Evening all! Hope everyone is doing ok. Smile

B. Kinda skipped it, had a creamy coffee and didn't want to eat
L. Various snacky bits - cheese, chicken, salami, olives plus a tin of tuna in oil with blue cheese dip mixed in plus some salad leaves
S. Pork scratchings
D. Steak with garlic butter. Mushrooms and tomatoes fried in oil plus some salad leaves

JustContemplating · 30/08/2017 22:31

Would anyone mind if I join you?

I really think I'm going to give this a go but I'm a little nervous of how much time and preparation it will take at first (and I'm a little clueless).

Ds starts school tomorrow so it will give me a day to plan and start properly on Friday.

starsky22 · 30/08/2017 22:41

Cleareyes Poor you, hope it clears up quickly

L238 think you've already got the message, but I liked this visual and it's something I need to remember too, as I'm a slave to the scales!
I know the baking options are limited, but there are lots of lovely low carb recipes on pinterest that I'm enjoying. Search low carb or keto, just try to avoid the puddings/cakes made with sweeteners!

Today:
B 2 sausages
L prawn mayo & avocado
D leftover roast lamb, celeriac, cabbage and gravy

L238 · 30/08/2017 23:19

Thanks starsky, it's a great visual.
I will do measurements tomorrow morning, it's been a while

wotabastard · 30/08/2017 23:43

So stressed with work I had a crazy i-want-cookies-cheerios-crisps-everything moment earlier this evening but had a ff greek yogurt instead. Definitely a NSV! Probably my first. I love being in keto and I do not want to disrupt it. It is so motivating to just keep drinking the water and keep my eyes in front of me. I've lost 24 lbs so far this year and 9 of them have been in the past week so it's been a frustrating, long slog with lots of ups and downs and emotional issues around food up to this point. I feel so liberated with this woe.

B: 2 eggs, cheese, steamed broccoli, budder.
L: mixed crunchy salad leaves with mayo and grated cheddar.
D: tofu, courgetti, mushroom and shallot stirfry in a asian style broth made with an oxo cube with a crispy fried egg on the top!
S: greek yogurt
I'm working late tonight so I had 1/2 an avo and mayo to sustain me.
All the water and a couple of coffees and a tea.

That's my birthday C4! How exciting!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 31/08/2017 06:43

Hi JustContemplating welcome! Read the spreadsheet and links. I also recommend the Diet Doctor website, it's pretty easy to navigate. Then jump right in!

L238 during the last bootcamp, I "only" lost about 10lbs, but my measurements decreased massively, I went down to a 25 inch waist at one point, seemingly impossible when the scale said 9st 10lbs at 5'3.5"!

C4 yay for Lola! Love that name for a dog, can't wait to see pics of her.

I feel like I'm getting ill, you know when your skin goes all tingly and you feel cold and tired all the time? Yeah, that. I made a load of different LC soups yesterday, so hopefully I can survive off them if needs be!

I made roast pork shoulder yesterday for tea (we have our roast on a wednesday, as I work Sunday, Monday, Tuesday evenings) and it was sooo nice, the crackling was perfect. One of the things I'm enjoying about this WOE is that I can eat the pork crackling, the chicken skin etc, all the things that are "naughty" that I like! And best of all, no sugar to set off sugar cravings & binges.

I'm going to a baby shower on Saturday, only a few of us going, at someone's house. She's an excellent baker and there will be cupcakes & finger sandwiches etc. I've already spoken to the host and explained why I'm doing LC etc, so I'm taking my own chicken drummers & rollitos and the host is doing salad, so I'll just have some of that.

Food planned:
L - leftover roast pork & salad with mayo
D - duck breast on a bed of spinach

MOIST · 31/08/2017 07:31

I need puppy pics please.

And bunny. Kitten. Dog. Tortoise. Anything really.

I. Am. Writing. The. Bastard. Essay.

Well. Actually I'm going to and buy snacks and then write it. But I'm almost doing it.

OldBooks · 31/08/2017 07:38

Speaking of doggies, here's my parents pooch Picur, which means "little lord". He's a sweetie and it's nice having dog time for a couple of weeks, though it feels like cheating on our cat!

Food yesterday:
B: leeks fried in butter with melted mascarpone
L: leafy salad with olive oil and vinegar, cheeses
S: ice cream by the lake Blush
T: crustless quiche with vegetables and salad, dark choc and cream

I am finding it hard to resist the lovely fresh breads, cakes etc. I usually overindulge when we are here. I have told myself if I CHOOSE to I will have something really good, not a naff throwaway 'treat' but a proper delicious thing like a fresh baked cake from the patisserie. I really don't want to eat from stress or mindlessly or from a feeling of 'oh fuck it'. I feel like it is an NSV for me to be actually choosing when I eat something carby, to mindfully enjoy it, and then go back to the woe without any angst. I hope I am making sense! It feels like I am in control.

@OldBooks I meant to ask are your parents grasping the idea of lchf or are they still suspicious?

OldBooks · 31/08/2017 07:58

Nope wota, still a mix of suspicious and not willing to sacrifice bread, cake and especially alcohol. I don't know if they will decide to do it or not. I am sad as I think my dad in particular would benefit, I am sure I get my PCOS from him and that he is insulin resistant. Last night they ate lots of potatoes and had beer, wine and a nightcap joking that "the diet starts tomorrow". This morning they've had cereal and toast. I don't think they have the will tbh.

MOIST · 31/08/2017 08:11

Old. Sausage? I have 2 just like him.

Oh moist what a beauty! Yes he's a sausage dog!

C4 lovely little Lola!

hippadoppaloppagorillapig · 31/08/2017 09:11

Awww she's lovely. I might have to pop in for a cuddle!

ASDismynormality · 31/08/2017 09:21

clear. Hope your UTI clears up quickly.

Loving the picture of the sausage dogs, C4. Lola is very cute. I want a dog but am not allowed!

ASDismynormality · 31/08/2017 09:22

JustContemplating. I also recommend the diet doctor website, he explains LCHF in an easy way to understand.

YoLoZammo · 31/08/2017 09:55

I'm melting at these doggies!!! I am trying to resist getting another dog to keep mine company. Head says don't be stupid and create more work and more difficulty for myself. Heart says awwwwww you have plenty of love to give a rescue greyhound and they are so wonderful....Grin

moist as a serial procrastinator I feel your essay pain. Try doing it in small blocks of time rather than it being a huge unclimbable mountain.

YoLoZammo · 31/08/2017 10:04

oldbooks i have the same issue with my mum. Losing weight will improve her mobility and quality of life massively. She is quite disabled and has a lot of midriff fat restricting her lungs which only function at 50% anyway. I've tried to help her understand LCHF. She thinks she can eat all the butter, cream and cheese AND cakes, chips, pastries, and fruit. Wilful misunderstanding on her part I suspect. Or she is just too old to change her ways. I despair. If she does try this WOE (or her version of it) I fear she will put ON weight.

YoLoZammo · 31/08/2017 10:12

Good planning hippa

Justcontemplating you need to change your username to justdoit Grin. This woe is the easiest thing in the world. When i started, i got rid of all the crap food in the kitchen. Then I went shopping and bought lots and lots of green veg, some meat, eggs, double cream, butter and cheese. That's all you need to get started. If you cook for the family, they can eat the same as you but cook rice, potatoes, pasta for their plates when you dish up to go alongside the meat and veg you are cooking anyway. I have been amazed by what new veg (yuck, greens?) that my DC now eat if smothered in creamy cheese sauce or ketchup.

Mimosa1 · 31/08/2017 10:25

Hi everyone,
Not sure if you remember me from the old thread. I joined bootcamp in the last couple of weeks but had to stop as my uric levels were too high for an insurance medical (only in the first few days of ketosis). I've put on 2kg in the last couple of months of the 4kg I lost on bootcamp, but I now have the all clear to start again, so here I am. Just started with a lovely breakfast fry up :) look forward to catching up with the thread and starting bootcamp properly from the beginning when it kicks off.

YoLoZammo · 31/08/2017 10:34

Welcome back mimosa

This is the sort of dog I want to rehome. Someone please talk me out of it into it, into it . I am a single parent with small DC, a cat and a dog and work FT. I have a fab local dog walker I would be crazy crazy crazy to get another dog. Wouldn't I???

Between bootcamps support thread Summer17
OldBooks · 31/08/2017 10:39

yolo can't help you there, I have always wanted to re-home a greyhound. Sorry about your mum Confused my dad has no health issues (yet) just moans a lot about his tummy, but it's not enough to sacrifice alcohol etc.
