Thanks everyone for your encouragement and recommendations.

I weighed myself this morning and it wasn't good. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I need to lose 3 stone! Shock

I'm absolutely determined this time though and this seems such a good way of doing things. I'm going shopping later and I will definitely have a meal plan. Also, I ran 3.5k this morning for the first time since the dcs broke up from school.

ilovecherries · 31/08/2017 12:34

My DD heads back to uni today. Shall miss her terribly, has been lovely to have her home the last couple of weeks after her summer internship ended. She does keep in touch nearly every day with texts and FaceTime but probably won't see her till xmas eve. This empty nest bit is hard!

I am loving the sausages! 😍 🐶🐶🐶

@ilovecherries you must be so proud of her! Hope you feel less empty nesty soon!

@JustContemplating you can do it! I wouldn't push yourself too much with exercise in the early days of lchf woe. Your body is going to fight against the lack of carbs initially and you could feel very tired, weak and a bit jittery the first few days. I just did minimal moving around til I got over that hump and just now I'm getting a bit more adventurous with marching out in the park with the buggy and pushing myself up steep hills. I still haven't done any of my usual weights work outs yet which are very taxing, but despite that I've lost more than I could imagine in the first week which is officially today! It seems longer somehow, but I've fully immersed myself and I'm loving it. Smile

9.4lbs down!

YoLoZammo · 31/08/2017 15:10

Just a word of caution before you get too excited wota I may be too late you are currently losing water. Lots of it. The constant bloating you may not have noticed or thought was fat is water hiding in your fat cells. This is why the first 2 weeks will show phenomenal weight loss because you are shedding water like a running tap. You may notice the frequent loo trips. It will slow down in week 3 and maybe even stop for a while until your body properly becomes a fat eating and fat burning machine. Then the fat is used up slowly at 1 to 2 lbs a week until you reach optimum weight for you and providing you stick to the rules and don't be a carby twat which will set you back.

It's a wonderful ride. I'm enjoying it as much as you. So many other benefits besides just weight loss. I can't see myself ever going back to carbs maybe a cake once in a blue moon when I'm at a maintenance weight

JustContemplating · 31/08/2017 16:19

Thanks wota, I'll be careful.

I've been on the loo nonstop today but I really thought it was because of all the water I have to drink.

JustContemplating · 31/08/2017 16:20

Oh, and I wish I had a dog picture to share but I don't. I will just have to coo over all of yours.

wotabastard · 31/08/2017 16:50

Cheers @Yolo I'm anticipating the inevitable slow down, and I know it's all part of the process. I'm just chuffed with the big drop that's got me out of the gates!

AdalindSchade · 31/08/2017 16:53

Made it to day 3!
Cheesy cauliflower and tomato casserole yesterday for dinner and leftovers today :)

BIWI · 31/08/2017 17:01

Please note, however, @wotabastard (and others!) that it's not just water you're losing. You're also using up your glycogen stores - which you don't do on a low calorie/low fat diet, which is why you see a bigger initial loss on a low carb diet. And on top of that, there will be a little bit of fat.

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/08/2017 17:02

He everyone. Here's my dog Buster, he's been on here before - sorry

Feeling a bit headachey today - is there anything I'm doing or not doing to cause this?

Lots to catch up with, I'll try to have a read tonight

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/08/2017 17:02

Buster

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/08/2017 17:03

Try again

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/08/2017 17:04

And again!!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 31/08/2017 17:12

Grin @ oatcakes

Thanks to everyone for your good wishes, I'm feeling slightly better today so antibiotics and water seem to be helping. I did read online that parsley tea helps but decided to nope that.

In other news, last night's Jamie Oliver 5 Ingredients recipe was wonderful. A brilliant mix of flavours (I would use fewer tomatoes and more basil, butbthays just my taste).

And at the risk of showing off to oatcakes, I've attached a photo of my partially eaten meal, this ruining the presentation. Erm...Hmm

Ok I give up!! 😀

wombattoo · 31/08/2017 18:01

Poor you NOMORE Pic fail Thanks

JustContemplating Welcome. Don't forget to ask if you have any questions.

Re the sausage dogs - I hardly ever see them so find it amazing that there are 3 posters on this thread who have them. Lovely.

YoLoZammo · 31/08/2017 18:54

Welcome back adalind Grin we missed you!

wota it is good losing that to start with. I didn't mean to rain on your parade! I did the same then spent the next 6 weeks losing and gaining the same 2kgs before it got moving again. And i stuck to the rules!

Thanks Biwi for the science. I bow to your wisdom Grin

I feel deprived of Buster pics Wink

c4 hope your lung test went ok.

Glad you are on the mend cleareyes . There is a LOT of fruit on that plate imo. Shock Wink

I love that the sausage dog is so prevalent here on bc. So appropriate!!!

Grimbles · 31/08/2017 18:55

Evening all!

Yes, the constant need to pee is annoying and it only happens at night Angry

B. 2 fried eggs 1 rasher of bacon creamy coffee
L. Chicken, cheese, olives, chorizo, salad leaves
S. Pork scratchings creamy coffee
D. (Planned) Beefburger, halloumi, spinach in butter

I had a spoonful of someone's alpro coconut 'yoghurt' today and it was surprisingly tasty. It looks to be low-carb so I assume it's ok to have (although I may mix it with cream to up the fat)?

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/08/2017 19:02

Another try - as I don't want deprive you of pics of Buster 😀

NOMOREoatcakesandcheese · 31/08/2017 19:03

Yay, it worked!!!!!

ClearEyesFullHearts · 31/08/2017 19:05

There is a LOT of fruit on that plate imo

He did go overboard with the tomatoes, YoLo. There was also kalamata olives, chorizo, Basil, and salmon. A fair bit of olive oil but my only criticism (other than the tomatoes) would be not enough fat in the meal.

Was still lush. Wink

Apparently we are trying page 185 some time this week/end (again, he's cooking, no idea what brought this on but will definitely go with it). It's the Ginger Shakin' Beef (such fun but wanky names depending on how one feels about Jamie Oliver).

It's 5 Ingredients are sirloin, ginger, miso paste, pak choi, and...wait...runny honey! Didn't the decker get the memo? Angry Grin

ClearEyesFullHearts · 31/08/2017 19:07

Decker? No, fecker!

Lovely photo oatcakes Grin

Lenl · 31/08/2017 19:20

Had a lovely dinner Grin

B - 3 egg omelette with tuna mayo and cheese

D - fish pie... salmon, smoked salmon, smoked haddock, cod, some spring onions, carrots and peas cooked in cream with a cauliflower and celeriac mash topping. And cheese on top. YUM.

I ate all of my half which myfitnesspal says is over 1300kcal hahaha. With my macros. This is great love no calorie counting.

OldBooks · 31/08/2017 20:03

Buster looks a happy, lively chap!

Food today:
B: greek yogurt and cream
L: cheese omelette
T: pork belly and roasted courgette
A small piece of my aunt's cake, annoying as it wasn't that nice and wasn't worth the carbs

Good luck to everyone starting SSS tomorrow, I will join you after the holiday (back by 10th). I think I will do a 3 day egg fast when I get back then stick to strict BC for the rest of the month. I need to introduce a 'BC Light only at weekends' rule as otherwise I get carb creep
