I started bootcamp, I would feel sick, weak and wobbly if I didn't eat within an hour of waking up

This is because your blood sugars were out of whack - caused by the key hormones (insulin/grehlin/leptin) being imbalanced. When you're eating a low carb diet this doesn't happen, so you don't feel hungry.

It does make intermittent fasting a lot easier!

When the 5:2 diet first started, I was on a lot of the early threads on Mumsnet, and kept saying how much easier it would be if people followed a low carb diet - but I was pretty much chased off the thread for saying that! It's interesting that Dr Mosely has now developed the 5:2 into the Fast800 - which combines low calorie eating with IF but also a Lowe(er) carb diet.

Lol at flowers as a substitute for a good shag...

SittingontheSidelines · 25/06/2019 13:41

Hi mumble. I've been intermittently fasting since boot camp light and I agree couldn't do it if I wasn't Lchf

Love that your mum listened re the choc type treats and love it even more that she sent you a toy story blanket.

Just had my lunch. Two of the stack of crepes I made yesterday. One with cheese and cucumber and mayo. The other with Greek yogurt and a chopped up strawberry. Lovely.

Grimbles · 25/06/2019 14:08

Afternoon all, just checking in quickly. Scales are showing a 2lb loss last week and I am now hovering above the 11's. Hopefully I'll get there next week.

I seem to be edging towards 16:8 eating pattern again which is good! I only start to get hungry around this time of day and have just had a whole punnet of mushrooms fried in butter with some chorizo. Dinner tonight will be a Texas slammer thingy with salad and celeriac remoulade.

I just need to keep on top of my water intake now.

starsky22 · 25/06/2019 14:26

Hey everyone, busy day yesterday and didn't get the chance to post. Have recording a 3 lbs loss, it was 4lbs, but dinner at friends on Sunday involved a glass of rose, 1 roast potato, 1 parsnip, 1 small stuffing ball and gravy, still less than I would pre-bootcamp, but obviously a bit carby. Not worried though as the pound was gone this morning and took a friend with it!

Lots of great losses and NSV's, well done everyone!

I've got dinner at an Italian tomorrow to get through, but they have lots of meat/fish/cheese options and not just pizza and pasta so should be ok. Then in London on Thursday, will need to grab a quick lunch somewhere, is Leon still good for low carb?

Also going to a food festival on Sunday! Shock What was I thinking! Will try to stick to low carb, but there's no point going to a food festival and not eating the food, so my plan is to allow myself something if it is really worth it and something I ordinarily wouldn't have access to, but I am not going to waste carbs on rubbish!

VeryLittleOwl · 25/06/2019 14:28

Oh, FFS. Scales this morning showed that I'd lost the pizza-related 2lbs. Had to make a lemon drizzle cake first thing as part of a deal done with a friend to come and do a wallpaper feature wall for me. Showed epic restraint and did not scrape the bowl, it went straight into the sink with washing up liquid in it before I could get tempted.

Friend turns up, I make him a cup of tea and tuck into a slice of cake with him. Cross with myself. Did send the rest of it away with him though.

MrsBertBibby · 25/06/2019 18:38

I have had a day doing nothing but sit around pissing about online and doing tiny jobs for me. Even the load of laundry was just for me. No other person's clothes included. So long since I have done this.

I made devilled eggs and scoffed them. Needed more devil, but very nice.

Another half pound down today.

MumbleLumble · 25/06/2019 19:39

I'm in shock. Just found out I'm pregnant. I've mentioned before that I have pcos. 3 years of not-not trying for dc3 and I'm pregnant after 7 weeks of low carbing! Really struggled with eating today as I have been feeling so sick. After my post today about IF, is this safe to do during pregnancy? Can I carry on low carbing whilst pregnant?

Youwanapizzame · 25/06/2019 20:07

Wow brill news Mumble! I wouldn't think its harmful but I'm sure BIWI and the experienced low carbers will know! Your Mum sounds like a doll.

Doing well today 1st day back ok n plan. Strict bootcamp for me.

B sausage and bacon
L- big salad with feta
Dinner - peri chicken with coleslaw and salad

Did have a snack of babybel and pepperoni and I need to get a bit more water in....

Just looked up Texas slammers.... OMG yum!

MrsBertBibby · 25/06/2019 20:16

OMG Mumble congratulations!

I dimly recall discussions of just doing bootcamp lite, but I think it's one for the doctor, really.

starsky22 · 25/06/2019 20:43

Congratulations Mumble lovely news! Flowers

I'm sure other bootcampers have done low carb whilst pregnant and just followed the lite rules. Not sure about IF, best to get a doctors advice on that, but I would have thought if you listen to your body and eat when you are hungry and don't when you aren't, then as long as you are eating lots of veg you should be fine?

Doilooklikeatourist · 25/06/2019 20:50

Mumble congratulations!
No idea about Low Carbing and pregnancy , someone will know what’s best

MrsBert devilled eggs sounds good .. mmmmm

I’ve done a ton of ironing ( run a holiday cottage and do my own laundry , I’m a star at ironing Egyptian cotton bedding these days )
Popped into town and did some errands , which is good in that I did over 12000 steps , the down side is that I had a pack of pork scratchings for lunch

B Greek yoghurt, double cream , 1 strawberry and HM nutty granola
L pork scratchings
D loin pork chop with cauli cheese , courgettes and mushrooms

Lots of water 🌧💧

Having looked at it written down , need to top up the green veg tomorrow

IStillMissBlockbuster · 25/06/2019 20:54

Hello, for some reason I didn't get on the scales this morning either! I think i'm afraid to! Maybe I will put Friday's weight on the spreadsheet though it feels like cheating.

Anyway, today:
B: Greek yoghurt, single cream and a couple of strawberries (breakfast of the gods!)
L: Chicken and veg in a creamy tomato pesto sauce
D: Sausage veg traybake with more pesto (I may love it too much...)

IStillMissBlockbuster · 25/06/2019 20:57

Ok, i've put my weight on the spreadsheet.

What is the Anonymous Narwhal?? I'm afraid to click on it in case I mess something up.
