Been to circuits. Shock

milkmilklemonade12 · 05/01/2016 11:03

Quick question... Coconut milk... Yay or nay? Was with a friend in Starbucks today (ordered an Americano to be safe Wink)

milkmilklemonade12 · 05/01/2016 11:08

lisbapalea we are height/weight twins Grin I carry weight quite well and at 13 stone (currently) don't look bad for it. But I feel bad and I know I can do better for myself.

FelicityFunknickle · 05/01/2016 11:46

My guess would be nay. Americano is the way to go.
I have seen some ppl on strict lc diets put coconut oil in their coffee though. That has zero carbs.

Knitmyshickers10 · 05/01/2016 12:24

Coconut oil & butter in coffee is gorgeous!

VagueIdeas · 05/01/2016 12:33

I'm back bootcamping!

I did really well up until around October, when the weather changed and so did my eating habits. Managed to carry on with reduced carbs (but nowhere near proper LCHF) and my weight was stable, which I was more than happy with. Then Christmas happened and I feel bloated and horrible.

So here I am Smile

FelicityFunknickle · 05/01/2016 12:44

I have just made a coffee with coconut milk knit
'tis nice.
Hi vagueideas

DiscoDancer · 05/01/2016 13:01

What is the best milk to have if you really can't have drinks without milk?!

ChesterDrawers · 05/01/2016 13:16

Disco double cream is best as it's lowest carbs, but if you really have to have milk I think full fat is slightly lower than skimmed or semi.

Just a splash once or twice a day should be ok, but if you are having lots the carbs will soon mount up. Can you drink herbal teas instead or something else that doesn't require milk? I love black coffee now, maybe give it a try and see if you can get used to it without?

GingirlBells · 05/01/2016 13:20

The unsweetened almond milk is good Disco. I have a spicy chai latte made with it and it's lovely.
Well, I'm back at it. Day 2 today and I feel less bloated already.
I don't know why I stopped LCing, really, as I feel so much better when I do it. That's not even including the weight loss benefits!
B - ff greek yoghurt, 2 coffees with cream
L - tinned mackerel with green salad
D - Haven't decided yet. Maybe salmon with roasted veg and hm tartare sauce
S - spicy chai latte as above Grin

AuntyBatshit · 05/01/2016 13:50

I'd like to know too!

FelicityFunknickle · 05/01/2016 14:26

Gingirlbells How do you make the spicy chai latte?

I've made a lc moussaka (from the bootcamp recipe thread) for supper.
I like the look of it but am anxious about dh and dcs. I think the lc cheese sauce will be fine. But the meat base is quite different without the usual tomato/ passata ingredient.

DiscoDancer · 05/01/2016 14:41

Also wanting to know the chai latte!
Day 2 here and feel less bloated but my head hurts Shock
Am drinking tons of water and am snacking if need be but I know my body is probably thinking WTF after Christmas with all those biscuits and pizza and baileys and everything else! I know the first week is hardest and am taking it a day at a time but gosh is love a piece of toast right now!

lisbapalea · 05/01/2016 14:42

Ooh milkmilklemonade it's always handy to have a height/weight twin! I started last year at 14st and am now about 12st 4, having been 11st 13 at my lowest last year. I never dreamed I would be able to lose that 2st but bootcamp reinvigorated my faith in myself last year which is why I am now aiming for sub 11st 7 - if I can do that by my birthday in May I will be so happy!

Re the milk in coffees thing, I do have a splash of full fat milk in my morning coffee - it's my one hot drink of the day and I just don't like it as much with cream.

Breakfast and lunch have gone down OK as per the plan I wrote yesterday. I have a cracker of a sore throat and swollen glands today though - think it might be too soon for carb flu to have kicked in, and I don't feel ill as such, but it's making me crave something warm and comforting for dinner, so I am going to play freezer roulette when I get home - think we have some slow cooked chilli pork which I could have with broccoli and coleslaw, if that's not too weird a combo?? Now just need to find the damn thing amongst all the identical looking plastic tubs!

GingirlBells · 05/01/2016 14:48

I don't want to take credit for something I didn't create! Grin I think it was StuntNun who gave me the chai latte idea on the previous bootcamp. It is just a cup of the unsweetened almond milk heated up, then put in a twinings spicy chai teabag to brew. I sometimes add a splash of double cream if I'm feeling indulgent. I have it as my evening treat. There is just 0.1g of carb per 100mls of the milk, so nice and LC.

GingirlBells · 05/01/2016 14:50

Terrible grammar there. You put the teabag in the milk, not the other way round. Blush

GuyMartinsSideburns · 05/01/2016 15:34

Haven't contributed much yet so thought I'd pop in. Day two here and doing fine so far, no cravings etc. Am tired but haven't been sleeping well so just taking it easy today.

Really really can't do cream in my coffee nor have it black so that's an area that I need to work on, I might still have milk but limit the amount of cups I have. Can occasionally have a bpc.

Did really well low carbing last year but am now back up to 9st 4lb so if I can shift this stone il be pleased. Went for a run yesterday but don't think I will today, I just want to nap!

Courgette 'boats' for tea, not sure what with though, I do fancy garlic roasted broccoli Smile

Knitmyshickers10 · 05/01/2016 17:09

My day so far...

B - 2 slices of pastrami, 2 eggs and butter. Cup of tea with splash of milk
L - portion of swede and leek soup made with chicken stock from carcass, small pack of pork scratchings
D - will be 4 LC sausages and a mix of veg fried in butter - bubble and squeak ( may be too carby as there were some peas and carrots in with the swede and cabbage)

At least 2.5 litres of water

FelicityFunknickle · 05/01/2016 17:26

Thank you Gingirl i will be making that. I have some of those teabags and just need the almond milk.

LexLoofah · 05/01/2016 17:35

Yay glad to be back on it, 5lbs on over Christmas, scary

had to address lack of water this afternoon, skin looks better already, lovely hot water with ginger, lemon and apple cider vinegar great to chase sore throat away. Another vote here for unsweetened almond milk in tea nice with chai, earl grey and normal.

Kobanos, avocado, scr eggs
Parmesan roasted cod, roasted veg
Good old cauli cheese with leeks and bacon, no flour of course

Bit of dark chocolate, will start BC proper on the 18th

Knitmyshickers10 · 05/01/2016 17:42

Oooof carb head kicking in here this evening, feeling tired, achey and head is banging. Just as well it passes in a few days and I know how good I'll feel then.

VagueIdeas · 05/01/2016 17:51

Ooh, I'd love some pointers on how to made a cheese sauce without a roux?

Also: uses for coconut oil. I have a tub in the cupboard from the summer and apart from eating the odd teaspoonful when I was feeling snacky, is never tried it in coffee or for cooking. I mainly use butter for frying or sautéed things, obviously.

AuntieMaggie · 05/01/2016 18:08

Can I join you? was meant to join the last boot camp but ended up ditching it and put on a stone instead :(

Anyway day one almost done...
Breakfast: eggs and bacon
Lunch: Prawns, avocado, salad and mayo
Snack: Handful of nuts (should have said I'm starting on light)
Dinner: will be bolognaise and cheese

Haven't drank enough water but will rectify that!

StuntNun · 05/01/2016 18:39

Weren't me Gingirl although it does sound nice.

I had a coconut milk latte in Starbucks today. I'd be very interested to find out how the carb count compares to a normal latte.

Knitmyshickers10 · 05/01/2016 19:18

vague whizz 2 tsps of butter and 2 tsps of coconut oil into your coffee with am electric whisk.

It makes the most gorgeous creamy coffee and gives you such an energy boost. Try it I think you'd be pleasantly surprised
